This the deck I'm gonna use in the next legacy tournament it's a zombie deck in a stompy shell. I know it could be stronger using cards outside zombies but I'm just participating to have fun and this is kinda of a pet deck.
So we have the regular mana base with a urborg to help smooth the lifeloss, the usual artifacts to perform the lock and here surges a contradiction with the use of Dark Ritual, it's a shame we don't have a black Seething Song. I'm still testing but it seems too good to not include. There´s a lot of equipments to help the lack of evasion and the lifeloss, SoLaS can get you back the card you discard with Raptor.
The creatures used are Putrid Raptor (kinda Gathan Raiders), Undead Warchief, great pump and we can play it really soon, Graveborn Muse for CA, etc... pretty much the best zombies that aren't 1 or 2 cmc or 3 with double black in their cost.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
could you guys help me build the sideboard? I don't know how the meta will look like but I expect to face all kind of top decks
i'm gonna use my zombie stompy buid in a legacy tournament, does anyone has any advice?
I'm thinking of use helm of obedience and leyline of the void in the sideboard, but don´t know the meta I'll have to figure out the other slots
thanks
I always do that, shocklands hurt a lot and I need to stay alive
I've cutted the jaces for 2 Ghost Quarter, after they won me a game against zoo post board, he ran out of basic lands
Still not sure about smallpox, but it was very good when I use it, may replace firespout
E.E. are great, played it a lot of times turn3 activating with just 1 counter to sweep the board
Gonna add one more mb, and maybe also a FJ
I may try Chalice of Void mb
is there anything we can use mainboard against dredge?
Yes I run 4 colors. Zoo is where Smallpox really pays off. Your turn 2 Smallpox really sets them back as they usually run 20 or less lands. Then Raven's Crime can finish off the hand a bit. I do run 2-3 Terminates in mine for extra removal. Wurm Harvest did win me a few games last testing. If I were you, I would run a basic land suite of 2 Swamp, 1 Forest, 1 Mountain, 1 Island. Trust me on this. Ghost Quarter is big right now.
I'll try smallpox maybe in firespout spot, I'll trust I don´t usully build manabases of this kind I didn´t put a lot of effort on it
I'll maybe use this deck in the next month tournament in the portuguese magic site I attend.
I agree Cruel Ultimatum is better, I run 4... Time Strech is just my backup plan. In my opinion is better than Din of the Fireherd, you may disagree.
Are you also running 4 colors?
that was dumb, I forget indestructibility, however it kills hexmage
I played against zoo earlier, it wasn't pretty and I just cracked two fetches none finding shocklands. I lost turn 4 (his) with helix online, one more turn and I would have casted 2/3 ultimatums, I'll defenitely add chrome mox I missed FJ (I only had 2 RC in hand) it could have killed nacatls and white kird apes before they grew.
cutted the creatures from mainboard
current decklist:
You realize the token you created with Din effects that spell right? Din and Harvest are in there in case of an extirpate'd Cruel. Time Stretch was debated and cut out early in the discussion. Your turn 1-5 should be used to disrupt their game plan via Raven's Crime and Small Pox. That's when you set up the Helix.
Problem with Thopter Combo is it dies to the same hate that this deck dies to. If anything, I was thinking of transformational SB to straight aggro (take out Helix and Cruels). But that wouldn't work cause it wouldn't improve your matchups.
Will be testing again in a few days when I see land again. I'm really thinking 4 Trickbind in the deck is needed now. With the Tormod's Land, Fetchlands, Hexmage, etc it could really swing a game our way. Not sure what to take out.
Of course I do but the token, at least the first time helix triggers, will be the only creature you have and you won't be drawing any cards, that´s why I prefer time stretch, I know it has been discussed, I read the whole thread before post, but I don't agree it isn´t useful, if you trigger the helix with time stretch imprinted you win because they won't take any other turn.
yeah about smallpox I never tried it, is that good? I think I prefer use board sweepers.
I also don´t think RC is enough, I really like to have FJ
the thopter combo really has that problem that´s why I meantioned I will probably take it out, the other day I used it to bait the guy I was playing against it was cool
trickbind looks cool
how many lands are you guys running?
I'm gonna start running engineered explosives MD, it's catches all kind of tokens (marit lage, thopters) and a lot of creatures since I'm running 4 colours
btw I don´t usually write in english I'm sorry for any grammar/spelling fail
How useful have Din of the Fireherd and Worm Harvest been? I use time stretch because I can just play solitaire with it, I'll perhaps cut one to include worm harvest, but idk it seems just good late game... Din of the firehead, without other creatures, just seems a bad ultimatum. I'm thinking of include maindeck volcanic fallout, it's good against aggro and specially dredge hasty tokens... cutting the creatures and something else, if I get time stretch working i can just wait until I find the ultimatum... Other thing I could do is move to the sideboard the thopter combo and up the land count, I'm just running 21 lands (however I never felt like I needed more ), or add some chrome mox, has the speed it provides been worth it?
and about Ancestral Visions? I like to discard with compulsive research and with mox it can be used turn 2
if that was the only thing missing to start the combo I would just dredge lftl until I get it into the graveyard I guess, even because I will cast RC/FJ in the firsts turns if I can and them won´t have it in my hand to reveal
I'm thinking of using the new jace instead of the old one.
the thopter combo has been useful against my friend's elf deck (it's not the elf combo deck, just an aggro one) holding my life around ten before I start the ultimatums
thanks, if I would take ashen ghoul out I would prefer to have Ghostly Changeling, it would get deadtouch from death baron and can pump itself... but with ashen ghoul can enter the battlefield for just B and has haste, that's why I use 2... I will test
Edit: I would rather use Cadaverous Knight, Sanguine Guard or more Stillmoon Cavalier instead of shapeshifters, they´re real zombies
I've been messing around with this deck since I saw it in wizards website... recently I've added the thopter combo... I never used smallpox or chrome mox, don't know about their use in this deck
here´s my decklist:
what do you guys think? I'll perhaps add some damnation, because firespout imprinted has no effect. With time stretch and ruins/lftl it's easy to get infinite turns in which you have ob nixilis (nice with lftl), meloku (you get tokens and your lands back) and jace as finishers. those are also good on their own. I also would like to add a singleton worm harvest as kill condition. I could replace some draw spells with a transmute card (for 3).
thoughts?
Hi everyone, new guy around here
I've read the whole thread and I wanna to congratulate Halted Asylum for his great work. Now about zombies, my favorite tribe, first deck I've built and a tribe I would real like to play competitively. I tried spalsh other colours, go suicide, etc but it doesn't seem to be enough. Currently I'm trying a Stompy shell and I would like some opinions.
Here's the decklist:

I've been testing with some friends, and it has been good, against someone playing elves I've droped trinisphere first turn, turn 2 ashen ghoul, turn 3 putrid raptor and chalice@1, turn 4 undead warchief, flip raptor, won next turn
changes:
-2 Fleshbag Marauder
-4 Skulking Knight
+2 Ashen Ghoul
+4 Warpath Ghoul
still don't know about dark ritual
it's a very fun deck, with squee you get free tokens every turn, with haakon you can play the creatures you've discarded, vial lets you put haakon and squee in play, nameless inversion can be used repetitively and you can flashback cabal therapy and replay the creature.
any thoughts?

1 Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth
4 Ancient Tomb
4 City of Traitors
Creatures
4 Putrid Raptor
4 Undead Warchief
