I think that ROE means that almost all junk decks are going to move away from the lotus cobra style blast out of the gate style to a more rock-esque type deck with Gideon for sure. Realms uncharted is absolutely silly with a KOTR... given the scenario above, i wouldn't give my opponent the fetch lands, esp. if i see green and white. have the edge and whatever else you want...
momentous fall would be tough to work in, but i'm not saying its impossible. It seems really good to respond to a terminate/etc. and protects against blightning. Could be good.
So I'm guessing EDH Jhoira is going to get a lot more popular.
Check our Emrakul....
I agree, now that Emerakul was spoiled, I feel like a Jhoira deck could really abuse him and the other Eldrazi legend spells... It all boils down to if you want to be "That Guy"
Thats a fair point, when shards and M10 rotates, who knows how this guy will play out, but with the current state of the meta, hes not great. I know i'll be getting a few for EDH as everyone has said, but its just too overcosted to get something out of him for me.
but we don't know what else the set will bring, maybe some card that says level up as an instant, which could make him a little better.
Personally, i think that Days are an ABSOLUTE must in any Junk board... This means in decks running Mystic Package, Decks running Marshal's Anthem... They all need them... Boss Naya, any time i have played it, seen it played, wins by over extension... They may drop a Knight, and you spot removal it... but when they get Nactls BBE, AND a Knight, that makes life tough, esp. if your board is an 0/1 Heirarch, 2/1 Cobra, X/X Knight. They've got the same knight tricks as we do, and therefore i feel like Day needs to be in junk decks, because it just WRECKS boss naya. When i've beaten Naya, i've always resolved a Day or two, and then proceeded to put more threats onto the board.
Any time i've been able to out race vamps its been because i've been able to deal with their early onslaught with Day. I'd say out of the board Day is better than Coup, but MD, i'd still say 1 Coup could be sticking around, because in a tight pinch it'll provide you card advantage late game.
Plus @l3dzppln in that SB you gave, I see 0 ways to deal with a Malakir Bloodwitch, one of my biggest problems with junk. Day provides one of those answers. (other than the assumed 4 pulses that are in your deck)
I like the idea of Ob Nixilis being the 3rd planeswalker that sealed the Eldrazi a long time ago.
So does this mean that Ob Nix could possibly regain a spark and become the rumored third planeswalker in this set? I remember reading that there were supposed to be 3 of them in this set as well, in addition to the three big eldrazi
Well, going off pure speculation. In comparison to Eldrazi Monument, maybe we will have an indestructable Eldrazi?
I'm going to follow a similar route and suggest that Eldrazi Monument might coincide with the "Emeria" Eldrazi, the monument gives flying, and shes the "goddess of the sky", and as we havent seen an eldrazi with flying yet, it might make sense for it to coencide with that one.
As for this infinite Gyre business what if its something like a Reya Dawnbringer ability but from any graveyard so
11
Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre
Legendary Creature - Eldrazi
Annihilator 3
During your upkeep, return a creature card in a graveyard to the battlefield under your control.
If Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre would be put into a graveyard from anywhere, shuffle it back into your library
11/11
It would fit flavor wise, with the "infinite" recursion, being a neverending storm, and it would play really well with the Annihilator mechanic
I had the following results at the CFB 5K with my original Stoneforge Mystic Junk list:
1 match win over Spreading Seas
1 match win over Mythic
1 match loss against White Weenie
2 match wins over Jund
1 match win over URW Control
1 match win over Unearth
2 match losses against Boss Naya (I believe my sideboarding plan was wrong)
I took the updated SMJ list to a small local tournament yesterday, with these results:
1 match win over Jund
1 match loss against Mythic
1 match win over Open the Vaults
1 match win over Mono-Green Overrun Tokens
You can find the updated list here. I recommend that one, as I think it's just more refined.
What was your boarding strategy for Boss Naya? From your list i would guess something like 2 DOJ, 1 Coup, and Thornlings? -2 Path, -1 Emeria Angel, -1 Elspeth or something like that? I could also see bringing in a different strategy with the firewalkers and another mystic and collar to fight off the sparkmage collar plan.
I can say, that after a few weeks of testing, Haunting Echoes does NOT work as well as i originally thought against control. Any time i used it I got rid of their counter magic but left in either baneslayers, sphinxes or bloodwitches, and let me tell you, thinning their deck into sphinx or bloodwitch is very difficult to deal with. Just thought i'd throw that little tidbit out there.
does anyone NOT running lotus cobra have any match results vs competative decks? and if so could you post them along with deck links? i've currently been testing out a no-cobra junk deck running 3 stoneforge and 3 ranger of eos and focusing more on a curve out/ca strategy. the idea is to grant you more versatility as far as individual match strategy and atempting to not rely on the explosiveness of t3 bsa. i've done alot of testing with the cobra in the past few days mostly vs jund and U/W control and of the games i've played not hitting a t3 bsa basically takes you out of the game in both scenarios and overall my matches have been about 50-50 game one vs both decks but absolutley plummets post board.
the results from my non-cobra list aren't really as extensive or accurate mostly because the decklist changes so much that i havent really grinded out that much testing with a singular list but so far my game one matchups have slightly gone up and post board i can hover right around 50-50 to 60-40 but my sb has varied greatly in that aspect as well so again these results are far from proven. again any other tesing results w/cobra vs w/o cobra would be greatly appreciated.
also in the list without cobra's i've run between 0-4 bsa and from what i can tell i'd keep her at about 2-3 md leaning more towards 3 but she might get pushed down to 2 again for more removal. she is definatley good enough games 1+ on turns 4-7 and up if they go that long because, as we all know, her abilty to demand removal upon casting is so high and also her value in stabilizing combat situations makes her hard to pull for basically anything that would be better.
While i have made a point of disagreeing with dropping cobras, I think i've started to come around. With the amount of people running the toolbox qasali pridemage's value has definitely jumped up. Whats the point of accelerating a BSA into a terminate? I would also really love to see some kind of results from this LC-less deck, esp. @Drawmeomg's list as well as others. I'll start tinkering with it myself when i get a chance.
Whats wrong with the old dual lands? I don't see a problem with them. Sure people may not have access to them, but that doesn't stop legacy players from not using them. They're not a staple for sure, i've built many decks without them that still find ways to win, so I don't think they're that big of a deal.
Another card that I try to avoid is Strip Mine/Wasteland, Land Destruction really makes people dislike you, so avoiding it at all costs is necessary for me.

And that is up to you.
But dang is Emerakul good. Just crazy crazy good.

Maro said in a later tweet that you would not be down any cards at the resolution of the spell.
U
Sorcery
As an additional cost to play XXXX sacrifice a land
Draw three cards.
That would negate the great first turn amazingness of the card, so you could be up three cards but at least 1 land behind... I also agree with the
U
Sorcery
Draw three cards, target opponent draws 4 cards.
