Modern is only 8th edition onwards, which leaves out the first ten years of sets. Legacy is cards from every set since alpha.
I think the best start is playing at the kitchen table with friends. Then move to modern if you want to get more competitive. But really I don't think there is any good entry point for beginners anymore. Wizards really, really want it to be standard but so often those players leave shortly after as soon as their deck rotates out.
These cards leave me conflicted. I love the artwork, and the flavor of this plane seems really cool. The pirates are great and the dinosaurs are interesting too. But the power level of the cards is just too low. BB Sorcery speed removal? Come on!
True, true, I should have specified standard and modern. But either way I'd like 4 of this card. It doesn't even have the annoying "cannot reduce cost to less than one" clause
Put cards into it. I normally just put in the cards that are most useful but not currently in a deck. If you stick everything in binders you will run out of space very quickly. It depends on collection size but eventually I would like to have seven binders one for each colour, one for artifacts and one for lands.
Only three cards I want from this set. Homelands of Devastation indeed. It's sad to see a cool theme wasted on so many mediocre cards. I didn't think Amonkhet was good overall either, but this is probably a touch worse.
I would prefer your enchantment walkers to the planeswalkers we have, but maybe thats because I play mostly white and green decks. I really don't like how planeswalkers are balanced in the game. Theres not enough good ways to punish your opponent for playing them. Mostly because your opponent always gets a chance to do at least one activation. They'd seem more fair if you couldn't activate them immediately and had to wait a turn.
