    Hey man,

    1) You probably want to be more descriptive in your Title
    2) You have no deck as of writing, and
    3) It's possible you might have erased everything and changed your mind about posting, in which case you can disregard 1 and 2

    The hero we deserve

but not the one we need right now . .

What is your opinion on Priest of Gix? He is black in mana (yay for Teysa), he is human (yay for Xathrid Necromancer), he gives mana on etb (yay for ashnod's nim combo) and pretty badass art. 3 cmc for Dimir Machinations, 2 power for Mentor of the Meek. What else could we want?

The fact that he is very comboey makes me not want to run him. It depends on your philosophy of play though. That being said i haven't played him but he seems like a good candidate if your running empty on equity

Hey, seeing as it's spoiler season for SOI, how do you guys think the new Pious Evangel fits in the deck? Also, do you think it is worth it to play Anguished unmaking since it's tutorable with Dimir Machinations?

Anguished unmaking is a lot better than Utter end. one mana cheaper for 3 life is a good trade.

thier is a couple goodies that would worth playing around with

you can run more return enchantments to your hand like Crown of Flames. i ran a buyback package with Memory Crystal.it was pretty fun. cards like Crimson Wisps, accelerate can supplement cqrd draw as well while feeding the heroic triggers

What do you guys think of Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet? I'm on the fence with this one. He isn't crazy synergistic but he will make us some black tokens, and is potentially going to help sustain our board presence after a board wipe. Exiling enemy creatures is a really nice side effect against decks that abuse the GY.

he seems ok. its good when your blowing up the board. il probably play around with him but im not head over heel;s about it

Any experience with Vampiric Rites testing?

im pretty content wiht the card draw in the deck adn the amount so i am not really sure. seems ok .

Well I got hated on for causing all kinds trouble for my opponents with braids, cabal minion .
I ended up saccing it once the complaints got legit. Gona take it out for now. zombie infestation was an all star once again. Still need more win cons but the deck is extremely efficient and I'm just loving it.

yeah no one is happy to see a black braids on there opps field unless there getting away with something too . ive been there. i second the ZI. its alpha as fuh

hey guys updated the decklist for BFZ. nothing crazy to expect .

Out: mentor of the meek In: Smothering Abomination - the deck has enough draw power that i wanted to remove the weakest one of the bunch for one of the stronger ones. Of course the obvious reasons. abom is black and is FREE card draw

Out: Pontiff of Blight In: Zulaport Cutthroat - i like wining through blood artist effects more than PoB. i rarely used him. also makes Return to the Rank slightly better

Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim is very impressive. i Think Teysa might be jealous lol but she will definitely be tested. im already contemplating putting her in for Utter End or another piece of removal since as i stated in the primer, removal on creatures is usually better than on sorceries/instants

i gave up on Liliana i couldn't make her work they i wanted her too. i might make her a separate edh deck though

    Smothering Abomination is colorless Smile

In my experience you need at least one or two removal options as instants/sorceries, because cards such as Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite or Humility just wrecks you otherwise.

Liliana, Heretical Healer is awesome Smile Usually I get a zombie and reanimate something (which basically put her in one of the reanimation slots in the deck), which is perfectly fine. And if I get some life or even manage to reanimate two things and make people discard a card before she dies, that's amazing value. I've even managed to get the emblem out a few times, but that's mostly a bonus.

I've noticed a disturbing lack of card draw in your list. I assume people in your playgroup doesn't use much removal? Because in my playgroup Skullclamp usually dies immediately, and if I only had 4 other draw spells in my deck like you have I'd be completely screwed since the chance of drawing any of them would be too small.

Oh, and I can highly recommend you to swap Meekstone for Martyr's Cause. This deck can chump block large creatures all day, but it's weak to trample and protection. Meekstone only does something -after- they've attacked (that's bad against stuff like voltron) and in that case Martyr's Cause is miles better since it makes all your tokens able to "chump block" anything, and it also acts as another sacrifice-effect which this deck can never have too many of.

of Dur me! of course its colorless haha

your right on the removal. the deck changes overtime when other decks that i play with do (naturally of course) .

ill look into the Martyr's Cause ! i love this card

Hey I mean that is just as likely a scenario but, I'm playing against the same 4 decks every week because we're just a group of friends who play casual edh so I can get away with it. Your mileage may vary.
Fair Enough I'm in a similar situation except one of our players likes to play Oloro and tends to get a rediculous ammount of life. To compensate I play Sorin Markov and another guy plays Magister Sphinx. The sphinx gets used on me a lot to cause I also have lots of life. As you said YMMV. Let me know what you think of her once OGW is out. If you guys have a lot of success with her maybe ill try her as well.

yeah the life requirement is a bummer for me. i love my Carnival of souls but i like to fantasize that small b/w duders are always great in this deck. (i like the way b/w cards look ). so i have a natural bias

I 2nd zombie infestation . The deck can have a ton of card draw at times. Last night I had skullclamp out, and everyone was already drawing two cards per turn from one of the blue commanders at the table. I turned all my excess into zombie tokens and just did my thing as usual.

I may consider putting a few of the infinite combos back in the deck because the straight-up grind-style play can lead to long stretches of solitaire and then people complain or get bored. I started getting ganged up on after my first table killing win and at one point was down to 4 life and tapped out. I started sacrificing dudes to my altar and ended up creating enough card draw and mana to dig through a bunch of cards off the top of my library. I found my Sun Titan but laughed when I remembered that I took out Angelic Renewal last week. It would have been cool to go infinite on Blasting Station when the rest of the table had already written me off as dead.

a lot of peoples playgroups can have that issue. i am fortunate that people i play with dont mind ( they know when to quit when i tell them its over lol my deck is infamous at my lgs ) but the combos can be used as quick wins if under social pressure( i love karmic guide revillark and teysacombo) ( than you would have the people complain about winning with infinite combos .cant please them all i guess)

Karlov seems to be nice as a Tiny Leaders leader - warden, suture priest, this bastion protector. Maybe even outlast guys with first strike and death touch. Some enchantments giving protection and recurring and lets swing for life Grin

Question about Teysa - what's the most important part her? Ability to make tokens after death of black creature? Exile at sacrifice? I guess her low casting cost is not the point... I'm asking because right now I don't have access to her and I'm wondering with who I can replace her.
My next question about this deck is on win conditions - I have my Falkenrath Noble, Zulaport Cutthroat and life swap combo based Vizkopa Guildmage, Tained Sigil and Debt to the Deathless, but it feels like it's not enough. I hesitate before using Blasting Station or Altar of Dementia because they seems to weak without Darkest Hour combo and I want to keep my deck more casual oriented. I've got a lot of draw engines, but getting only Smothering Abomination and Dark Prophecy overfills my hand with cards.
Thanks for answers in advance Grin

About my deck list as soon as I get back home I'll write you, it's a pain in back to write on phone...

    - second ability is more important than the first, its possible to play the deck without her in play but requires a lot more setup

    - i love my cheesy plunge into darkness + Vizkopa Guildmage combo and is what i shoot for most the time but there are plenty of other win conditions highlighted in the primer. the easiest to assemble is nether traitor + phyrexian altar + Teysa imo but i try non infinite combo kills primarily. also Nim deathmantle wins with just about anything

    - i rely alot on Zombie infestation to clean the hand and provide more dudes. its a suitable engine with all the card draw. more cards-more guys-more cards-more guys etc.

    - side note. i will be updating primer soon up to BFZ im currently out of town visitng family. just wanted to pop in and let everyone know im still here and stuff. enjoy!
