    Yeah but I hated Ravnica.

That's not a good reason. You always run the better card.

I still don't see how the Rock is competitive without a sweeper

Is there a reason I don't see decks running Read the Bones? I had thought the card was generally well received

I've been pondering that it can exile Gods, but it's still little narrow as Golgari Charm has almost every other enchantment covered and is more versatile. And I don't think artifacts are going to be too big this format. It would be a sideboard card at best.

Excellent point that I overlooked. I think it might depend on what type of possible "recursion" spells/effects that might be yet to be spoiled. i.e. - does the exile effect make it better than GCharm? depends on the ability to get these things back from the GY. my ultimate feeling is that while maybe for THS GCharm might ultimately end up being better, this card wouldn't have been printed if there wasnt some way to get an artifact or enchantment back from your GY somewhere in this block, so it might get a spot over GCharm somewhere down the road when those spells come in (depending on what kind of threat they pose).

Fade into Antiquity is big, even at CMC3 and sorcery speed. I love the tools we are getting.

I think to be viable we really need a sweeper... or a mini-sweeper... Thoughts on this?

I Really want to try the new Mythic Gorgon as an alternate finisher. Right now U/B has no real sweeper which could change but until then a 7/9 board sweeper doesn't sound too bad.

    why 4x Quicken?

My only loss tonight was versus jund, planeswalkers are a real hard thing to deal with, considering putting pithing needle back in.

I'm wondering if she helps make The Rock viable post rotation. Still would need a sweeper... but... yeah.

I've played with card, and it is pretty bad. Does not net you a card, which is what we are used to from Augur. Would much rather just run Quicken.

On the other hand, Hundred Handed One is bonkers as a creature in this deck. his vigilance plus monstrosity basically stops weenie attacks. combined with thassa he is a free 3-6 damage a turn. W/U needs to be proactive during an entire set rotation. Holding back and biding time will be useless, because with every set rotation come an over abudance of hyper aggresive decks that love PW's.

I hadn't really been looking at Hundred Handed One. He's pretty good value for his CMC. I don't think anyone can say "don't use Omenspeaker, use Hundred instead". Hundred Handed doesn't step into the 2 cmc slot. The increase in PWs that we are inevitably going to see especially in the RG decks are going to mean maindecking more DSpheres for sure. I still haven't seen a list that has a "good" choice for a cmc2 slot for a U/W build... maybe one will be spoiled?

As BlasphemousPhact said, Omensspeaker is actually not that good. The Scry Lands give no value for Omenspeaker to be good, It gives me a redundancy, and If we want free scry effects Scry lands are enough.

If you are going to run Esper, then yes you have Scry lands. If you are running a U/W build you have no scry lands. Omenspeaker might have more of a home in U/W but not so much in U/B or Esper?

edit - I'm interested in hearing which permanents folks think are likely going to be included for value that also contribute to getting a Devotion of 5. It adds another layer of needed analysis to the deck - picking permanents that have staying power and give you value as far as what they do and how their mana cost is composed.

I'd like to see some type of black sweeper... I'm not the biggest fan of Consume the Meek, so I am hoping for something else. But I'm not going to hold my breath

There's only one way to do this. You must tap a land, then tap each land in response to the previous until all the burning earth triggers are on the stack.

Then with these still on the stack, cast revelation in response. Revelation resolves and gains you life then burning earth triggers X times and you lose life.

This situation led to one of the funniest wins I've seen. UWR player at 5 life with a bunch (10 I think, only 1 basic) of land and a revelation (and an empty board). A gruul player across from him down to 2 life, but with several creatures, domri on board along with a burning earth. The UWR player revelates for 6 into a pillar of flame to win the game.

This is brilliant. Must remember this. It's the little things like this in this game that make it so fun.

The only thing that worries me is that mutilate won't be as effective with all the enchantment creatures and monstrous creatures around. Theros seems to either want fatties or a horde of weenies.

There is no Mutilate in Standard anymore when Theros comes in
