Ok. Blackorpheus sending me to this thread has convinced me to check the format out. Is there a good way to get a list of every card in the pool? I know I can search for "common" on gatherer, but I also know that things like Hymn weren't released as commons online.

Magiccards.info lets you search for commons that are released on mtgo.

    related anecdote:

i have a GW saproling deck that has sets of both Soul Warden and Essence Warden maindeck. i got three of them in play before my storm opponent could go off.

i gained 96 life. the stack took a full minute to resolve.

    i won that game.

    I love Spore Cry.
I do think the safe passage would help for the grapeshot part though.
That's a pretty bad move to try empty the warrens while you have the wardens out.

In pauper there are NO uncommons allowed. As much as I love magma jet, it shall not pass.

Maybe swap sparkmage for keldon marauders.
You can abuse it with the ninja.

I personally love Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Dragonauts in my U/R (non-Faerie) deck. It's awesome with the amount of burn you already have.

Attack. No blocks? lightning bolt, lightning bolt?

When a player casts time warp in 2HG or teams does that team take an extra turn, or does that one player take an extra turn like blightning would make only one player discard two cards?

I find that the grey is a very unsettling colour.
I really liked the white. It's very soothing.

I like the block for the rules rather than the highlight so maybe that could be the light grey, or maybe a light blue.
I would also vote for the boarder back around the card and summary area like the old one. The boarder makes it seem neater to me.

Those are just my opinions. I use the site for everything and really like the new changes otherwise.

    Thanks for a great site.

It seems like there are waves of "What everybody is playing."

It's pretty much rock paper scissors with more options. paper does good for a few weeks, so everyone chooses paper. then someone wins with scissors and everyone plays scissors. It just keeps going around and around.

The last two months have been, what beats UB control? Goblins! what beats goblins? WW! what beats that? Storm! YAY!
Now we'll see lots of people with storm, and the week after or after that, we'll see the storm hate. maybe UB control?

I'll agree too. That's why I play out all of my games to the end. Even when I come across a game where it's completely one sided I still play it out and not just concede. It's dissapointing for me because they don't feel quite as fun, but you can still learn a lot from losing. That's just how magic works.

The only card I was ever sad to see in the casual room was when someone dropped mishra's factory against me. I was running a deck I completely made up, and they were just all MTGO classic staples. Thaaat was a little rough, but hey. It's not the end of the world.

I think it was masters 2 that had starter decks with mishra's factory. I bought two of those decks and put them together when I was just getting into magic. I have since picked op two more of them because I thought they were a neat card and I liked to use them. I didn't think they were all that powerful, but oh well. My deck other than that is pretty much super low budget and still playing off of the starter fungus theme. I think it's a fun deck to play and sometimes I win too. What I get dissapointed in, is when I see people coming in with all dual lands from the masters with fetches and using isochron scepterand force of wills with a super permission deck where there is no way I could possibly win, but it's going to be 15 more turns before I die because they didn't draw a goyf yet. Isn't that a tournament winning legacy deck or something?

    Pros:
    Automatic rules enforcement.
Play limited or cunstructed, any format, anytime, anywhere.
You can ignore jerks if you happen upon one.

    Costs:
Limited- Boosters cost the same as paper boosters so a tournaments will run you about the same price as paper limited minus the cost of getting to the tournament. You can also trade your cards for tickets and packs and use your prize packs to feed your next draft.
Constructed- If you know what you're making, you don't need to buy boosters. Buying singles is a much cheaper way to go. MTGOTraders and bots are good places to pick up singles.

    Liquidity:
If you trade all of your cards in for tickets, then you might be able to find someone to buy your tickets for real money over paypal. Maybe to someone with a reputable ebay acount or somone with high posts in these forums. I don't know if mtgsalvation would monitor these trades like the do for card for card trades.

You get to play anytime, anywhere.
Even though you can't touch your cards, you still can sell them and trade them like you would for paper cards.
With the exception of a few cards, mtgo cards are about half the price or less than their paper counterparts, if you want to play play constructed. MTGOTraders is a good place to buy singles. There are also plenty of bots where you can pick up mass ammounts of commons and uncommons for $1. If you're interested in pauper there are some bots that give away commons. You are allowed 64 commons which you can do again after a certain ammount of time. Also for constructed, there are casual and tournament practice rooms where you can play limitless amounts of free games.
If you want to play sealed, tournaments cost about the same as paper tournaments, but you can usually find one that fits your schedule. You also don't have to pay for transportation. If you do well in them, prizes might even pay for your next event. If you're good you might not have to pay very much at all, but even a moderate player should get some discount from prizes after a while.

    Edit:
The rules enforcement makes sure you and your opponent are playing a legit game. It also helps you better yourself as a player because you always see how the correct ruling turns out.
There are some jerks, but you always get that anyway even in paper. I heard more about the jerks before I signed up, but the friendly people outnumber them by far. I usually don't worry about it anyway because the rules enforcement leaves me worry free about a correctly played game (rules wise).

Thanks everybody. I think that pretty much covers most of the decks I see in play.
I think I'll get some time later this week to move them to the front page.
I might be able to put together some of these decks and play them online some time, then maybe I can start to write some primers.
