Makes me think of Sphinx of Magosi, an Intro Pack rare, and less garbage than this thing. Let that sink in...

On the subject of mana costs Today's article (toward the bottom) it says "Erik Lauer (Theros's lead developer) commented that he wanted more ways for using excess mana." This lead to increasing the costs on Bestow and tacking Scry onto spells.

Why did this seem like a good idea? How does overcosting things let you utilize excess mana? How is not having enough mana to answer a threat when it's relevant good for limited? Can anyone help me with the logic behind this? And yet, the only mana sinks in the set are on the Mythic Gods or the terrible-in-limited red one drop. Maybe their playtesting showed everything lining up perfectly in terms of cost and game flow, but at this point, I'm not buying it.

The fact that anyone can believe this to be true makes me sad for the future of magic. Answers can't be undercosted unless they also contain a threat (Ala mana drain).

3 to the dome isn't a threat? Man, I've been playing burn all wrong. And does that mean "Counter target spell" should cost U? I'm a little lost here. I thought this was a discussion of Pyrewild Shaman anyway.

Fun, flavorful card. Probably correctly costed for its hilarious blowout potential. Those Doorkeepers, Lobber Crews, and Frostburn Weirds I've been sitting behind? They kill you in the air now. Goblin Electromancer both helps cast and becomes a threat. Even Blistercoil Weird gets his day in the spotlight.

Static effects stick around, so that new Nivix Cyclops becomes at least a 7/4 flyer. Throw in some Guttersnipes and you've got a party.

Then the spotlight is constantly swiveling in a search pattern, and focuses on individual creatures at the time that you're choosing to target them. But wait, there are specific gameplay scenarios where that doesn't make sense either, so that's not satisfactory either, is it? I guess we can't win unless the card's text accounts for every possible situation. Every piece of equipment arguably has bad flavor, too, because it can be equipped to a creature that logically could never equip it, right?

Half the fun of the game is beating your opponent's face with a Rage Nimbus riding a Warmonger's Chariot in Rise limited. The less sense the mental image makes, the better.

But you really cannot hope to beat Ransomed Titan with non-Nuclear Tactics. -.-

Wouldn't targeted creature kill, bounce, or better yet, targeted enchantment destruction work just fine here? You do get an entire turn to deal with it before they can hope to get a Titan trigger, and if you don't have a way to deal with it then you'll be discarding 2.

I do like the card. It has a nice mix of power, flavor, and it's an interesting take on theft effects. If they can't pay, it's just unconditional steal. Could be fun in a Shrieking Affliction type deck that hurts them either way.

I still don't get why this is worded the way it is. Why wouldn't it just be "Search your library for three creature cards with different names and reveal them"?

Because otherwise you could tutor for one creature, "fail to find" the other two, your opponent can't say "Let me see your deck and make sure there aren't any more creatures" and it would be an overpowered tutor. This is how search effects work. If they ask you to find something specific you can fail to find.. This wording prevents that.

I may be showing my age a bit here, but I'd sing the jingle for that every time I played. Looks like I'm building a bug deck now.

Just glad I could bring some joy and inspire creative thought in an otherwise negative and dismissive thread.

They definitely need one beyond the generic artifact ones. That and a Spider Lord. I do love tribal. Smile

I'd settle for the name CreepyCrawlers.dec

I can't play it in Mimeo because of the copy clause! I tis sad.
    Frown

Am I the one that's confused here? Because as I pointed out earlier in the thread, The Mimeoplasm has no "remains legendary" clause like Lasav or Sakashima the Impostor, so shouldn't copy effects work just fine on him?

Probably all the supreme verdicts keep them in check.

I don't know, if a monstrosity is ravaging a city, how often can you nuke the whole place before the locals get a little testy?

It does have Trample...? Too bad you can't Mimeoplasm with this (unless you got some wonky combo like Mirror Gallery up... all the lols).

The Mimeoplasm doesn't remain Legendary when he copies. He copies the entire card as printed.

Though I'm still more interested in copying Zegana with say a Death's Shadow for counters. Maybe with a 7/7 Psychosis Crawler out. Ha.

People really need to get off their high horses about what they think Mythic should mean. Godsire was from the very first cycle of Mythics. Now tell me this card is any different from a flavor standpoint.

Also, to the people saying this is a waste of a Mythic spot. Just stop. You sound like spoiled brats. Take solace in the fact that this card being cheap will keep the value of your precious planeswalkers and undercosted finishers high.
