Well the Blightspeaker's value was its reusability. The fetching is just a small bonus.
But I do admit that low toughness can sometimes be a problem. It's somewhat compensated by the constant life loss I impose on my opponent, but I guess the major problem of this build is speed.
Could Blood Artist be useful here? It gets you a bit extra mileage out of your removal, and even just over the course of normal play, you can probably squeeze out a few more life. Seems like it could be better than Blightspeaker, although at ~$8 a playset, it doesn't really qualify as "cheap."
2$ apiece isn't too bad, but I'm not sure I do enough creature killing for it to be successful, while Blightspeaker can do it every turn. Bear in mind that Blightspeaker can also summon its other copies from the deck.
This deck is the current version of my oldest deck, evolved from my first theme deck back when I started playing Magic.
The idea is to slowly wittle down the opponent's life, forcing him or her to make the wrong decisions. You attack me ? You lose life. You destroy my enchantments or creatures ? You lose life. You don't ? You lose life.
It's isn't a very strong deck but it's intellectually satisfying. Its only real weakness is that faster decks usually get going before it has time to set up, and then it becomes very hard to take the upper hand, even with the removal that's in there; so I'm looking for suggestions as to how to improve it. I'm thinking that some minor, cheap adjustment should be enough.
Well, this will probably be my last deck for a while. I'm about all out of ideas for the time being.
I've been wanting to do anti-land for some time, but I always figured it would be all-red. Instead, this one is black-green with some land destruction and deathtouch and similar abilities on creatures.
The point is to generate tons of mana quickly to play large creatures and either attack with Canopy Cover or Stampede, finish off my opponent with Hurrinane, or overwhelm them with Ooze tokens from Genesis.
Primal Command was a card I added in there early on to compensate for some of the deck's original weaknesses. But now, with Gaea's Cradle and Stampede, the deck has gained in speed quite a bit.
So here's my question: I've recently acquired three Garruk, Primal Hunter, and I'm wondering if the card would be better suited to this deck than Primal Command, or if a planeswalker in there might be a bit too slow, so I'm looking for opinions.
Simple sack-your-creatures-for-tokens strategy, with the high-priest for added fun. Lure should be the wincon, especially with Vreska's tokens on the board. I'm considering Tangle Asp for that task as well.
Anyway, it's a sketch, so I'm looking for advice. Would a deck like that be worth buying, and with what modifications ?
Well I figured, since Indestructibility is the theme of the deck (the Knight tribal effect is a consequence of it), I can expect the sweeper to work to my advantage most of the time. I somehow hadn't counted on response-removal.
Right. What the hell ? I mean, I couldn't make heads or tails of what slivers were before, but at least they looked unique.
Though I agree that I don't like this rule change, I'd like to point out that "fun" is the point of the game.

4x Tangle Asp
4x Deadly Recluse

It's a simple control deck which attempts to gain an insurmountable land and creature advantage. Sewer Nemesis is most likely the win-con.
Comments and suggestions are appreciated, as always.
EDIT 2012-12-14: Replaced Befoul and Typhoid Rats by Despise and Visara the Dreadful. Now using Sinkhole instead of Rain of Tears.

I'm working on what might become a future deck for me. Here's the very-sketchy build:
3x Vraska the Unseen
4x Carrion Feeder
4x Skirsdag High Priest
4x Korozda Guildmage
4x Dreg Mangler
4x Creakwood Liege
3x Corpsejack Menace
3x Gaea's Anthem
3x Golgari Germination
3x Gutter Grime
8x Forest
4x Twilight Mire

Thanks.
Isn't that what we call a combo ?
In any case, thanks for the advice. I guess I'll see soon enough what works and what doesn't. It's a work in progress.
