JaceBluesMaster posted a message on WoTC breaks its 56-card shackles for Commander, Legacy & Vintage - With new "Battlebond" setPosted in: Magic GeneralQuote from Shea_0 »Quote from JaceBluesMaster »Doesn't Battlebound have the same problem Commander products did? The cards will be serving multiple masters and may not satisfy all of them.
So with Commander those 56 new cards were designed *for* Commander and as also legal in Legacy & Vintage as a side note.
With Battlebond, these 85 new cards are not released for the targeting of any one format but can be (and hopefully will be) an area of card design with great variability - in the sense that the 85 cards are not released in a format-specific product. While these 85 cards are being shared among three formats, the cards don't have the caveat of them being designed for any one format specifically. Some individual cards may have a more "Commander" feel for sure, especially the cards with multiplayer-centric mechanics, but as a whole the pool of 85 cards could potentially be what ever these 3 formats are needing.
Think of it this way: the power level of these 85 cards is going to be well beyond what could justifiably be printed directly into Modern and Standard within a single calendar year. Commander needs powerful cards, and justifiably so in a multiplayer environment, but now there is no compulsion to "put a lid" on the quantity of cards at this kind of power level and these cards may very well be spectacular by also being within the power level for Legacy and Vintage play.
Going the route of making products that have new card printings whose set-legality places them directly into some formats and bypassing others lets WoTC avoid the complications and avoid the conceptual filters that arise when placing cards with crossover demand into Standard-legal products. For the sake of all formats, this kind of move allows for Standard and Modern products to better focus on their specific range of design and alleviates the burden of stuffing crossover card printings into every set. Conceptually this is huge for the development of each format and allows them to stand on their own better.
I think you are making a lot of assumptions here. Pretty sure this is just going to be a fun set like Conspiracy and Unhinged. Some cards might find homes elsewhere but I don't think this is going to be the magic bullet you are looking for.

I concur. I thought Battlebond was intended for 2HG? Did misread that somehow?
From the announcement: "For Limited, you can play Battlebond in either Sealed Deck or Booster Draft. Like Conspiracy, it's a mix of reprint cards and new cards. There are 254 unique cards in total, and 85 of those cards are brand new, all of which will immediately be legal in Commander, Legacy, and Vintage! The rest are all reprints, some of which even have spiffy new artwork. (And many of them I think you'll be quite excited for)." -

People have been talking, and there was real potential, over a year ago. Like when I bought mine, when he was closer to $50, than $150.
Reprints, Masters sets value, whatever people want to complain about, thats fine, but the tin foil hats just make you look funny. Its a card that will power up some decks, maybe create some new ones, and thats it. You still die on Turn 3 to Burn.
It doesn't appear that you understand the concept of a true "conspiracy theory". Instead, you appear to be attacking people who are drawing reasonable conclusions based on circumstantial evidence.
The only ones who look foolish here are the ones you arguing that the unbanning of JtMS has nothing to do with Masters 25's imminent release. -

I mean, let's say that's the case, they really truly believe that modern is ready for him. Would you then want them to reprint Jace in their next masters set, or not?
I agree it does feel a little greedy, but I don't think that's the only (or even simplest) explanation here.
Even if Jace won't break modern, the point is that modern was incredibly healthy and balanced. From this point on a Jace unban can only make the format worse. And they still went with it. Because they don't care about the format but about the money. And Wizards being greedy is by far the simplest explanation here, considering everything that has been happening the past few years. Like the worse quality of cards. The prime example of WotCs greed. -

It's a concept of creeping normality. If WotC can make this move solely in an effort to sell packs and move their product, and if the players of this game fall for it and buy their product, WotC will do it again, and again, and again...
Stepping across the line of unbanning a card in a stable and vibrant format just to push your product sales is going too far for WotC.
DON'T BUY M25!

In fact, none of the four most played archetypes (Humans, Affinity, Burn, and Tron) are likely to adopt either Jace, the Mind Sculptor or Bloodbraid Elf.
Give it time. The pros and community will eventually find a way to make them work and break Modern again.
Modern was broken 1 time, and that was due to Wizards, not anything 'pros' proved.
The pros and community will certainly make a go at trying to make a winning deck with it. I'm with the crowd that thinks JTMS will dominate the tournament scene and cause Wizards to ban it again or unban something to counter it. JTMS is just too good of a card for its mana cost. -

I was really counting on Jace being affordable enough for me to get my last copy for Commander. Now as usual, Commander players are screwed out of this iconic card because of Modern, and they think a product at $10 a pack, with a horrible gamble ratio of majority garbage bulk rares is going to offset this insane demand they've created?
It makes me so upset to have my Mind Sculptor stolen from me, only to have WOTC inflate its price before a reprint set they've promised would make it more accessible. Seems every way I turn, this card is going to be a nightmare. And here I thought it would finally be reasonable. But it's a mythic, and I'd have to hemorrhage out cash on bulk rares before I have any hope of seeing it anywhere.
Honestly, I'm getting sick of being burned by card games. Making it a mythic was NEVER going to solve the demand problem when it's tripled in price from one announcement. Good luck to us Commander folks I guess, since we'll never see the light of damn day in this game with anything. -

Dealers have been opening boxes and posting numbers on reddit. Also, Maro recently posted on his twitter. I'll try to find some links and update this post.
EDIT:
https://www.reddit.com/r/magicTCG/comments/7i8aif/rosewater_on_foil_unstable_land_rarity/
From that thread:
"Your chance of getting any foil basic Unstable land is only 1/4th your chance of getting any foil basic in a Normal set."
"We opened 252 boxes with 69 foil basics, so one foil basic in 3.5 boxes."

Yep. You just tap all their basic lands in their upkeep and return the second copy to your hand to do it every turn.
This card seems like the opposite of fun/funny.

This set is gold.

It's on Ixalan booster boxes, too.

As for your situation, I'd recommend writing an article explaining your card choices, how to play the deck, and all the match-ups you tested against. If you just post a list in some random forum, you'll probably just get a lot of criticism from people who simply glance at it. Show people actual results and someone might actually pay attention.

That's big news. No My Little Pony crossover.
