So after getting the apparently very new Thinkpoint virus a couple hours ago, culminating in the eventual removal of over 40 trojans, I had an idea to make this thread because to be honest, while it was an annoying virus, there was one part about it that was funny as hell.
Part of the thing it did was send (about every 5 seconds) a fake critical error. Some of these were alright, but some were either targetted at or written by someone who is just plain computer illiterate. These included something like "RAM has overheated and is being shut off", meanwhile my computer would continue running, and one informing me: "No hard drive detected" and that my computer was now running without a hard drive, apparently.
I've heard of one someone got from 4chan that constantly played a clip from some religious propaganda radio recording as well and thought that was pretty good.
So the idea is to get Hazes out and use Heroes Remembered, Chronomantic Escape, Chronozoa, and Epochrasite to stall until a win condition, which is most likely a Word Queller with several upkeeps or a Panoptic Mirror'd Dust of Moments (combined with Chronomantic escape, you are invincible unless they have a removal for mirror or escape).
To be honest after running draw sims it seems like Heroes Remembered might actually be too slow. I do really like the deck's synergy however.
Does anyone have any other ideas that would fit in a deck involving both Zur and Haze, with presumably World Queller as a win condition (Perhaps another way to accomplish a win condition)?
I know things like Lotus Blooms would be nice, but I don't really want to spend more on it or Ancestral Visions.
Great idea Jbear, I'm not really an expert on alternative lands.
Rite of consumption is something I thought of , but I decided i'd rather use trample or unblockable to accomplish a kill because if they counter a Rite I cannot avoid fate it, and then my creature's gone too. Still something to consider I suppose.
I'll admit I've been misreading sudden spoiling as a single target spell. I'm not entirely sure if it's better than infest here though, since the idea is to hopefully wipe their board instead of give them chump blockers. Flourishing defenses is a good idea too.
So the idea is to use quillspike and/or heartmender to maintain persist chump blockers until you get one of the big combos (quill+druid, quill+husk+persist, persist+mender+infest [too cheap for Damnation]) and then, if necessary, use Rancor or Canopy Cover to get a kill.
Canopy covers are also in to protect high priority targets, such as quill, druid, and liege; as are Avoid Fates.
I'm pretty satisfied with this deck, but was wondering if anyone else had any other good ideas for it, such as a more efficient way to accomplish what Rancor, Canopy Cover, and Avoid Fate together accomplish.
Interesting... I thought my build already had corrosive mentors in it. Hah. It turns out I forgot a lot of good things, like it and Tatterkite (how did I forget Tatterkite?).
As for quillspike I've already got a persist deck with the infinite combo, not really interested in two decks working off quillspike.
Also, it seems all the people running this like to have wither pingers. Can anyone with experience running this confirm if that's mandatory or just a side theme you can use. I'd rather run a Tatterkite and mass counter production style deck.
Also, I forgot contagion clasps. Good idea to put those in?
EDIT: I remembered that I took mentors out because it would benefit very few creatures. After reading a couple things im thinking of going for a fairly different type of deck wherein they would be more helpful.
This way I can turn one harbinger and turn 2 summon a lasher if I know i'm facing a life boost deck, and it feels very fast to me with a lot of fetches. The 4 tatterkite seems necessary to me since I can almost always tutor an elemental anyway, and this strategy will be heavily benefited by the kite.
Decided to make a RB wither with mostly elementals in order to use Flamekin Harbinger and Smokebraider for some acceleration. My biggest problem with wither is that it ends up being slow, and by doing this I like where the deck is going but feel like it's not quite there yet.
For example, I love the idea of Carnifex demon, but since he isn't an elemental he's kind of slow... If anyone has an alternative (besides banshee) then I'd be happy to hear it.
I like your idea of swapping reverb for Ashlings. I'm tempted to try thunderblusts or ball lightnings but I'm not sure about it yet. As for liege of the tangle, I'd rather use things I could hard summon in case they're removing my Soulstokes (my group has a lot of W exile and UW control players).
As for fling, you're right, but the thing is I should only really be using fling/consumption on things during my turn anyway (since it'll pretty much only be used on things that have been soulstoked in). Unless I decide to fling a pumped Ashling...
I decided my current 3 decks I had were fun but don't cut it in my new casual mtg circle. So I took their basic ideas, and tweaked them into semi-budget casual decks. Now that I finally got them all balanced how I want them, I'm not sure which to get first. Feedback and tips would also be cool, I haven't played a whole lot of magic nor done too much deckbuilding.
First one is designed around the Lorwynn flamekin as well as some burn:
First off: I know this has been discussed, but I cant find any threads that are quite what I want.
Heya, I've been looking to start a deck revolving around largely the card in the title. I've already got some great ideas, but there are so very many options I do not even know where to begin. I'd like to keep it on a budget, and i should start by saying i already have i think 3 paradox hazes (though i'll be picking up a fourth for sure), 3 reality strobes, and 4 chronozoa (yay chronozoa!).
I'm looking for both general ideas and full decks that people have tried out.
I already have many ideas, like chronozoa, followed footsteps, perhaps even a build with thallids and Doubling Season (imagine that craziness).
I'm almost sure to fit Epochrasite in there, Bloodhall Ooze, Perhaps a Mycoloth, and definitely 4x Copy Enchantment.
The strategy I want to use is combining upkeeps from paradox haze (as well as copies of it from copy enchantment) to create plenty of creatures like chronozoa early on, and then transition into big creatures like Mycoloth and Bringer of the Blue Dawn, etc. I like the idea of Bringer of the Blue Dawn because im going to need some draw, but im concerned that if i have a couple paradox hazes itll be too much draw and i'll mill myself.
I'd definitely be running mostly blue mana, and at least some red (to make sure i can use Jhoira).
Again, there are plenty of things I have to tune (do i need to splash green or will Jhoira be enough? which big creatures would work best?)
I expect i'll be using something like 10u 5r 5g and relying on jhoira for any white or blacks i put in.
