Well, my friends and I drafted out of a box last night. All the cards were mine afterwards, and we finished opening the box. Here are the highlights:

    Mythics

    Rares

I also completed my playset of Wall of Omens and am up to 3 Oust.

I got at least one of each uncommon, and between 2 and 4 of each common. I was really, really hoping for Kargan Dragonlord but alas it was not to be. I also got a bunch of stuff that I already had... particularly Mortician Beetle - 2 of them to make 3 total, Near Death Experience for a total of 3, Dormant Gomazoa - 2 total, and Keening Stone - 3 total. Anyway, it really sucks when you open pack after pack and you keep seeing the same things!

I love collecting Dragons, and then Slivers. I love the abilities of all the slivers, and had a pretty sick sliver deck back in the day. Having been out of the game for a while, I'm painfully far behind on dragons, and I was pretty bummed when I saw just how few dragons were actually legal in standard these days.

Thanks for the quick responses. The cards listed so far are definately good cards, but the problem I'm having is that the Alara/Conflux cards will soon be illegal... October or September correct? So I would rather invest in cards that are going to last a bit longer in standard rather than spend money on cards that are going to be illegal shortly. (This isn't to say that I wouldn't buy them if they are cheap enough of course... it isn't THAT much of an investment.)

Luckily for many of these cards (Lightning Bolt, Llanowar Elves, etc...) I am lucky to have most of my cards from Revised through roughly Mirrodin, so I have many of those.

I appreciate the suggestions, keep them coming!

Oh, and I'm still buying Eldrazi packs, so I should have plenty of the commons/uncommons fairly quickly - I'm not going to look for singles from the set in other words, unless its to flesh out a play set once I decide to stop buying packs.

I'm wondering what everyone's "can't live without" common and uncommon cards are from the current block/M10? I'm just getting back into Magic and have some cards from Zendikar/Worldwake, but not many, and I don't plan on buying much in the way of packs for those sets, so I was wondering what I should be on the lookout for as far as singles are concerned. I'm not really interested in buying a "playset" of the whole sets, but just a few of those cards that can make/break decks.

    Thanks!

Is there anything that lets you put "Loyalty Counters" on a Plainswalker? I'm sure there's something that lets you move counters from one permanent to another, but I can't remember what it is. Thanks!

I completely forgot about Kargan Dragonlord. This is a card I really want and I'm hoping that I either pull it or can find it semi-cheap, but as it is, I do not have it, thus it isn't in the deck. I hope that changes soon.

Considering the cards I already own, to get up to that deck would cost me nearly $100! Ok, take out the Scalding Tarns and that drops it to about $50... but that's still too much.

The pool of cards I have to draw from does consist solely of my sealed pool, 2 draft pools, and 4 boosters of RoE, maybe 10 boosters of Worldwake, maybe 10 boosters of Zendikar, and something like 4-6 boosters of M10. I also have very few cards from my "old" days ranging from Revised to current that are still legal. I realize that I will never build a cohesive, stable deck using only what I pull from packs, and I am willing to spend a few dollars here or there... but not that much, and certainly not on one deck.

I have a friend that "net-decked" a $200 deck and he does pretty well at FNM with it... but I would get SO bored playing the same deck over and over again, and truth be told, I don't have the time or resources to "buy" a deck every time I decide to change it up, and I don't have the time or resources to "collect" enough to build whatever deck I want whenever I want it. So, I start with an idea, tweak it using what I've got, maybe pick up a specific card or 2 from time to time, and then start over to try a different deck.

Now... the Eldrazi... I know that they are fat, and I know that they are too unreliable in standard... but that one time that you are able to drop him on the table and smash through for 12 will be amazing! I see your point about Polymorph being too random as well, but in this deck it doesn't really matter which creature you pull with it, you will get something useful. And again, that one time it pulls an Eldrazi will be sweet, sweet victory.

Splinter Twin is a great uniter in this deck. As I said, if I drop Splinter Twin on a Venerated Teacher, then I'm leveling up all of my levelers by 2 levels every turn. Additionally, if I drop it onto Emrakul's Hatcher then I'm throwing 3 Eldrazi Spawn onto the battlefield every turn which brings out the Eldrazi that much faster.

I do thank you for some ideas, and especially that I need to be on the lookout for Kragan Dragonlord... that said I would also love to get hold of a Lighthouse Chronologist.

Well, after several solo test runs the deck seems to be working pretty well. At best I've dropped It That Betrays on turn 5 with 7 Eldrazi spawn, but with the Venerated Teachers and Training Grounds in there, the levelers hit the table and dominate. We'll see how it does when I can get it up against an actual opponent, but for now I'm liking it. The only change I'm thinking of making at this point is getting rid of Emrakul, the Aeons Torn. It would be a sweet card to drop on the table, but it is really expensive, and I typically have to wait 3 turns longer than It That Betrays... though in one of my tests I Polymorphed into him and that was AWESOME! I do plan on picking up another Polymorph so I can have 2 in the deck to make that particular event happen more easily, but that isn't really what the deck is about. It's really about the levelers, and one spectacular combo that I hadn't even considered, and came across during my testing was Splinter Twin with Venerated Teacher, or with Emrakul's Hatcher. Each turn you can tap Venerated Teacher and slap 2 level tokens on each of your levelers! or... each turn you can tap Emrakul's Hatcher and toss out 3 Eldrazi Spawn. I'm also going to look for an additional Splinter Twin to put into the deck! This combo helps either of the decks focuses!

Hi! I'm new to the forum, but not new to Magic, though I am new to the current Magic environment. I've been out of the game for some time now, but RoE has pulled me back in with a vengence! I absolutely love the giant creatures, but I really love the Levelers. I played sealed and draft (first for both!) in the pre-release and draft for the launch weekend, and I really like it. My sealed deck did really well, and it was a B/R/U deck with several levelers, Sarkhan the Mad, Nirkana Revenant, and the best piece of the puzzle that really brought the deck together was Training Grounds! That card really brings together the levelers and makes them very, very cost effective. With that in mind (and with the 4 Lord of Shatterskull Pass's that I got at the launch event, as well as an additional Training Ground, I decided to hone my original sealed deck into the following:

I decided to take out the black because all I had when I paired it down was a couple of levelers and a 1 or 2 sorceries that made Eldrazi Spawn tokens. Any thoughts you may have would be great! I don't particularly want to "buy" singles in order to make a deck, so this deck was made from what I have. You can see my "Legal in Standard" collection here:
    http://deckbox.org/sets/4710.

I don't have a sideboard as of yet, so if you wouldn't mind suggesting sideboard cards I would appreciate it. Again, I would prefer to stay with cards I own, but if something really "made" the deck, then I may be talked into buying singles!

    Thanks in advance!
