Looks like JTMS will be back in a big way. Dig was replacing Jace as the premier card advantage generator in Legacy. Now JTMS is back to being the top dog.

Am I the only one who thinks that cursed scroll should be in every deck, either mainboard or sideboard? I played it last weekend with a Trinket Mage package of Top and EE. It was insane, I looked for Cursed Scroll more than any other artifact. It rips apart 80% of the creatures in this format since 2/2s are everywhere. Out of the 3 Commanders I played against 2 of them get picked off by Cursed Scroll and most of their creatures die to scroll.

Control and midrange must play it for board control. Aggro should play it to deal the final few points of damage as reach. What makes Cursed Scroll insane in this format is that card advantage is super difficult due to the casting cost restrictions. Also due to those restrictions, creatures are usually small and utility creatures that create virtual card advantage are everywhere.

It's better in this format than legacy because hands empty extremely quickly. With everything low cc, by turn 5 most players have used up their hands and it is top deck mode from then on. A 1cc card is also not difficult to cast and it is extremely versatile. I like it more than the Swords as the default late game card. Tempo is extremely important in this format and killing a creature in response to Sword equip is game over. I kept picking off creatures in response to equip, it's so nasty. With Jitte being banned, cursed scroll seems like the next best thing in a creature vs creature dominated slugfest.

It is also low commitment, getting Cursed Scroll countered/ removed is not a big deal since it costs 1 mana. Getting a Sword blown up during attack step is a massive step back in tempo. Once Cursed Scroll activates you have already gotten value. It's similar to Punishing Fire I'm legacy, it costs 3 for a recurring shock. In legacy Grove costs R and Punishing fire costs 1R. Punishing Grove is a 3 mana 2 card combo with colour and graveyard restrictions. Scroll is a 1 card powerhouse with no colour restrictions but with hand size restrictions (which is irrelevant in a format like this where counters are lousy and hands empty very quickly).

Stifle doesnt really see much play nowadays. Rug Delver may or may not play it and the Top delver deck, Patriot delver doesnt play it. I don't think stifles are going to trend that much upward.

Dark Depths seems like it's going to jump, it's just a matter of time now since 2 Stage-Depths decks made T8.

Daxos Meletis is amazing, especially with Swords. The build in evasion and trigger is really good on a 3 mana cost body.

Legacy has Flusterstorm, which is generally played more in the board over Swan Song. The 2/2 is a major disadvantage in Legacy where incremental advantage is important. Swan Song is good in 2 decks, Vintage Oath where you want to give your opponent 2/2s and Legacy Sneak Show for the mirror. Even then, it's arguable if it's better than Pierce/Flusterstorm/Red Elemental Blast. If you fight an early counterwar with Swan Song, you may die to 2/2 beats. In a counter war, Flusterstorm is still the best. However in Duel Commander, I'm seeing Flusterstorm in some Zur decks, because the deck is essentially combo and protecting Zur is the most important thing. I'm already running Pierce/Fluster so Swan Song is in there as well.

I see non-foils at a couple dollars (max 3-4) and foils maxing out in the teens (15-18). It sees very niche sideboard play and fights for slots against the more versatile REB (Kills Jace & True Name Nemesis, doesn't give opponent a 2/2) and Flusterstorm (Essentially a split second counterspell).

I think Jace prices have finally bottomed out. FTV Jaces are sold out at promo prices from SCG and Channelfireball. I think Jace can only go up from here.

Thanks alot! I recently changed my cutting technique after the Sharuum. The edges on my first few 3d cards were rough because I was cutting away from my body (so I don't cut myself). But this caused the angle of the knife to be suboptimal for cutting. I now cut towards myself and the results are much better (as seen on the Merieke). I also use separate knives for spacer cutting and details cutting to preserve the blade's sharpness. I have no issue cutting up my own alters as I can always paint another if I make a mistake. However, it is rather nerve racking as you spent so much time painting the card. Re-painting would be very painful. Cheers!

Open it and sell the pieces at or near the lowest for a NM copy on TCG or eBay and you should sell it pretty quickly and get the most money in total.

The Jace alone is worth $80 or more and at least 3 of the others should get you ~$10 (all before fees of course.). You may even be able to sell the open box on eBay for a few more bucks separately.

I'd say it's worth at least 2.5 times or more it's msrp right now sealed. If you put it up on eBay for ~$110 sealed for buy it now it'll probably sell in 1 to 5 days. If you put it up for auction it should get you ~$100 to ~$130.

Edit: As for long term value? I'd venture to say that the cards opened or sealed are pretty much at rock bottom of where they are going to fall to or very near it. I've been monitoring the prices every few days at least since July presales and they appear to have settled at a minimum value. If people are looking to get these now is the time to pick them up. Honestly? Id guess that this set with all of the good stuff in it could be worth as much as double what its worth now in 10 months. A conservative estimate , IMO, is that sealed sets should be going for $150+ in 10 months.

I agree totally that it's rock bottom now. Given that Jace is the best planeswalker that has ever and most likely will ever be printed, eventually the ftv jace will recover to the 150 usd price tag. All the other good stuff like dynamo, gilded lotus and fact or fiction are edh staples and very easily sellable. Stp, hymn, venser etc with new art are very desirable. I see the box going back up to 200 in a couple of months easily.

Flusterstorm sees alot of play in Legacy. It's a 2-3 of sideboard card in almost all blue decks. Some combo decks (high tide) plays Flusterstorm maindeck. I'm willing to bet that you will see more flusterstorms than Nemesis in blue legacy decks at any given Legacy tournament because flusterstorms have to be somewhere in the 75 to stop combo.

Therefore I'm expecting nemesis to eventually cool to the 15-25 USD range. This makes the Grixis deck a good deal only at MSRP because Baleful Strix is going to crash as well.
