correct me if im wrong but... doesnt having an artifact general require you to have an artifact/colorless deck with only colorless mana? or do the rules vary between groups... as its unoffical
@ clan iraq, well orignally poison WAS kinda neat, not not quite the same as another life bar, still close but not entirely
but i gotta say im really disapointed in wizards for how they did it this time... couldve been so cool... and now its just mediocre creatures (for the current metagame) that need to get in fewer hits than a better creature
I would love to see Psychatog comeback just to see if it would have any impact on standard or not.
wrong flavor for the set, now i could see an atog that eats (removes) counters from permanents you control - i am very hopeful for a new atog and its big toothy grin
Cryptic in Lorwyn, WAS "Mythic" and is just as rare as Jace
1 in 80 Lorwyn packs, have a Cryptic
1 in 80 Worldwake packs, have a Jace
i havent done my research so forgive me if im mistaken,
but wasnt lorwyn a much larger set than worldwake?
and if the odds are the same, as you have posted, but with a much larger pool... that would inturn make cryptic not "mythic"
why do people keep comparing mill to poison?
mill usually requires some combo or just a bunch of consecuative mill cards
no creature involvement
poison requires you to actually damage the player with your creatures (be unblocked in the case of the black ones) which means its pure creature involvement
-and since the poison creatures are all very weak, they need combat tricks and lots of them
and people please, stop trying to equate damage to poison * 2, its very easy to modify your own life total and very difficult to modify your poison counters
the trade off to that is when using poison you have to get the hits in, you cant just do most of it and then finish with some spell that does X amount of damage
this makes for a much more predictable gauge of where the game stands, there is no wondering if you are going to get lightning bolted for your last poison counter or lifegain/lifelink your way back to 0 counters
Really you pick Poison over Banding as worst ever?
actually, banding is pretty strong
just the creatures that have banding are very sub-par by today's standards
same goes to the poison creatures
anyway, as its been said - poison is another reasource that you lose for completely exhausting
since theres only like... 1? way of removing poison counters, it is better than damage because gaining life is pretty simple, this also allows for cards that give your opponent life to be much more useful, like invigorate is a surprise combat trick if you have no mana
though it is better than damage, its much more difficult to inflict - so its a trade off, maybe not a balanced enough one but very little has been done with the ability - so cut it some slack in that respect
If you decide to run Training Grounds you almost have to play Spawnsire of Ulamog. A Grounds out with this on top means that you have two jump blockers that replace themselfs for every 2 you spend.
throw in a doubling season for infinite mana and cast lots of giant eldrazi from your sideboard just for giggles
say you attack with a first strike creature and it goes unblocked,
example:
black knight
can you do the first strike damage part of combat and then ninjutsu the knight with a ninja and have the ninja do a "normal strike"
i think it works because technically the knight is still an attacking and unblocked creature
and if you do this between the first strike and normal damage steps
the ninja comes in as an attacking unblocked creature before the step in which it would do damage
but i gotta say im really disapointed in wizards for how they did it this time... couldve been so cool... and now its just mediocre creatures (for the current metagame) that need to get in fewer hits than a better creature
also something that transfers poison counters from player to player perhaps?
yea im going to giant growth my unblocked poison guy... give you at least 4 counters
wizards... you better make it more interesting than that... poison should need tricks to work, not just a different form of brute force
wrong flavor for the set, now i could see an atog that eats (removes) counters from permanents you control - i am very hopeful for a new atog and its big toothy grin
that wouldve been a conflux card, and they didnt do it... not even draco
that would be really neat with all of the planeswalkers floating around
the reprint of fling in M11 makes me wonder about the possibility of fling-atog becoming a standard concept
i havent done my research so forgive me if im mistaken,

if it said "the cost cannot be reduced to less than 1" then it would be no

i was going for the actual thread topic with that question, not the mind control bit
