Sure, the Sword makes any creature as good/better than a Vengevine, but without them, and Elspeth to jump them, nor the removal (in V2.0 at least) does this deck have the ability to switch gears from control to beatdown like NLB does? I mean, sure, you can randomly draw a Sovereigns and win the game right there, like Mythic does, but beyond that, I don't think you can rely on Sphinx to get you there in a stalemate situation (of course, if it gets to the point of recurring Dauntless Escort (which is in the sideboard, presumably?), you'll win a ground stalemate, but at 1 Titan, that's iffy...)
Also, the Ranger is a lost slot now. Hierarchs are nice for exalted, but you aren't recurring Vengevines. That's a slot that can become anything.
On to your recursion targets: they don't do enough. Your first Stoneforger is great, your 2nd? 10? Not quite as good. Without the Vengevine/Elspeth endgames, you're relying on Wall of Omens to find you Sovereigns, which may get there, but it's slow. Perhaps a Fauna Shaman or two to get you those Sovereigns? They wear a Sword as well as anybody, so they don't detract from one of your endgames while allowing you to find your other endgame. Plus they'll allow you to squeeze more out of your side and main, when you have fewer Escorts, Pridemages, Mystics, with the ability to fetch them.
Anyways, those are my thoughts. I wouldn't take this as gospel, and I may be wrong about the effective of the Sword as your (primary, it seems) finisher, but a little more resilience will make up for the loss of attrition-battle-winning Vengevines/Elspeth, and provide the adaptability that NLB thrives on.
Edit: it may be risking too much reliance on Sun Titan, but baby Jace is so nice to recur.
Seems I forgot to add in the list that there is 4x Vengevine. I was reading your post and was like "...he keeps coming back to no vengevines, they are in the deck." so Sorry for that confusion, editing the list right now.
Tried fauna shaman, she is very good, but early game she is slightly a dead card, late game she is a house(setting up a great 2-3x vengevine win) but it just didn't quite flow with her.
On the dauntless topic, They will probably be in the sideboard, as will the removal, still havent built a sideboard as we have only tested for a day but like I said, V.2.0. Hopefully we will find a spot for some condems/paths or at least some o-rings to get rid of pesky planeswalkers.
The other night while laying in bed thinking of how much I love NLB but also liked how Mythic can just win the game on turn 3-5 it occured to me...take the two decks and smash them together.
So I did just that, but the first draft just failed. Literally failed, it was so clunky and jank that every opening hand it felt like I couldn't rely on my deck to pull through for me. So, a friend and I set out to better my mistake and fix the deck.
Here is the list we have currently. It's a mix of my homesake(gibantiform), NLB and some throw backs to Boss Naya.
You may notice that there are no Elspeth's. Thats because A) I do not own any(anymore sold them for high rather than low in a month or two) and B) This deck just doesnt really need them yes they are SUPER good but the deck does just fine with out them so far.
Also, this is the no removal version. We decided to go balls to the walls and just got for it and its not the best idea. We will probably add paths/condems back in soon thisis just version 2.0.
So far the deck plays out like NLB creating huge card advantage and then switches gears and ends the game in 1-2 turns. Sword of vengance is so sick on any creature. You hook up your Knight and he will almost always get in for 1-4 points, Hook up a Sea Gate and you block anything and gladly trade. The kicker is definatley Sun Titan, Being able to bring back a knight after they wipe is sooo good. Also it has the potential to chain Dauntless which pretty much ends the game for U/W.
I really like Ajani right now. I never liked him, but as of last night where he won me two games he is my MVP. Against jund he keeps one of their savage lands/man lands tapped down for a few turns then when you need that extra 3 damage you're like: 'Swing for 6 you go down to 3....you probably have lethal next turn....Oh, good old lightning helix how I love thee.'
10 Person fnm last night. Started off by thinking we weren't going to get enough as everyone and their mom's father are going to the PTQ today. But we got 10 and got going
Round one-Runeflare Trap(Store owners just grabbed a deck)-2-0(1-0)
Round two-RDW-2-1(2-0)
Round three-Jund(The person I drove up with so we knew what each other was playing) 1-2(2-1)
Round four-Jund-Convinced him to draw so we'd both make it into the top four(even though no matter who lost we would still make it in)(2-1-1)
Top Four
Round '1'-Jund(same guy as my last round, horrible parrings imo) 2-1 (3-1-1)
Round '2'- Jund(person I drove up with)-We drew to make it end faster in hopes of drafting but everyone decided to go babysit for a baneslayer(yes a freaking baneslayer)
So I tied for first for my first ever toping in a tournament. I think last night was a very good night.
Nope, im fairly new so that why I posted here for help.
Np, I was just wondering, I'd switch out the Trailblazer boots for Behemoth Sledge. Cut two Armament master for two Kor Firewalker maybe....I dunno, all in all it seems pretty solid for a kor deck, granted it isn't teir one worthy but it could be fun for a 'joke' fnm build
I've been playing around with this deck and I was all for R/W Stax only, the blue just seemed it wouldn't be as great but after testing a bit I've been thinking of switching it up to an American stax list. It's completely unfished and this is just a rough draft.
That leaves us with 22 lands, which seems rather small to me. Maybe droping it to 2x Kazuul and 2x Sphinx. Those are the only two I can think of dropping to make it to 24 lands, and doing that makes me very sad(as Sphinx is one of my favorite cards, and Kazuul is going to be a huge target with legs)
A Rough Sideboard is looking like this:
3x Earthquake
3x Negate
3x Esscence Scatter
?x Kor Firewaler
?x Celestial Purge
@Crix: Why not run Canopy Cover over Nimbus? It might help more early game having troll-shroud on a creature.
Because that card has just been 'released' and also, I was stating my current build, I havent added in any WWK cards in until it becomes T2 legal then I'll go ahead and probably add in both.
I've been playing this deck and stalking this thread for a while and am in love with this deck. I hve found that adding in one Nimbus Wing's is just great. Think about it. Your BSA has been killed and you're facing down an army of little chumpers. Your warmonk is an gigantiform'd beast but they have enough blockers to kill it. So you attack with it and your SoLA's ability triggers. Go search for your Celestial mantel, nut wait, it wont let it live so you grab you're nimbus wings. and your warmonk flies over for lethal damage.
This list just worked so much better. Cut the Crabs and the Mind Funerals for Peek Sphinx, more Echos and the Permission. Funerals just didn't seem to work for us, it always went top 3 land then about 4-7 cards and last land....I never got close to the mythical 18+ funeral.
Sure Crabs+Fetch=amazing fun but running 8 fetches just didn't seem mathematically right to us, plus the life lost makes a difference in this meta of aggro.
We also decided to go of a more 'control' route with the shroud, permission and the bounce. 3 Echos may seem like a lot but I have found that it is the right number.
We haven't made a sideboard yet as we haven't had the time, I'm thinking 3x Flashfreeze, 1x of the other 2 counters, 2x Into the Roil, 1x Peek Sphinx, and that's all I have worked out.
Know my list may need more draw(A.k.a. Jace) but I haven't found a slot for them. Let me know what you think of the list. Criticism is welcomed
This came up in a test in MWS. I was playing against a person running an allies deck, he had an Kabira Evangel out and dropped an ally. He proceeded to choose to give his creatures pro blue, dropped another ally and gave them pro white. I had a Wall of Denial out and a Sphinx of Jwar Isle. He swung with two of his Umara Raptor, and I proceeded to block them with my two creatures.
Know my understanding of Protection means that it can't be targeted or dealt damage by a source of said color, but it can still be blocked.
The opponent said I was wrong and that they could not block.
If you can clear this up for me and give me the correct ruling on this, that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the comments.

Actually not until the 5th when it is offically released
This deck is so fun to play. I'm excited to try out the newest decklist and see how bad I can crush un-suspecting opponents.
Because that card has just been 'released' and also, I was stating my current build, I havent added in any WWK cards in until it becomes T2 legal then I'll go ahead and probably add in both.
1x Plains
4x Arcane Sanctum
4x Glacial Fortress
4x Drowned Catacombs
3x Sphinx of Jwar Isle
4x Spreading Seas
4x Esper Charm
4x Path to Exile
4x Archive Trap
3x Negate

2x Into the Roil

Thanks all for the quick answer[s].
Also,
I can still block a Baneslayer Angel with a Malakir Bloodwitch, correct?
Know my understanding of Protection means that it can't be targeted or dealt damage by a source of said color, but it can still be blocked.
The opponent said I was wrong and that they could not block.
If you can clear this up for me and give me the correct ruling on this, that would be greatly appreciated.
