There are definitely people who will whine if they discontinue this, but I'm not sure if it'll hurt the game noticeably. People said that tournament participation would plummet after Magic Player Rewards was discontinued, but that doesn't seem to have happened.
We got a hellkite relatively recently in BFZ, so I don't think the term is retired. I think we're going to see regents and hellkites in the future, for a little more variety in dragon names. Maybe we'll get hellkites on some worlds and regents on others.
Lathnu Hellion is hardly parasitic. Without other energy sources it's a two turn Ball Lightning variant. Its effect just becomes equivalent to Fading 1 or Vanishing 2.
I love this idea. Bolas not only makes perfect sense as an archenemy, but I think attaching an actual villain theme to archenemy gives it some flavor it was sorely lacking with the vague/generic villain concepts on most cards.

If Carbonize outclasses this so badly, the answer is clear: reprint Incendiary Flow with new Jaya Ballard flavor text.
Jaya Ballard quotes solve any problem.
