Going to try to get one of each. Local shop told me upon my inquiry that they weren't taking any pre-orders/reserves/whatever and that they'd be charging 'whatever the market will give'. So I'll be hitting Wal-Mart, Target, etc for them, sadly.

It doesn't bother me too much unless they're just bad at shuffling or being especially rough on my property. The most irksome thing personally is when my opponents shuffle face to face so I end up with half my drawn cards upside down. Also anyone that doesn't square after shuffling.

'Human' as opposed to 'Cleric' opens it up quite a bit. I might be inclined to pick up a couple for an apostle based casual, too.

Assuming this turns out to be true, then I'm curious about what it'll do to pack and box prices. If indeed the entire reserved list is up to grabs (including the power nine) then I can see pack and box prices jumping considerably due to speculation about potential contents. Though I already have a pair of boxes locked in, so I'm not really concerned about finishing my set.

I myself am hunting around for boxes. Local stores are far above what I want to pay ($120-130), the best deal I've found online is $100 before shipping. I think I may wait until the later part of the month and see if the supposed increase in supply helps any.

It looks like she'll be monored. Which makes almost no sense to me. I don't see a reason to redo a planeswalker unless they go through major changes, which likely would include a change in color allignment. If WotC starts making new versions of them for no reason, they just lose specialness.

It seems doubly unusual because we just had Chandra reprinted in M10. If the planeswalkers are going to be core set staples from now on, it strikes me as irksome that they'd give one a potentially significant upgrade but not include it as a replacement for an comparably worse card in the core.

  • posted a message on [WWK] Worldwake confirmed as Feb 10 small set

So, if those obelisk things "wake up" in Worldwake, which role do they have in the first set? Just float around? I don't think so.

I speculated before that these Obelisks are the remnants of a lost world or civilization, and that they were designed as a storage or containment system for some aspect of that lost world/civilization.

It's been mentioned that when these obelisks crash to the ground, the local population has to adapt to them. I think what happens is they crack or break open and start to alter the surrounding area to accommodate or facilitate the return of this lost world/civilization.

If these Obelisks really are some kind of time capsule or hibernation system, it'd make sense that they'd all release their contents when the plane suddenly 'woke up'.

It'd also make for a potentially interesting design transition between the first and last sets in the block.

My guess is that the obelisks are the teeth, that Akoum is a long lost civilization that was native to, invading or somehow part of Zendikar. I also speculate that the obelisks are some kind of hibernation or storage system for the civilization. Such that when they fall to the ground they start to actively change the landscape and the inhabitants to something related to the ancient Akoum culture.

Of course, Akoum could just be an individual continent or place on Zendikar too.

Premium all foil decks don't sound like something I'd really want to buy into.
Foil has its appeal as a novelty to me, it's infrequent and it can be nice when you pull one that really works with the artwork. A whole deck of foils however just strikes me as a bit gaudy.

Also, I think that's Chandra on one of the boosters.

Agreed. It actually looks like a slightly re-angled version of the Chandra that was posted here awhile back by the artist.

Edit: My attempt at altering the original artwork to match the booster-

Am I the only one who thinks that this set will have new card frames, because if you look at the precons, the blue and white especially, you see some sort of frame that isn't like what we have today.

I think that's the window of the intro decks, it's roughly hexagonal and looks like it's an indicator of the deck's color. Black is facing forward in the image and white and blue are on the front of the intro pack box.

It kind of bothers me when people reject trades where they would be getting something of roughly equal value, or when people refuse to trade unless it's for a chase rare or something they're specifically looking for.

I can confirm first hand that this frustrates people tremendously. Whenever I've traded it's been primarily to complete sets. I have a list of what I want and make sure folks know well in advance that the list is all I'm looking for. That still doesn't stop people from getting irate when I turn down even overly beneficial trades because they don't fill in my sets.

yeah becouse "fetch" lands needed enemy duals or a reprint to get them a nick name.

I couldn't say, but given that there are a number of examples where land nicknames were not instantly chosen I don't think your example refutes the idea that it's going to take time for a community name to appear for these new lands.

I've personally been referring to them as either M10s or 'wait' lands.

I don't think a firm name will hit for them until we know whether or not Zendikar will have the enemies and whether any of them get reprinted in M11.

None of the local Wal-Marts have any in stock. They've got plenty of half empty Conflux and Alara Reborn boxes though.
