I remember back like 14 years ago, WOTC published an official website dedicated to each card set and had flash vidoes featuring what was going on. Does anyone know where they are located and how could I rewatch the videos? Thannks
I've changed my mind. Commander is full of stupid spoilers that we like to play. If we ban one, another will take place and it's a vicious circle.
Jace is a great card that wins games by himself but it's not an oppressive card for the format in its globality like others are. It's just a stupid-random-goodstuff degenerated card. The best argument IMO for banning him would be to nerf W/U but I would just replace it with another little worse gamebreaker (Cataclysm in my Geist list). I don't think that it will solve anything for the metagame. Blue/white is strong because of its consistency and players will not suddenly fail to make top8 because they don't have Jace. Jace is just a bonus in this strategy.
On the other hand, I hope that some cards will really be discussed because of their unhealthy impact on the format and the lack of variety :
Zur as a general and at least vanishing as a first step/ Humility/ Oath of Druids
All these cards have a bad impact because they are particularly strong against the decks that could beat U/W. No Zur = better creature based decks (apart from Animar which has already a good match up)/ Reanimator lists (good match up vs U/W control). Humility and Oath are also too strong and not adapted to the meta : they punish agro for building his board and playing his general. They shut down too many creature-based strategies.
My reasonning is that Jace is just a culprit because of his power but banning him will change almost nothing.
Just because it is an enabler does not make non-broken. Moxs enable a person to play cards faster, Ancestral Recall allows a person to draw cards faster. While Jace may not be as broken to be p9, I believe it is sufficient to equate to banning.
While he may not single handedly win games, his color alone dictates that he can always be protected. Blue is already overpowered and adding an absurdly powerful card into that color makes the advantage much worse. With cards like abrupt decay and supreme edict easily drawn with jace or by playing blue, even having an anti-Jace card soon becomes useless, even if you have a counterspell to protect a pithing needle, detention sphere, or a board full of creatures. Even if you have creature on the board like a geist of saint triest, more than 1 creature is needed because of his -1, and being Blue he can usually draw an answer before his loyal counters are used up, (e.g. counterspell before they can replay the -1'ed creature) and even if there are two creatures on the board they have to do more than 2 damage to him every turn b/c of his +2 ability. Maybe they should add a spell that could remove PWs that cannot be countered.
The closest to the deck you want is Suicide Black, however its not competitive in Type 1.5. So, the next best option is the Gate but even that is not considered top tier but rather "okay" in legacy.
Flamebaiting? This is neither the budget section of the forum nor did the thread author specifically state he's tight on cash. Anyways, dreadnought and stifle are still very viable with the existing combo. They add more consistency as both stifle and dreadnought could be used in conjunction with hunted horrors and torpid orb.
I restarted playing MTG and wanted some opinions on this revised variant of my mono black deck. I added in Thoughtseize over Duress, Obliterators replacing Negators, and Vampire Nighthawks to replace Powder kegs. I am worried about having 4 non-swamps and playing obliterators which cost 4 black mana, but I think rituals should be sufficient?
I did not know that thirst for knowledge was restricted in vintage format, i'll probably replace them with brainstorms/impulse (which do you think is better?). Knowing that it makes a lot of sense to take out the artifact islands and swamps then. Yeah I need more reliable methods of getting combo cards, I guess I might invest into some tutors.
I personally don't think I should go megrims unless I go black, makes the deck to unfocused and I found opponents rarely discard when I play against them.
Oh oops I need to change that i forgot i put in 8 fastbonds >_< and I didn't know they were restricted. Thanks for the quick response you have any advise into what else I should put?
Btw how do i add tags? I'm new to this forum so am unfamiliar to many of its rules & info.
As you might have guessed the combo is to nuke with Pestilence and to have Gaea's Anthem and Living Plane out simultanously so I can kill their lands and in turn attack them. Any advice? Thanks.
Her lips may be red b/c they're chapped by all that fire she's playing around with
