I cut Sage of Epityr for Foul Emissary and it seems better. Im also testing Traverse the Ulvenwald and its not too shabby. Here's some notes...

    - Foul Emissary

    Dies to Clamp to draw.

    Filters out some bad draws.

Getting to draw a creature for G is actually really good and earthcrafting and getting every creature when you're already going off with Earthcraft and Cloudstone Curio.

After playing with both creatures swapped respectively (Sage of Epityr and Gurmag Drowner) as suggested above its hard to lose the Exploit just to keep the Sage. Some early starts with keeping a G producing land and dropping a mana dork only to follow up with that guy have been strong. Spending a U just to cast Sage when im trying to go off has just not been as fire as Boss Hogg.

    - Traverse the Ulvenwald

I tried cutting it for a better cards IMO (Shared Discovery and Sylvan Tutor) ive found that there might be a place for this card because getting a basic land when you have Earthcraft and this in the opener has been pretty good.

A few games it was clutch to draw this late game. Other times it just tutored a basic land.

Something about it seems hard to get Delirium if youre ahead but I dont know why exactly it seemed insane late game. It just felt good to know I had another out to stick a basic land and it also felt good to just tutor a wincon uncontested when I was behind. Imperial Recruiter to had of the back of 1 G is an unforgettable experience lol

I feel like I can remove Gatecreeper Vine and play Sakura-Tribe Elder or Yavimaya Elder if I play this card to smooth it out and add some consistency when playing Traverse.

I know that I was offering a different perspective fsecco. I still win pretty consistently and even without Prime Time and Rofellos its still strong enough to kill multiple players so it should be enough to kill one when its still legal for both.

Exactly... Pope. When racing a Narset player it becomes invaluable to slow their mana down. Its a close race most of the time and it becomes relevant to at upkeep make them cast a Grim Monolith or a Talisman or Signet a second time to essentially Time Walk them. The Statue is really just a random card to enable a loop in the late game or kill a player when I can early game. Its good but I can see where the Jester guy is coming from. I run Scryb Ranger because it has protection from blue. Some of the strongest generals in my meta are Brago, King Eternal and Derevi, Empyrial Tactician this card in my opening hand has saved me games. Its actually in and Quirion Ranger is out in my list. I dont run Gush only Fathom Seer. Gush is usually countered when I get going so Id rather have the creature instead of the spell. Wirewood Symbiote is a savage I actually love the card. I think people dont read the card much. Oblivion Sower actually lets you play all lands from a players exile zone not just lands exiled by it. Ive been in situations where I needed some mana and casted him when a player was Helm of Obedience'd and I got a free 30 lands so I could continue to go off when I ran out of gas. It also doesnt hurt getting rid of win conditions that are put on top of players libraries with tutors. He's very powerful in Multiplayer. He's one of my favorites in the deck actually for the versatility. I dont like to durdle much like the deck has the tendency to do. Im usually straight for the kill and nothing else. Id rather kill all players or put players I cant kill right away in a spot where there is little chance of recovery.

Lemon I prefer to play creatures as opposed to non creature spells. In my experience (About 200 games with Animar) There would be situations where I wish I had a removal spell and then I would just feel like I am behind anyway. If I have to cast a non creature spell it better win me the game the turn I play it. I dont use the Rift to bounce creatures... most of the time its an answer to bullets people play to slow me down or when a win condition is on the board and I cannot interact with it when I am behind. Sometimes its just relevant to Overload on tapped out opponents and kill everyone. Snap cannot do that. Its just a simple less versatile spell in most cases. I see the synergy you provided but if you have to do all that youre probably already ahead anyway. Snap has been really bad in my testing. It doesnt answer things that are a problem for me where Cyclonic Rift does.

Its pretty funny how close our lists are after stumbling on this page tonight... My list is about 95% the same as a lot of the decks here. Ive been playing it for about 4 months now after lots of testing and I have a little bit of knowledge about the deck at this point. To answer you Lox. (Ive been playing under mtgcommander.net rules not the French list btw...)

1)after testing a lot i felt that we need draw engines very much. So what about Primordial Sage or_and Soul of the Harvest? it is glimpse wich very fits our plan

Draw engines are very important in fact they are the most important thing in the deck to give it teeth. When playing the cantrips and Glimpse are invaluable. As stated above Kozilek, Butcher of Truth is a savage and one of my personal finishers. I use the cantrips in early game to try to establish a board setup that usually involves drawing lots of cards with Elvish Visionary, Wall of Blossoms or Coiling Oracle so in the mid game (Which is usually turn 3 for me.) I can bounce them several times or wait until I have a win available.

very difficult and skillentesive match against Narset and other heavy blue controls. Very difficult to play around counters, pyroclasms and wrath. May be cards like city of solitude or dosan can help

You have to out race Narset honestly... I personally run a Cyclonic Rift to try to deny mana if I am behind or Daze to counter something to give you time.

    ARCANE LABOROTORY!!!!!! o__________________________O

This card is not an issue at all... most of your cards are played for their etb and it really only slows down an Earthcraft start. Other than that youll be a little slower than usual but still loads faster than a deck that plays that or Kismet.

what abput cascade friends? What role do they play? Do we obviously need them?

ABSOLUTELY!!! Ive been waiting for a Judge Foil Shardless Agent to fall in my lap so I can try him out. I actually run Maelstrom Wanderer. That card is a bonafied Win Condition for me. Free spells are the name of the game. Casting 2 spells for 2 mana seems pretty solid to me. In my case with the Wanderer casting 3 spells for 3 mana and giving every creature I control Haste is really important. Usually when I have a few counters on Animar I cast him and he just steals away unwinnable games in most cases. It also synergizes well with our creature tutors. Nothing better than hitting a Worldly Tutor then getting Oblivion Sower and then exile your opponents Libraries.

I want to mention I play my deck in Multiplayer tourneys and it does really well. Able to kill all players by turn 5 80% of games. I can kill a single player on turn 3 about 60% of the time.

Here are some cards out of the ordinary I run that havent been included in these lists.
    Glamerdye
    Cyclonic Rift
    Scryb Ranger
    Oblivion Sower
    Ancestral Statue
    Maelstrom Wanderer

Im just getting back into the game so I want to start messing around with the different formats to see which one id like to dump some money into.

Im familiar with MWS but its missing a few features that would help me and after looking at the list at the top of the page it gives you lots of choices but doesnt really do a good job at listing pros and cons especially these days.

Some features id love for the program to have would be...

Commander/EDH support. Its my best format and if I get bored id like to update some of my old decks.
A community that actively plays as well as a player/format variety.
A deck editor that will accept most formats as I used MWS in the past.

Ive been considering paying the 20$ for the subscribed MWS but I heard a long time ago you dont get you sub codes and theres no more active support and updating of the program. Any advice or ideas guys?

@3Drinks: Simple... The deck isnt a null rod deck. It has Null Rod in it as a soft lock if someone using a lot of artifacts gets out of hand. You just play Null Rod as its printed instead of trying to get super complicated. She plays it, it gets blown up then she kills a creature and gets it back. The point is just to shut off her boyfriends combos. On the subject of the lands, 40 or so mana sources is standard for an EDH deck. No need to bloat a low curve deck with dead draws. Please dont bring the I should feel awful sentiment into this. If you dont agree then fine but Ive been playing exclusively EDH as well as improving several brews and decks from those interested in the format. Its just a start and its a good one at that.

@OP: Im not familiar with that first general, but against Karona you shouldnt have any problems, Im not exactly sure what he is running but most 5 color commanders (Im using most here loosely) should be poorly built and against a focused deck you should run through it. Now the Sygg deck seems like it could be trouble. Ive seen some ugly Sygg decks on both colors and when focused and built correctly seem to fit the profile you described in the beginning.

Good luck with the infect and I hope it works out for you. Let me know if you need any additional help.

Oh and I didnt intend to infer you picked the Stone Sisters because they were female. About 90% of the females for some reason use female generals and im not sure why. Its mostly an observation. If you want to talk mean Lady generals I think almost all of them are mean... another observation lol

    Mean Girls:
    Jhoira of the Ghitu
    Oona, Queen of the Fae
Sharuum the Hegemon <- My favorite General of all time!
    Merieke Ri Berit
    Kaalia of the Vast
    Thada Adel, Acquisitor
    Azami, Lady of Scrolls
Braids, Cabal Minion When she was legal... for like a week lol
    Captain Sisay
    Derevi, Empyrial Tactician

I could keep going on but its a looonnnnggg list... Ladies in MTG are vicious I facepalm and prepare for a tough game when I see any of those cards at roll call.

What I would do if I were trying (According to the title of the post) to beat your S/O there's a few places I would start.

Assuming your BF is playing a deck that mills and uses artifacts I think its safe to say the backbone of his deck is blue. Black or Green could be in there too... Who is his General/Commander?

I would change your general to suit your play style. I think I read you wanted to try an infect deck and just from what little I read Id stick with the colors and play Infect Elves... Or you could just play plain old elves and just wreck him period lol

These are the Generals Id chose in your color:

    Glissa, the Traitor
She comes out fast, I expect because the card is female it holds a certain level of appeal to you, She can bring back answers to your BFs Deck if they are destroyed or milled, and last but not least she can get there for General Damage after everything is all said and done.

    Skullbriar, the Walking Grave
Hmm Ive never played with this card but its ability seems cool. It doesnt really have anything to do with anything but the colors but anything (Well except for one other really expensive card in the color) is probably better than your current General.

    Varolz, the Scar-Striped
Mostly because his creature type is troll and I feel like if you give it unblockable and even if your BF mills you your general keeps getting stronger.

Again going back with no synergy with what your deck wants to do id stick with...

Ill give you a basic deck list try it out and tell me if it works for you. I dont know your play style particularly (Timmy, Johnny, Spike, ect) but Ill try to make it straight forward.

This should be a good start for you and you can tweak it to have more synergy from there but its basically beat face and goodcards.dek

    Why play this Commander/General

You should play Thada Adel because...
    • you enjoy playing in a competitive environment and you want a Commander that can win consistently.
    • you want to be the major threat at the table in multiplayer games.
    • you enjoy playing control and or lock down decks.
    • you have the fortitude to either play solitaire or torture your opponent.

You should not play Thada Adel if...
    • you have a soft playgroup.
    • you don't enjoy losing multiplayer games.
    • if you'd like to play a friendly game across from someone new to the game or learning.

    Deck History
Thada Adel, Acquisitor was originally discussed with a friend of mine around the time of Worldwake's release. I recently retired from EDH and couldnt find fun in the game. My friend sent me a list in an email I left dormant until I started playing EDH again. The list (If you'd like me to post it let me know.) was basically goodbluestuffs.deck and it played a lot like a prison deck except it wasnt very focused. Claims of making 150,000 mana on turn 8 and beating his prized Reaper King deck piqued my interest. I'm a big fan of playing broken splashy game-ruining magic. Several years passed and I found a new play group so I put the deck together and it was a variation of his original list (To be found later in the primer.)

After sleeving up the deck I put her to work and realized the power of this underused general. She seemed to be everything you could ask for! She can be easily built around and for a modest amount of money you could have a very competitive general. The deck was good but she hadn't quite hit the sweet spot with me so after switching some cards here and there. I came up with this list, my first final list I'm happy to call V1.0.

    Strategy

The overall strategy of Thada Adel is simple. You play her and attack your opponent(s) and take artifacts to accelerate or assist with present board states. This is so simple yet so understated and this is what is going to make you fall in love with Thada. She can be played a variety of different ways and the way I chose to play her is in the "Toolbox" fashion. The deck is packed with my own powerful spells and in most cases the goal is to steal acceleration from your opponent(s) early to stick "late game" spells early in an effort to force your opponent to react in a panic. Alone this tactic can force a lot of losses in 1v1. Overall I like to build decks that can hang in multi or 1v1 with little or no modification which usually includes a 10 card sideboard. This deck is no different except the sideboard is a "Wishboard" for Cunning Wish. I chose to include a wishboard for unique crcumstances where I either: had to stop my opponent from doing something or create a win condition. Ill explain the strategy a bit more in depth in the card choices section but I feel like a simple explanation on how I play her was in order.

    Card Options

    Change Log: MM/DD/YYYY

    Creatures
    Arcanis the Omnipotent:
Honestly this should be a no brainer as to why. Even if we forget the fact tat he combos well with Mind Over Matter (Draw your entire deck.) he reads T. Draw 3 cards. He can get you out of pinches just by the fact if he sticks you draw 4 cards every turn.

    Copper Gnomes:
It lets you play big artifacts from your hand at instant speed for 6 mana. Getting Darksteel Colossus online in the first 5 or 6 turns is a game winner.

    Darksteel Colossus:
Speaking of "DC" some people prefer Bightsteel Colossus and while they are both good in the deck, I am personally not partial to Infest. Inkwell Leviathan is actually another good card that fits this slot if you do not have DC or BC.

    Etherium Sculptor:
Makes Sol Ring cost 0 mana. It also enables you to draw your entire deck if you have Future Sight and Sensei's Divining Top on the board. Which if done right you'll have someone's Top anyway.

    Gilded Drake:
Steals early game threats like Kaalia of the Vast, Jeleva, Nephalia's Scourge, and the dreaded mirror match of Arcum Dagsson. I think you all know what he's doing here...

    Karn, Silver Golem:
Unblocked he puts damage on the board. But mostly he's in the deck as a win con. You can either start blowing up lands when Mycosynth Lattice is on the board or animate your big artifacts for damage.

    Master Transmuter:
She puts artifacts into play at instant speed for one U mana.

    Memnarch:
Alone he is a win condition but he really shines after making infinite mana. He can steal all permanents or destroy all your opponents lands with Karn, Silver Golem

    Palinchron:
Here he is!!! He's an infinite mana enabler. If mana doubles somehow or you have Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx online with 16 mana and between your 7 lands you're going to hollywood.

    Skill Borrower:
This to me is one of the iffy cards in the deck. Sometimes I feel like I should be running Magus of the Future but when she gets online she really gets there. In this deck she has 20 targets in the deck for her ability to do something. My favorites are Mindslaver and Gilded Lotus.

    Trinket Mage:
He's a tutor for relevant targets. Sensei's Divining Top, Sol Ring and Seat of the Synod come to mind right away.

I guess I have to rebuild this deck. It sucks I can't use the Tolarian Academy engine to go infinite but I guess it's not important with the loss of Rofellos and having Crucible of Worlds and Strip Mine.
