I played Selesnya and splashed for an archon of the triumvirate and a supreme verdict My MVP was most definitely vhitu-ghazi guildmage, once I stabilized, that thing would keep churning out centaur tokens and then moved up to populating the elemental tokens. It's hard to beat that much populate. I had a blast at the prerelease. Went 3-1

On another note, what if the Phyrexians who are reverse engineering the Soul Traps manage to do it and somehow rig them to send "emissaries" to other planes?

I think the idea is probably to send whole armies to other planes, much like they did with Dominaria and the Planar Portals. I keep on thinking how much Phyrexia would love to get their hands on Esper or Ravnica.

I agree with the idea that the Blue faction seems to be more like the Old School Phyrexia. I think it was always very UB.

I have a hunch the third set, Mirrodin Pure, is going to be all artifacts.

They've done all creatures with Legions, and all gold with Alara Reborn. Thanks to Esper, we know that they're willing to print colored artifact cards and I think that would be the logical next step for Mirrodin.

    Thoughts?

the art is a larger size because of the templating of the "clear" cards. The art takes up the entire card, kinda like a planeswalker

@ Flaming Affinity, I totally agree with your card, thats actually what I was thinking, I'm surprised they didn't mention it in the article.

I think part of the fun of magic is figuring out cards that work well with and against other cards. And thats part of the way you grow as a new player is discovering those interactions. I disagree with people being force-fed removal. If there needed to be an answer to planeswalkers it should be

"Remove all counters from target permanent" or "destroy target permanent with a counter on it" or "permanents can't gain or lose counters" or something of the sort. I think "destroy target planeswalker" is too limited and too blatant.

My solution was drafting. Back when I still played constructed I would draft with my friends and as long as I came out on top I'd be able to trade for what I wanted. And like someone said earlier that's the easiest way to get the commons and uncommons you want. Its obviously not foolproof but drafting is something you'll have to be good at so you might as well use it to get the cards you want for constructed.

Or play rogue decks. Or get over it

So that amazing art of that Esper girl has really been wasted. :/

I know!! That was my favorite art that was spoiled, I hope it will show up in Conflux but I'm surprised it was spoiled this early if it was. It looks like it would have been a battlemage. If it turns out to be an alternate art of something lame like a battlemage I'm going to cry. It deserves an awesome card

Is it safe to say that this is the highest played/costing card they've printed other than Wrath of God, perhaps even more than Wrath of God?
That looks great. I love how they concept the older cards to fit the current settings, like oxidize with japanese style art and now this from the hand of a merfolk.

    Freaking sweet Smile

Uhm... no evasion and 3 mana... reminds me of a really jank rare that came out with fifth dawn, Moriok RIgger. I won't say that this card won't be played, but artifacts should be really, really overwhelming to let this card touch pro's hands.

2 main differences, first off, Master of Etherium is itself an artifact so it already fits in better into any affinity deck, and second instead of just getting itself bigger it boosts everything else as well.

Now, I'm not saying that its guaranteed going to be played because of those differences, its just that because of those differences its going to fit much better into the deck.

except that the cairn lands can function on nonbasic lands whereas nimbus maze requires basic lands. It reminds me of reflecting pool

The first two arts look like guildmages, almost. A (presumably) blue wizard with a white and a black orb that she's manipulating, as well as a black wizard/shaman manipulating both blue and red energies.

Also, it definitely looks like Bant is having some sort of obsession with charms/coins on it's human (and possibly angel) occupants.

Thats totally going to be a cycle, creatures of the color of their shard with activated abilities of their minor colors, like sunscape apprentice or sunscape master

Mages are made, not born? They are U, after all. Teach

The little blue guys make all the babies lol

Seriously though, that is a good question, maybe they're born human and as they grow older they grow fillagree?

I think the biggest reason we won't be seeing 10 'walkers this set is because since all the 'walkers are going to be epic rares, that leaves only 5 other epic rares, one of which is Hellkite Overlord. Thats not very much room for showing what epic rares can be. Since this is the first time they are showing off epic rares, I believe they will show a wide range of different types of cards, from tournament staples, to timmy cards, to legends, to planeswalkers. Having 2/3 be planeswalkers seems overdoing it.

I would totally take the battlegate mimic. I'm surprised not very many other ppl agree. The mimics are REDICULOUS in triple eventide and because of the quilspike in the pack, I think you should take the W/R mimic over the B/G one for signaling purposes.

I wish there had been a bit more variety with colors, like alabaster dragon or exalted dragon which have always been two of my favs. Oh well.

I'm hoping they do more of these, I can't wait for Angels!! Perhaps someday after they've printed more they'd be able to do Demons too.
