  • posted a message on How many Colours do you prefer in a deck?
Depending the place and the people, for example, with my friends I mostly play casual (with some rules) and I rather play mono color or two colors, for consistency. When playing Standard I go with whatever combination appeals at the moment, most of the times two colors and only twice in my life I've played three colors in a Standard environment, with both Ravnicas I have played three colors.

    Quote from Jay13x
I'm Irish/Italian (Also: German, Polish - my family is from Brooklyn, NY), married to an Indian woman. Half White/Half Indian children are uniformly adorable. We plan on thoroughly ethnically confusing everyone by giving them an Indian First Name, an Irish Middle Name and my Italian last name.

    Globalization at its finest.

I'm white mexican, 1/8 Tlaxcaltec, 2/8 "Mestizo" (mixture between Spanish and American Indian), 4/8 "Criollo" (Spanish born in Mexico) and 1/8 Vasque; from my 8 great grandparents.

I'm proud of my blood heritage and I'm happy of being mexican. Sometimes I wear a beard and I've been called "arabic" (as far as I know there is no semitic bloodline in my family) in Middle East Countries (Saudi Arabia, UAE, Egypt, my job takes me to this places, btw I'm still living in Egypt -__-)

I am racist sometimes... mainly with mexican born in USA ("chicanos" and "pochos") since they despise Mexico most of the time. Other than that, no other race. Jews and muslim Indians are hard to deal with it, mainly in business, but easy to forget.

I find sad the loss of mexican culture in the northern part of Mexico, my city is located in the north east, and it has suffered an "americanization" in many ways, loosing traditional dishes, customs and some other points.

  • posted a message on U/B Control in Modern (help)
I think that adding G can make UBg Control more "stable" against UWR and help the MU against enchantments, artifacts and planeswalkers.

By adding green you get Maelstrom Pulse, Abrupt Decay, Putrefy and Voidslime as a SB option if needed. Also you get a decent finisher with the Simic Sky Swallower. The idea would be to use discard, removal and countermagic with snappys and some other beater.

You also have decent black sweepers, Damnation, Mutilate, BSZ. Even in blue we can use Evacuation if needed. The disruption package (IoK, thoughtseize), removal (smother, dismember, AD, pulse, putrefy) and the countermagic (spell snare, remand, mana leak, rune snare) and sweepers can provide a decent shell.

Since Modern can support 3 colors and the living proof is french control, BUG Control can operate the other way around as a more predator control.

    Just my opinion.

    Play Burn.
You will literally relief and enjoy while burning somebody.
It's cheap, efficient, funny and straightforward.

If you want to torture somebody play Stax hehehe.

    Just my opinion.

    Gleaner Rabith 6GGGG
    Legendary Creature - Incarnation {Rare}
    Trample, reach, vigilance.

Forests you control are 6/6 green Elemental creatures with reach. They’re still lands.

When Gleaner Rabith is put into a graveyard from anywhere, shuffle it into its owner’s library.
    9/9

    That would be my version.
    Greetings.

  • posted a message on [THS] Possible Ideas for Theros Duals
I can see "slow lands" in contrast to the "fast lands" of Mirrodin v2.
    Something like

    Red-white Theros Dual
    Land
~ enters the battlefield tapped unless you control four or more other lands.
T: Add R or W to your mana pool.

In this way the format will be slowered and the interaction between shocklands and "slowlands" wouldn't be so hyped.

    Rebuff the Wicked

    A card that could help.

I think only Abrupt Decay is by far the worst card you can fear.

    Counterspell will be in Theros.

Counterspell will be every blue card in Theros.

Fixed according to my wish list...

    On the other hand...

My baseless speculation will be flavor-oozing and a brake to the format speed, cards will be more "unplayable"

    Gorging Specter 1BRG
    Creature- Specter (R)

    Flying, Haste.

Whenever Gorging Specter deals damage to a player, that player discards a card then you put a +1/+1 counter on Gorging Specter and untap it.

    3/2

    Haste
Whenever you cast a red instant or sorcery spell, put a 3/1 Red Elemental token with Haste and Trample, then draw a card.
    2/1

That would be utterly broken and fun.

May sound nerd or geek but I enjoy my job. Aside from that... I enjoy doing exercise, if I have an Olympic pool at hand I rather swimming or play waterpolo with somebody else.

A good book, either in english, spanish, or italian; the novel could be Realism or Fantasy.

I used to spend some time roleplaying or playing some videogame, but my job exiles me from these activities, including Magic; those hobbies are occasional and only when I'm in Mexico.

At the moment by biggest hobby is surviving Egyptian revolution...

UWR Control (or French Control as my local like to call it) has already all the instants they want. BUG Control (Purple Rock, Dirty control) has the best removal at hand with Abrupt Decay and Putrefy, and decent sweeper with Gaze of Granite, quicken will be a win more. RUG Control (Carpet control hehehe) is not so common nowadays, i have no feedback in this.

But grixis was missing something, a cantrip good enough along the removal package. Quicken fills this spot perfectly, by making all the sorcery speed removal much better. And with Opportunity, grixis can go now in a true draw-go style.

From a grixis control point of view, spells I'd quicken:
    Dreadbore
    Barter in blood
    Rolling Temblor
    Rakdos's Return

  • posted a message on Dual lands in Theros
My bet is on a twisted design of fastlands to make them "slowlands". If Seachrome Coast enters untapped below the count of 2 lands, maybe the new design will enter untapped above the count of 3 lands, otherwise tapped. I suspect this because in DGM the game was slowered down a bit and M14 seems a bit heavy in mana cost.
