Bought two booster packs. Pulled Precursor Golem out of one and a Mindslaver + Foil Venser from the other. Though I haven't bought boxes and boxes, it felt good to finally get something that justified my fat pack purchases where I pulled nothing I wanted. Not even a Memnite.
Grabbed a copy at G2K Games in Tennessee for MSRP today. They had four more copies if anyone happens to be in the area (highly doubt it). I've checked the two local Walmarts everyday since Friday but they haven't had them out. Didn't meander into Target to check there, though.
I was just elated to get a copy to play with. If I happen across them in Walmart in the upcoming weeks I will pick up at least one more for my own collection. I give a loud, resounding BOO to people who buy these up just to resell them on ebay.
I don't read Batman comics (except Gotham City Sirens, though that isn't really Batman), but I knew this. Probably read a report about on toplessrobot since they cover comic news quite often.
Out of curiosity I picked up one of those tiny WorldWake packs a few moments ago. 7 cards; 1 basic land, 1 soldier ally token, 3 common cards, one uncommon card, and a rare (agadeem occultist).
I also bought one of the economy packs of M10 with 30 additional cards. The additional cards are all older cards (Visions, Mirage, Homeland, etc.) Just a few uncommons, but they aren't that great.
I buy from Walmart and occasionally Target because I'm not entirely sure if there's even a dedicated brick and mortar in my immediate area. I know there's one a city over, but what I would expend in gas money would even out or even unbalance the price I pay at the 'marts.
I've only been buying from Walmart for a month or so now, but I've not noticed anything bad about the booster packs. I've come away with an Admonition Angel and Comet Storm (two of these, but one was in a booster in a fat pack) on the Mythic Rare end of things. I sprung for an economy pack once (1 booster + 35 other random cards for 6$ - probably nothing special, but i got a foil djinn of wishes this way) but haven't seen them back in stock since WW hit.
What I have been curious about is the little 6 or 7 card, 1.50$ packs they sell. Are they worth picking up? Because I could reason with myself to buy cards more often if I was just picking those up once or twice a week.
From my experience buying things from fleamarkets, like the other guy said, they do their homework for the most part. You may waltz in expecting them to just be trying to push everything out the door, but when you get around the little hobby booths for cards and video games, the guys know what they're doing. That being said, I'm sure that somewhere out there someone is breaking the mold I've described here, so it's always worth a shot.
Of course most of the cards and video games vendors at my local fleamarkets run their own hobby shops and just bring their stock over on the weekend after renting some space.
Louis C.K. is one of if not the best comic working today. I would also have to give a big nod to Patrice Oneal for his boorish but ofttimes brilliant observations, mainly on relationships. Bill Burr, Nick DiPaolo, Colin Quinn, and Jim Norton are also all fantastic in their own misanthropic way. Basically any line-up for the Traveling Virus is my dream rogues gallery. I'll stop with this handful as if I started talking about deceased comedians I might not get to bed right away, as I promised myself. Glad to see this section here, though.
Recently finished a second tour through Neil Gaiman's 'American Gods.' Next up I'm taking a short break from fiction to read Ozzy Osbourne's latest bio, 'I Am Ozzy.' After that I'm headed right back into fiction with Bret Easton Ellis's 'American Psycho.'
Go pound some more brews, broski.

Better Rizzo than Joe Buck.
