That's not english pronunciation. That's just wrong pronunciation.
Reminds me of Innistrad drafts, where pros where discussing if Sturmgeist should be pronounced just normal wrong or advanced wrong.
Borrowing old or obscure words from other languages or deriving words from them is always fine, but don't just use an everyday word and hope no one will find out because "who speaks that language anyway?"
Well I speak English and that's how I sound it out making it wrong yes but I liked the sound and I knew full well about it being everyday dutch it means what I wanted and sounds cool either way wrongly or rightly pronounced.
A set called "Gevangenis". You just made me realise how strange it would be for me if there ever really was a set that used Dutch words...
I was looking at different languages words for "prison" and thought Gevangenis sounded the coolest. Well in an English pronunciation [ghe-VAAN-jen-iss]
Also, Delve is not a good choice. Delve is a mechanic that fights against itself. If it ever appears in a normal set, it will be in small numbers, probably in a cycle of 1 card in each color. It doesn't work in large numbers!
I'll take this into account.
I tweaked Abhorrent growth so that it resembles Fireblast more however I kept the cmc low as it is a pump spell rather than direct damage. Also made Faultless Guard cast worthy with a more unique effect I don't know though if it's cost is too low now?
Gevangenis is a plane of muted colors, cold light and pale shadows. Who's inhabitant are from somewhere else and whom they themselves do not remember where nor why they are here. A place where time is distorted and linear history nearly impossible to determine. Where nothing is born but never truly dies.
However there were those who were different than all others. They waged war on the "horde of flesh & metal" the wardens of this prison. They utterly destroyed them and wiped all traces of their existence from the face of Gevangenis. But in they were too thorough in their warden's extermination and they failed in finding they key to their prison.
In resignation they divided the realm amongst themselves and began their great works. Sacrificing their "divinity" to shape the land to their liking. Providing light, sustenance, darkness, heat, and growth.
For that the Gevangenes gathered around them in awe and gratitude; constructing grand monuments of them and cities around them.
And for a period there was a golden era nearly free of the past cruel existence and crushing despair. But like all good things come to an end so too did this bright time. For unknown reasons the sun began to dim and the water began to stagnate. Fire has waned and life began to wither. Even the dark became hollow and grey.
It is long after this period that you have unfortunately arrived here planeswalker. Beware for on Gevangenis not even death is an escape.
So this is a set I have been cooking up for the past week.
As the setting suggests that "graveyard matters" is the theme but I didn't want it to just be reanimation heavy.
Since Delve has as of yet made an appearance I thought it might fit right in here. I'm still deciding on what other keyworded abilities to bring back. I was thinking either Echo or Suspend. I have a few ideas of implementing either.
