I don't know about that but I kinda getting tired with all the +1/+1 and -1/-1 counters getting thrown around. It seems like every other set nowadays has some kinda counters theme.
Let's see from when I started with Kamigawa, Ravnica had the Simic and Gruul, Time Spiral had "time" counters, Lorwyn/Shadomoor had Wither, Alara had Devour, Zendikar I think is for the most part clean, and now Mirrodin 2.0 with Infect. Am I missing anything?
Counters allow you to have a game state that isn't strictly based on what is written on the cards. It also prevents memory issues in the game.
Isn't your life total just a fancy set of counters?
, and play where all the creatures with odd collector numbers have Shadow.
Brilliant.
Anyway, I think a set based around "high flying" (flies but can only block fliers) would work better than shadow due to the postitive interaction between this set and others.
This seems really counter intuitive, wouldn't you say? If they're casting a lot of spells with infect, why would I care about gaining life? Presumably they'd want to kill me with poison counters.
I love that. Maybe it could say 10 life. Make them commit to a win condition.
