Agreed. I am playing a R/G ramp deck, not Valakut, something of my own creation. It plays 4 Beast Within and 4 Slagstorm main. When I am matched up against Caw-Blade I bring in 3 Pyroclasm, 4 Natures Claim and 4 Combust and it is still NOT enough to beat Caw-Blade.

It is no longer enough to have the foil for the SFM, you need creature removal, artifact removal and Planeswalker removal. If you are missing any one of those, Caw-Blade just runs over you.

    T1 - Preordain
    T2 - SFM
    T3 - Batterskull
    T4 - Jace

And yes that has actually happened to me.

You probably lose because most of those cards are absolutely awful against Cawblade. You are overloading on reactive cards so they end up overrunning you because you aren't putting any pressure on them.

It's fine to hate dogs, but you carry a knife? Seriously? That's just asking for you to pull a knife on the wrong dog and get put into a hospital by that dogs owner.

I think the mother was right not to press charges. Sometimes, kids can be stupid, but America has too much "I'LL SUE YOU!" already.

Yeah, but there's a difference between "Your coffee is too hot and it burnt my crotch, i'll sue you!" and "You forcibly stripped my son and posted it on the internet, i'll sue you!".

My two year anniversary with my girlfriend happens to be today (she's in virginia which is why i'm not with her). I have a friend who owns a boat rental place who said I can use a boat for free if I want; I plan on doing that + making a picnic lunch for us. Something simple and cheesy like that works every time.

Me and my friend were talking about your point under "Endorsing Magic" a while back, last year when the Player of the Year race was ending. He said that Wizards of the Coast would love nothing more than for Paulo Vitor to do a come-from-behind victory over Brad Nelson, because Paulo is a very likable, handsome guy who also happens to be great at Magic. He also said that that is the reason that they want Kibler to be the face of Magic: he's not just great, but he's also a very attractive and sociable guy.

Your point about becoming less awkward hits home pretty hard for me which is why I read the entire article. In 8th grade my mom thought that I had Aspergers. I was fat, awkward, and weird. In tenth grade, I had to leave school for the entire year for a major surgery, and while I was out, I dieted, exercised, and lost 80 pounds. When I came back to school I was confident and able to be gregarious and lovable, like I always wanted to be but couldn't do. Now that i'm 20 it's tough to imagine being so socially inept that my mom thought that I had Aspergers.

Remember when Rancored_Elf would make a thread tracking the prices of the most expensive cards from recent sets? Where did they go? They were incredibly useful, and I'm sad to not see him doing it anymore.

I'm pretty sure Ludd_Gang is just saying that we don't have nearly enough information to make these statements about Overgrown Battlements being the "secret card". I disagree with him, but i understand his point. We're, very literally, ignorant in our statements.

However, as decent magic players (I imagine at least), we have the capacity to realize that Overgrown Battlement is not well-positioned in the current metagame. In their FFL metagame he may have been the blade, but they aren't always right (see: Valakut).

You know that at least moderate success on the Pro Tour is one of the key requirements for being hired as a Magic developer, right?

Pros "back in the day" were NOT as good as the pros of today. Because of tools like Magic Online, the average player today is much, much better than the average player of 1999. And because of that, the pros of today have to be better than ever. I can almost guarantee you that if you pitted PV, Kibler, Brad Nelson, Wafo-tapa, etc. against Mike Turian or any of the other developers, they would beat him 9 times out of 10.

Wow, Overgrown Battlement. I'm starting to wonder if the Future Future League needs some GOOD players on their team; they should try Kibler.

As an aside: Hot Soup, is your name a reference to Ender's Game?

I just decided to download MWS, and I'm having problems with the Mirrodin Besieged patch. I downloaded the .txt file to my desktop, but when I try to import it it can't be found. What am I doing wrong?!

How many packs of New Phyrexia were in your sealed pools? I'm pretty sure there's only 2 or at most 3 for prereleases. If so, then he was a cheatypants and I would have called a judge immediately.

As much as I disagree with Teia's position on pretty much everything, she is right about one thing: Banshee is a gimmick of Guyarney. Proof is here:

Where, in an attempt to prove that he's not awful at designing Magic cards, he entered a gimmick, Banshee, into the DCC.

My friend told me that Spellskite can redirect my opponent's equips onto itself. Is he correct? I'm pretty sure it can't since equips can only equip your own guys, but he is generally correct about such things and I figured it would be better to ask a rules advisor.

TL;DR: Can Spellskite steal opponent's equips?

EDIT: NVM, he just found out he's wrong. Please erase or something?

  • posted a message on UB infect- Playing counter magic correctly
As far as counters go? It's incredibly scenario-specific, but usually it goes like this:

-Counter their turn 2 Stoneforge unless you have an Inquisition in hand.
-Counter their Gideon if you can, unless you can definitely push through enough to kill it next turn and you feel that there is something more important that the 'Leak could go towards. Depends a lot on the situation, but this is a general rule.
-Counter ANY early Tumble Magnets. That card will force you to play at a pace that the deck simply isn't comfortable playing at and you can't answer them except for your own Tumble Magnets. They are dangerous cards, especially in multiples.

That's a really, really simplified outline for what to do. Like I said, it varies A LOT depending on the situation.
