@Weed, the first cards are actually from Darksteel. Tangle Golem, Spire Golem, ect..
In my meta, Orichi Leafcaller is in almost every green deck with another color. In Commander, as it is. Maybe after a few more posts in edh theads, maybe you'll see more mentions of the leafcaller:)
And the LoL isn't used constantly in the manner in which I made it seem. I did so in an attempt to be humorous. It is, however, how I feel when anyone uses the Library to discard into their library.
@Mr. Down, I know, right? (About the first thing)
I don't think Leafcaller has ever been rated, much less overrated. I've also never seen any of the golems played in EDH. Your playgroup may not be representative of the community on this one.
It's amazing how much just having the hate out there holds some decks back. I was playing a game with Savra the other day where someone dropped Relic of Progenitus, and I pretty much just played draw go for several turns because I couldn't use Life from the Loam to get running. A 1 drop artifact that shuts someone down is definitely worth something.
Mill is a pretty sketchy strategy in EDH a lot of the time, though you get different mileage depending on your playgroup, for a couple reasons. First is that Eldrazi legends are not uncommon and can show up in any deck, and that makes it difficult to win (either Stifle the trigger or exile them in response, which leaves the rest of the yard getting shuffled in)with traditional milling, unless you can reliably get and keep Leyline of the Void out. Second is that some deck utilize their yard pretty heavily, and milling them is akin to drawing them a ton of extra cards (though GY hate shuts them down as well, and you should have that).
While I'm not saying mill is the wrong way to build Wrex, just be aware that he can be built without any mill cards and still do well. (Also @zer0faults I'm not criticizing your deck or you, just noting this at the op)
Yeah, that's the play my mono-B deck tries to play for a lot. I can usually swing a few times before someone draws Path or Swords or Crib Swap
I have to ask how often you can pull off a three card combo turn two in this format. The odds of that happening seem really bad, even with aggressive mulligans.
I like a couple of the walkers better in foreign languages, and it's not too hard to keep a copy in English around. I've got Japanese versions of both Chandraas in my Kumano deck, for example. There are a few other walkers where another language just seems to fit as well.
Great to see Patron getting some love. I generally skip Trade Routes when I'm considering cards because of the Mindslaver dangers, but here it really would shine. Thanks for the suggestion.
Agreed. You want to make the most out of it, but doing so would mean that when it's not out, you're having more permanets come into play tapped which can be deadly when it comes to tempo.
I generally don't think it's worth the slot.
It can be a combo piece and it fits into some decks, like Geth, really well. But generally it's not great.
Step 1: Deal 1pt of damage to target player with Triskelion. (Two on the first iteration of the combo)
Step 2: Deal 1 pt of damage to Triskelion with the last +1/+1counter (thus the sac outlet).
Step 3: In reponse, tap Cauldron of Souls so that when Triskelion goes to the graveyard, it will come back with persist.
Step 4: When Triskelion goes to graveyard, Dross Scorpion triggers, untapping Cauldron of Souls.
Step 5: Triskelion comes back to play (with persist) and a +1/+1 and the -1/-1 cancel out, leaving only two +1/+1 counters on Triskelion...thus allowing for another persist effect to become enabled.
Step 6: See Step 1
I'm pretty sure this works....
You're right. I didn't think that through well enough.
You do realize Maralen has no interaction with the upkeep?
She's probably better as an inclusion in another deck. Preferably one that can flash her in eot, because most groups aren't going to let you keep her on teh board long enough to use her when you tutor up the removal for them.
Cauldron/Trike/Scorpion isn't an infinite combo without a sac outlet. +1/+1 and -1/-1 counters cancel each other out by removing one of each, not by coexisting.

Make that Hell's Caretaker and you can cycle any two etb creatures indefinitely.

Random other cards? Doesn't make any sense to me.

You are correct. Yet another case of RTFC.
