I may not have read far enough, but maybe they'll give subpar mana-fixing in the form of uncommon lands. It would be an easy 5 to put into uncommon and rare, then for next set they switch the uncommon and rare ones. Spreading it out over the entire set.
The premise of the deck is to use sac outlets and ETBs to play as control in the deck. I've built this deck as straight token aggression and token abuse, however I think i might like the direction I've taken it this time. All comments welcome and appreciated!
Have you considered Rally the Peasants? You can get two uses out of it. Maybe Fiend Hunter in the SB? Kruin Striker is okay, but I've played a peasant version and it was underpowered especially with any burn.
If you run both Thatcher and Gather, it makes Intangible Virtue slightly better.
I think some people fail to realize that this Ban-List is completely optional per play group. Say your group doesn't want that banned, vote on it. It's a HIGHLY recommended ban-list, and if you were to show up at an EDH league, you'd follow it.
This is the deck I am planning on testing digitally via Cockatrice. I'm not so convinced that we need 3-4 Restoration Angels or 3-4 Village Bell-Ringers. While nice tech and combo enablers, I think we'll be okay without them. In my original Mono-G Elf testing, Metamorph wasn't the best of choices, but I think this might be a better deck for it. It can easily double up for a greater creature (see Craterhoof Behemoth).
Also, what argument is there to be made about having x2 Craterhoof Behemoth?
Sideboard is always a big issue for myself. I simply don't know the meta (nor can I respond well enough to it) to build a cohesive one. I kinda took the best of all worlds.
Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite is a bomb after testing. In the mirror, it throws them for a loop if you can land this first. Against infect, they cease to have creatures and board-wipes. The pump is nice too, I guess.
Edit: Soul of the Harvest and Elvish Visionary are great refuel cards. Boardwipes become much less efficient when we can spit a board back out!
I'd love feedback (good and/or bad) on my thoughts and deck!
I contemplated running divine deflection instead of fog or safe passage in the sideboard. I think Safe Passage is probably the best choice (holding 3 mana open is not a good thing, but it protects in the mirror and against bonfire)
I've contemplated running Divine Deflection with all the mana we're producing. I can see the argument that with all the mana, we should be winning.
I'm currently running Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite for testing and when I can drop her down off a Wave, she tends to wipe the opponents board. Why are we not playing her? It gives us something to Genesis Wave to 7 as well. Thoughts?
Think of it this way. This is a 3cmc instant speed off color clone as a common. Considering that clone has always been a rare, partially due to limited, I call fake.
Edit; didn't notice that you need to control it. Cackling counterpart is rare, too. Then again, Devils play is rare and Rolling Thunder is common.
It's also possibly one of the most restrictive clones in the history of Magic.
I think we should wait to see what te new elf lord is. We have a cycle of lords we are waiting to see. If we follow the trend of the Merfolk lord, well have a "elves have forest walk and +1/+1". Hopefully it's a two mana lord. Well see though. I still don't like Yeva though. Akroma is too slow, and genesis is win more. I do think craterhoof is a good alt wincon with your elves if ezuri is dealt with.
To be honest, I like the flavor of it, but it's just not as good as multiple overruns or a craterhoof behemoth. You can't GSZ it, and I think it's too slow at 7 for what it does (no P/T bonus).
I love the card, so you can be sure that this will see play in every EDH deck I have
I had heard from somewhere that she had fled to Lorrwyn. I know SOME mtg lore, but not a whole boat load. I love me Zendikar era elves, and I think it's possible to see Nissa. But in reality not this soon.
If RtR is going to bring back Planeswalkers, I'm betting on a couple returning and new ones.
-Some form of Jace? (Izzet maybe?)
-New form of Gideon Jura. Possibly Selesnya or Azorius?
-Ral Zarek?
-Kiora Atua?
I think Nissa coming back in a Lorrwyn redux would be better. Also, most elves are more Simic colored are they not? Not quite the elves she'd be interested, and I think the Golgari are a bit too brutal for her.
This is what i've been testing, don't think you need to be fancy with elves, just need to be able to consistently overrun your opponent for lethal before they win, this deck does this fairly well so far.
Originally had Viridian Emissary in place of Ezuri's Archers, but the archers have been amazing for dealing with fliers as well as being just another 1 drop. They trade with delver carrying a sword and can be amazing defence when you can regen it with ezuri until you can set yourself up.
Generally you either overrun with ezuri with a couple lord effects goin on, or you green sun Craterhoof Behemoth if you just have a bunch of dorks on the battlefield.
Really fun deck, you have to be kinda lucky with your opening hand though sometimes, but generally if you can turn 2 Elvish Archdruid and untap with him still alive on turn 3 you win
Edit: Still workin' on a sideboard.
How've you found the adaptive automatons? I've found that they don't do a whole lot for three mana. I'd rather play a couple elves and prep for a archdruid or ezuri.

No it can't. Rootborn Defenses is instant. Mimic Vat uses creatures. Sorry bout it.
