I have high hopes for the future to see a mix of surveil and scry, but the realist in me says they won't let scry share the spotlight (with reason, scry is probably the best evergreen keyword in recent years). They are just too similar to justify splitting off some of the scry cards to make surveil cards.
Hadn't thought of Foretold End when thinking about Mausoleum Secrets. Possibly the strongest it will be. I also think Shadow decks will try it out, but if a 1 mana any creature tutor isn't enough to make Jund Shadow the defacto best type, I'm not sure this will do it.
Also remember the creative teams picked who join Bolas on what they felt would be the best story, the need of color balance between the factions isn't set in stone. Only one I'd say for sure would be Kaya next set.
I'm not sure that's true. I'm pretty sure the splitting of the guilds would have been color balanced, even if Creative got ultimate say. Making color distributions askew is a big no-no unless they are actively trying to put across a point. Compound this with the fact that R&D don't like to shove too many walkers in the same color(s), and I'm pretty sure we can expect Gruul, Azorius, and Orzhov as the walkers for RNA.
Nice catch, dunno about Gruul's place in all this, then. Makes me want rethink Orzhov being a Bolas guild, except for seeing Kaya on the cover of the Ravnica novel.
Not sure how having the least-together guild in his pocket benefits Bolas..
Still unwilling to believe Baan is the new Azorius leader; he just doesn't seem like the Bolas-pawn type. Then again, neither did Ral, and we haven't heard how exactly Bolas has his claws in the new Viceroy. I'd love to get a new Sphinx walker (on Bolas's team) to take over for Isperia, but I'm not sure how likely we are to get a non-humanoid walker.
The Kaya inferences are probably spot on, working for Teysa who is working for Bolas (maybe with some long term plan to cut ties, but we all know how that never works). That leaves one more guild, which, to keep colors balanced, should be Rakdos. No surprises here, and I'm pretty sure we don't have a BR walker available to be the new leader, so I'm expecting a new character here. It'd be nice, considering each of the other four Bolas walkers (assuming Baan is Azorius) are returning characters. I could see Radkos himself remaining in power, and just aligning himself with Bolas of his own will. I could see Bolas throwing him a chunk of the city to have however he wants.
I dunno why everyone is so mad at this card, I think it's great!
It means Vraska won't be 4 colored mana (BBGG), since that's the forula for differentiating the two different 'characters' in a given Guild pair. Which could have happened if this creature was XBG.
Not so fast. New-Mizzet has triple colors in his cost. Inb4 BBBGGG Vraska.
There are Vedalken on ravnica. They only have 5 fingers though (kaladesh has 6)
Dovin baan is a possibility, although I don't see him aligning with bolas. He worked with tesseret when he thought he was doing the right thing and it all crashed down around him. He was mislead. He's a good guy but got tricked.
Tezeret will lead either azorius or orshov - only 2 guilds thst make sense. He is espers colours (though they sometimes drop the white) I can see them making a variation of him that drops blue or black instead.
Oh damn, I was totally wrong on Ravnican Vedalken, my b.
I'm still pretty sure we won't get Baan as the Azorius leader. He's an engineer, not a lawyer, though I can see how they might justify his involvement with Azorius. I still don't think Baan is on the Bolas-hype-train, though. I imagine we'll see him again at some point, as an adversary to the Gatewatch, just not within the Bolas arc.
I'm not sold on Tezz either, though. We've never actually seen a UWB Tezz, even though he hails from Esper, and I'm pretty sure that's because he isn't a white character. If anything, I could have seen him being involved with the Dimir, with his nefarious scheming, but they're apparently in the anti-Bolas category, so I'm calling no Tezz in the GRN or RNA. He'll probably appear in Milk, along with Bolas himself and Lili.
Not a total nerf. You can deny Prophetic Bolt by removing the primary target, but you can't fizzle my hypothesizzle.
I am pretty sure as the card has "target" in its effect that you should have a target while playing it...
Anyone may confirm/invalidate this point?
It uses the new reflexive target method, which means you select a target only after you do the trigger, which in this case is discarding a card. See Glorybringer, which does not target until you decide to exert it, upon resolution of the ability.

Fun, if only for the flavor text.

Not sure if we've started the story for GRN yet.
It also costs the instant speed, unfortunately.

Complain away, all. My only gripe here is the scientific inaccuracy of calling an Okapi an Antelope. : )
