I would probably stop playing multiplayer if everyone did it all the time. You have to assume that all the things in play, aren't going to magically disappear. If you play around scooping, you are playing around the fact that a player's cards exist. You can't ignore permanents in play. I think I am going to ignore that player next to me, and focus on the other guy. The guy next to me may get a phone call and have to leave after all...

An opponent can counter my strategy with something. Maybe they will force my winning play, congrats to them. Well played. If someone concedes to my play, taking away the win, it wasn't well played. It was them quitting because it didn't go the way they wanted. It isn't a legitimate strategy. It isn't a strategy at all, you lost. You quit the game. You are out. If you are playing an Emperor game, and conceding can save your emperor, it is a different story. Then I can accept it. It is a strategy because you did it for the team, you can still win. But in a game where you conceding means you lost, killing yourself to screw someone who is going to kill you isn't a strategy. You lost, but you decided you wanted to screw over the player who out played you in the process. No legitimate strategy involves you quitting a game and losing.

MM draft... I have out 3 thallids, a cloudgoat ranger with all 3 kithkin, and 3 saproling tokens. He has nothing on board. Hit him for 12. End of turn pestermite. His turn, kiki-jiki. It was... it was going so well.

Well bonesplitter is definetly good. I think it is great in literally every deck. I don't care if you are weenie or not. It is cheap and it makes anything big enough to be relevant, weenie or otherwise. I don't know much about the different tribal decks, or how many cards there really are that are turned on by having a certain creature type. Cutting white is good if it keeps coming since it is the first pack, but this is the first pack, we can't really determine what is open. So I am going to throw in for Bonesplitter. I think it is a step above in powerlevel and I don't want to assume white is going to be open and that we will get all of the tribal cards that make the avian so much better then a white wind drake. In a vaccum I would go with bonesplitter and this early in a draft, I think that is enough.

I played this in a sealed event but didn't draft it. I also started in M10, so while I think I have relatively good card evaluation, I may not necessarily be the best suited for this format. I wasn't around when any of these cards actually saw play. With that said...

Cloudgoat Ranger is definetly a great card. Not a bad sized body, can deal some massive damage if they don't have a flying blocker, and is 6 power for 5 if nothing else. Also, I hear giants is a thing.

Riftwing, I love. Fantastic card, but I am hesitant to take it. From what I recall from the sealed event, bounce wasn't always great. This seemed especially true against green oddly enough. I feel like there are a lot of enter the battlefield effects that makes it suboptimal. Maybe it was just me being unlucky, but almost everytime I had a bounce spell, it seemed like it would help my opponent nearly as much as it helped me. This does come with a 2/2 flyer though, so maybe it would work out better.

Horobi's whisper is good removal. Removal is always great. I would consider straight removal somewhat rare in this format. There doesn't seem to be a lot that is relatively cheap and straight kills instead of dealing damage.

All 3 of the cards are double in one color or another, though riftwing could be considered the least mana intensive with the suspend cost of 1U. Though if blue ended up a splash drawing a late blue source and then suspending a card for 3 turns isn't exactly optimal, so I consider the commitment about the same.

With all that said, I am leaning toward the cloudgoat ranger if nobody has any arguements for one of the other cards.

Alright, I am fine with that.

I am kind of leaning towards the doorkeeper. I think the hover barrier is the better defensive card, and the vassal soul certainly gives us flying... but we have no early drops.

Turn/burn, guildmage with restrictive colors, murmuring phantasm and cloudfin raptor. That is basically it. I think we go for the doorkeeper here.

Am I drunk at work, or is that 3 spys in a row?

    Anyway... spy.

Pack doesn't look to great for us, so I am in agreement on the keymaster rogue.

Sorry about the long absence was on vacation.

Based on the last few picks we look to be moving into boros, and away from rakdos. Fair assesment right?

Can't argue with the above. There really isn't a lot to this pack other then the spectacle and the krasis. Taking a double black card is really not something I want to do, but it is certainly the best card in the pack for our deck. Hopefully a dimir gate will pop up in an otherwise less then exciting pack.

I am torn here. Honestly the chance that we want to use crypt incursion is really low. If we play against the golgari deck, or possibly the dimir deck, yes it would be useful. I suppose that is the point of a sideboard card, since it is just for very specific situations. I look at the card as incidental life gain, with its only real use is to stop golgari shananigans, and it really isn't that appealing.

As for clustones, I agree somewhat with bataleur. I don't like them. I don't want to play them. I will avoid them if possible, but I am also in the camp that would rather have a splash clustone, then an on color clustone. Securing my mana base comes before the utility of cycling a card. I would rather have the dimir clustone, then the izzet one. Yes it means that cycling it is less likely, but if you can't cycle the card, it also means that you have a black symbol you otherwise wouldn't have found. So if my options are never being able to cycle, or never being able to play black cards I have drawn, I will choose never being able to cycle. It reduces utility slightly in favor of stability, which I will take.

I am going to vote for dimir clustone, but I also hope it doesn't make the deck.

Runner's bane is alright, and stays in our colors. Murmuring phantasm gives us an early drop that protects us, and we currently only have defenders, which is funny. While I understand the purpose of the cyclops, it would be hilarious to build the defender deck and go for doorkeepers in rtr. I know it is silly, but silly is fun. Smile

It doesn't fit with fatal fumes, but blaze commando does fit with instants matter, and we already have two spells that deal damage. Based on that, I will vote blaze commando. I may have missed something, but I don't think we have passed much in the way of boros. So maybe we will get some flowing from the left in the next pack.
