The card isn't very good though, the fire-breathing ability gets exponentially better with 3 or more artifacts under your control than the traditional fire-breathing ability, but its pretty conditional.
7 mana though? ouch, better priorities mana myr greatly in packs 2 and 3...
Jan 20, 2011The card seems unexciting but I mean in a fast deck like WWQ it could be good as, although its not very consistent, when it does go off its fast enough that the specter ability will be relevant because your opponent will still have cards in hand and with the few lands the deck runs, you'll really get value out of your turns by being able to keep up emerge unscathed mana or what have you post combat where the deck typically ends up tapping out all of its 2 or 3 lands precombat for equipment shinanigans.Posted in: The Rumor Mill
Also if infect does move into the top tier of the metagame, this will find its way into people's side boards simply for the +2/+2 pro. B/G and who knows, maybe even still as B, and particularly G are so prevalent in the current meta, albeit not together.

mark. Maybe its an exception because of the
whole mirran v. phrexian, but Memoricide
buy-a-box versioncame with 5 mana watermark
so who knows.

Wizards have been designing cards for EDH
for a while now and now they just have an
official outlet to do so, its still a player
community run format so thats good.
Besides I've been wanting to build a BGW
graveyard EDH deck for a bit now and that

This deck is a lot differant than the Pyromancer deck of old, you dont try to just combo out and in on a specific turn, it plays much more like a control deck with an insane card advantage engine than a combo deck.
2 Call to mind is all you need, 3 is too much, once you get to the point where you want to be call to minding you will have plenty of library manipulation.
This could be a real contender this standard season, what hate cards are the hardest to play around/through? War priest of thune is easy enough to beat (into the roil'ing PA in responce or just playing multiple ascentions) White leyline is easy enough to beat with into the roil. Memoricide seems like it could hurt a lot if it comes down before ascention or if its played in a deck that can bounce/destroy the ascention.
I SB frost titan (2 of) in every single matchup and its actually how I win most of my game2/3's. Ive been wondering if it'd be good maindeck or if that would just make it worse (people leave in removal).

You'll get 3 SoM packs and 3 faction boosters.
So to make money off those three boosters you'll
have to wait long enough that those boosters are
Urza's legacy boosters are around 10 dollars each
and they seem to be the most recent booster pack
to reach that level and they are 11 years old now.
So basically you'd have to keep them for at least 11
years (maybe less because they are limited edition,
but maybe more because they provided nothing different
a regular Besieged booster wouldn't provide) and you'll
just make your money back.
Personally, I'd rather just crack them all and have a fun
day of magic.

I don't think its that great. Chapin is right, theres just
way too many dead cards in the deck. Drop the archive
traps and other trap cards and just run straight up UR
I was playing similarly that way pre-rotation as I didn't
feel like investing 40 some dollars in time warps as they'd
be gone in a month and it just seems solid, sure you don't
win out of no where, but you win and it seems more
consistent than trapping them.

I personally like MTGO, but you may not. I would suggest trying the free-trial (although its really limited in its scope and you can only interact with other people using the free-trial I think) and then if that tickles your fancy, try paying the 10 dollars (only 10 bucks) and make some casual decks with the cards you get, look around and just check it out, what it has to offer n' such.
Here are some of the downsides to MTGO in my opinion:
-You don't own physical copies of the card.
-Cards CAN be as expensive as cards in real life.
-Its not as social as playing in real life.
-Its like having a magic card shop in your home, which can hurt your wallet.
-There is a large community of players, so you can always find a casual or competitive game at all hours of the day.
- The programme forces you to play by the rules, and thus you learn them.
- You have a magic card shop in your home.
- Its an excellent tool to help you become a better player.
I think if you're a new player and you're looking to get more into the game, its a great way especially if you don't have access to a group of friends who play the game or a store near by where you can play lots.
I hope this helps a bit.

I was also looking at Otherworldly Journey as a potential replacement for Turn to Mist, as the creature comes back with a +1/+1 counter on it
Also I forgot to mention that I built the deck with playing standard in mind...but I guess that won't last very long, haha. Right now Im just playing it online but when I make a hardcopy version of it, I won't stick to standard or what have you as my friends and I don't pay attention to that stuff.
Also I feel like Clone could really fit in well somehow...

Sideboard I haven't really sorted out.
Using Puca's Mischief swap control of your permanents with opponents. Using Turn to Mist, Unsummon or the abilities of Mistmeadow Witch and Flickerwisp return your creature or permanent to your control and possibly re-triggering an "enters play" ability of Cloudgoat Ranger, Wistful Selkie, or Farhaven Elf.
Explanation of cards:
Seaside Citadel - Its a blue, white, green deck.
Rupture Spire - To play spells and abilities of captured opponent's permanents if they have or costs.
Farhaven Elf - Mana excel.
Wistful Selkie - Pickup.
Cloudgoat Ranger - Offense/Defense. Fits well into core combo.
Flickerwisp - Has an effect much like the instants but the added bonus of being a flying permanent and being able to exile any non-land permanent rather than only creatures.
Mistmeadow Witch - Built in ability identical to Turn to Mist, and does not require tapping but twice as expensive. Useful late game.
Puca's Mischief - The bread and butter.
Oblivion Ring - Early game control. Dealing with creatures with higher converted mana costs than 5. Also has the added bonus of being 'swappable'.
Turn to Mist - Returning your swapped creatures to play under your control with the bonus of re-triggering their 'comes into play' abilities. Also can be used simply on your own creatures to re-trigger these abilities. Also can be used as early game control.
unsummon - Same as above but more emphasis on early game control and in the late game returning your swapped creatures to your hand. Can also be used to force opponents to re-spend mana on permanents with casting cost 5 or greater.
Thats where this deck seems to fall short a little. Cloudgoat Ranger can become tremendously useful towards a win, producing many Kithkin Soldier Tokens and has the ability of becoming a 5/3 flying creature. The other win condition is simply taking control of the opponents permanents and using them against them.
Some Issues I've Noticed with the Deck:
- Early game control is tenuous at best.
- Combo can kick in only on turn 5 (at the earliest) with the possibility of swapping only permanents with converted mana cost 3 or less.
- Mana gradient (or whatever its called) isn't ideal. No 1 drops, which isn't such a big deal. There are 3 permanents with converted cost of 3. The only 4 converted mana cost is Puca's Mischief and you don't want to swap that unless you can somehow trigger Flickerwisp's ability.
- Deck can struggle against decks wich do not rely heavily or at all on permanents/creatures.
- Cloadgoat Ranger is a must to win it seems and obviously without Puca's Mischief out in play, the deck is uninspired.
Thats it. Its a really fun, casual deck to play with when it gets going but Im looking for some constructive criticism to make it better. I've thought of a few potential solutions but wanted to hear some outside thoughts.
