~Obsessive Thoughts~ CMC 3, 4 or 5
Whenever a creature you control dies, draw a card.
Whenever a creature an opponent controls dies, they discard a card.
I want to give TSG the benefit of the doubt. He is an important member of the community, and given the recent "crime busts" ie Chicago, it's hard for me to figure out what line of logic it would take for such a person to decide to do this.
That said, TSG's actions are highly suspicious - he wants to sell avacyn cards but not under his original handle. Changing it to avacynseller would be suspicious as well. Rise of the Eldrazi is an old enough set that he can justify the seller history and is a set that would pop into anyone's head when thinking about sets that are similar to Avacyn Restored.
Alternatively, he could have been planning on severing ties with Channel Fireball anyways (maybe due to his marriage?), changed his handle since people associate TSG with CFB, and from there your guess is as good as mine as to why those cards sold match the inventory issue at CFB.
The sideboard will be tweaked as the season continues. Entreat is there to counteract any opposing threaten plans (over titans), which I'm not sure is right but has been playing out strong sofar. Beast Within is usually stone rain or walker killer. Cage is against zombies and decks with pod, strangleroot and Green sun zenith.
Considering how terrible traditional wolf run decks have been doing in major events these past many weeks, it's awesome to hear that you've done well with some innovation.
You say the elk is for mana smoothing, have you thought about adding more mana dorks?
Magic is not a dexterity game. People who physically manipulate the board to make their opponent more likely to make an error, thus making the play experience worse, do our community no good.
For context, I have my lands close to me, sorted neatly in order of type or in the case of INN spell-lands I might have activate mana near them. All other permanents above, closer to the opponent. Deck near dominant hand at a 45 degree angle towards me to make my draws as clear as possible.
Although terminus itself is a good card, there are two strikes against it that are currently keeping it out of my build. It costs 6. For a deck like ours it isn't really a big deal sometimes, since we'll usually have the mana, but sometimes you need to be able to pull the trigger on turn 3 with a day of judgment against aggressive draws. Against Delver, maybe they tapped out to play geist of st traft or something else such they don't have mana leak up. Some delver decks will slow-roll their geist, but if they do and make the game longer your win percentage goes up game 1 so the threat of day of judgment has value there, where terminus can't go off unless you're a lucksack.
The other issue with terminus is it happens to cost the same as Primeval Titan; which one would you rather be doing? I like that in your list you can GSZ for the titan after a Terminus, but that isn't enough to offset the downsides.
Then again maybe your metagame is right for it. I could see running it in a meta with a lot of pod, zombie and control decks. Definitely isn't where I want to be against Delver or the mirror.
Also play Slayer's Stronghold! It's so good! Gives you action against vapor snag and threatens attacking with two titans on turn 5 if you go ramp T2 ramp T3 primeval T4 land drop primeval T5
Bonfire is really good. I'm running a full set, though red isn't as big in my build as I'm sure yours are. Anyone having success with anything spicy lately? Main deck crushing vines sounds neat.
Two soul run ramp decks made top 8 of a 1k yesterday. One lost in the finals. My only losses were to the mirror (lol) and to this RWU delver that had bonfire and conscripts, but the other soul ramp beat it in the semis. He lost to delver in game 3 after mulling to 4 :/
I play 3x Thrun, the last troll. It is much better than huntmaster against delver, I'm not kidding. Huntmaster was good before restoration anglel started to see play, but now that it has, huntmaster doesn't offer as much as thrun does.
What can Delver do to your turn 3 Thrun? play image? ok, thanks for not using image on my titan, and thanks for not playing an actual threat. The longer the game goes, the better your odds.
It's interesting that you have that opinion about the deck being bad. Delver I find to be the only matchup that really gives me any trouble at all, and only because as you say about variance. We can craft our decks accordingly. For example, I don't like inferno titan; Wurmcoil fits my deck better with my lands. Make your deck have as few dead draws as possible, like how the miracles deck is designed. I've been running hot the past few months with the deck in my sig, though only able to go to two major events (scg Worcester and GP Minneapolis).
I think White is the color we should be using, splashing red for as little as possible and if you feel like being a baller you can splash a swamp and a wooded cemetery for black. It's why my list is good anyways, if you have wolf run and vault up your opponent can't block correctly ever. Don't listen to me though, I've only been playing this list for 4 months. =/
Disclaimer - I'm not saying the red core Junya worlds school of wolf run is bad, just I personally prefer 4c (really just 2c) and have had a fair amount of success with it.
Squirrel-Horde is fun. Very different feel than playing against a zombie horde. You can pick up a copy of squarrels to use as tokens, mine uses cards from that and nuts (I think it is from the same guys that made that poo-flinging game, never played it though).
Maybe it's just me, but I'd rather use Mimic Vat and both 1) choose when I want to get the creature and 2) have something to do in response to removal or with removal.
