    Hello,

I'm having a really tough time finding people who do this kind of art. I am getting into streaming and would like a custom playmat/sleeve set made from Inked- the rules are playmat, http://www.inkedplaymats.com/products/custom-playmat#.U9KQuvldVKI ; sleeves http://www.inkedplaymats.com/products/custom-sleeves#.U9KRA_ldVKI . I guess I basically need some sort of mascot that represents me to use on them, like a mascot standing with my name / logo for the sleeves, and maybe the mascot at a table of magic cards with my name, logo and twitter/facebook/website details at the bottom.

Does anyone here do this, or at least know where I could find someone? I've been looking for about a month, and the people I do manage to find never write me back.

    Thank you!

Edit: Just wanted to say thanks again, but I figured it out. I ended up doing =match(D6,A6:A6) then =match(D7,A7:A7) then highlighting both and dragging them down so Excel updated the formula as it went down Smile

Hey, thank you very much for your help. I've attached what my setup looks like. I only use pivate tables because it is quick to pull the info I need from the master sheets based on how our timecard system and QBs export to excel.

I'm less concerned about the hours actually matching- I need to do that too but it is pretty easy to verify the hours manually. The thing I'm looking for is verifying that the charge codes are correct... so not sure if that is possible since the data is different. They both have the codes in them, but the QBs also have the label on them. The codes are just really long so a little concerned that eventually when I get to like 1852:238-7 my eyes might displace some numbers and I miss some if that makes sense.

    Hey guys,

I had this random assignment thrown on me at work to reconcile some accounts. I'm taking Quickbooks and creating a pivat table in excel, and then using our time card system to make another pivat table next to the QBs one and comparing them. Basically I'm comparing to make sure that the time card and QBs match. Right now, I'm just visually looking at all of the numbers with my eyes and highlighting when they don't match.

One issue is that the QBs codes are the full code (Chargecode:2050.xx-323) and the timecard one is the same thing just without the charge code portion (2050.xx-323). My question is, if I have two pivate tables side by side, can I add a function that will compare the two if they are similar and highlight if they are the same, or just some way to see if they are different?

    Thanks a ton !

  • posted a message on Concept art?
    Hello everyone,

Not sure if this is exactly the correct place, but I was looking for some info on concept artists. I am attempting to seriously develop a game, putting all of my free time into it. I have given the pitch to a few friends and they liked it a lot, and am pitching it to a few more next week- I have the idea and have all of the story written up, along with ideas for the world and how I want them to look (similar to how WotC sends artists that paragraph describing what they want the image to look like, along with mood and all of that). However, besides that, I am a terrible artist.

So my question is with the limited resources I have to start this thing up, what would be the best way to get art done? I've never done anything like this, and I would like some art to start out with to give my ideas some life to the people who are helping doing the creating of the game, so I don't necessarily want to be locked into an employment type contract with anyone yet. Is there a good way to find someone to do that, or do I have to do a contract type offer for commissions?

Anyway, just doing as much research as I can on all of the different things I would need to make this thing, as I want it to be a serious game that I could market and not just some cheap flash game, so any help or input at all is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

I found this part kind of odd- mabye they are hoping to snag a certain someone.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    • Two to three years effective team management experience delivering business initiatives or experience leading Magic R&D teams.

    Pssst... Redirect. Wink

That is true, but I meant color wise, Selensya needs this kind of an effect to counteract a bonfire blowout. I currently use Safe Passage in my green/white but this would be all kinds of better.

Even without the token part, this could be a decent way to sideboard for Bonfire of the Damned.

He only runs white main deck for the Moorland and for Restoration out of the side- if you really don't like the white that much just drop the white mana for islands and replace Angel for Dungeon Geist

As a Legacy player, this thread bugs me. Maverick isn't an aggro deck, yet you're saying Maverick is "zoo-ish?" Do you even play Legacy? Maverick is a creature-based control deck that controls the board with its creatures. It uses Swords to Plowshares to remove opposing creatures, Qasali Pridemages to get rid of problem artifacts, Scavenging Ooze to prevent the opponent from abusing their graveyard, Thalia to stop opponents from combo-ing out, Mother of Runes to protect your high-impact creatures from removal and Knights of the Reliquary to eventually lock your opponents out of the game with Wastelands or to stop your opponent's creatures via Karakas and Maze of Ith.

Also, really? You think Maverick plays Goyf? Do some research before labeling decks.

I didn't name this thread, I was just explaining where Maverick got its name. I NEVER said it was "zooish" I said it got it's name as a parallel to zoo. Zoo is named because of the variety of creatures in it- it is like a zoo... The definition of the real word maverick has to do with unbranded animals. Maverick got its name because originally it was G/W "hatebears" and survival decks, died down a little, and then evolved into current legacy Maverick with the printing of GSZ.

Maverick isn't an aggro deck (trying to kill you as fast as possible) or a midrange deck (sacrificing its early game for a stronger mid-end game). Nor is it a control deck. It is a tempo deck, which is defined as a deck that uses it's resources better than an opponent while aggressively denying that opponent their own resources.

Tempo, in magic, is defined as a few different things and Maverick takes each of them into account. The important elements of Tempo are:
    -Acceleration
    -Mana Destruction
    -Curve
    -Punishment

It uses Nobles and Knights to generate it's own mana acceleration as well as Dryad Arbor on GSZ for 0, uses Thalia and Wastelands as mana denial, and uses cards such as Ooze, Jitte, Pridemage, and Linvala to punish your opponent for using their own tempo- when they play their large artifacts or enchantments, you spend 1 mana to destroy it with Pridemage, when they drop abilities you have Linvala to stop them, and you use Ooze to stop opposing Goyfs, Snapecasters and reanimator. This is another reason it uses Dryad Arbor, because you can use Knight to sac it to stop dredge when needed.

It wins by waiting until it can gain an advantage from all of the tempo gain it creates for itself and tempo loss it creates for opponents to finish them. This is why it feels like a midrange deck.

I love Champion, his ability is just so strong and is actually really game ending sometimes, especially now that we have Ajani to pump him up further or Silverheart to end it on the spot.

I think Duels of the Planeswalkers (or Magic 2013 for iPad) is the best starting point.

It has a tutorial that is pretty decent to flush up on the basics, and the AI is actually really good so you can learn a lot. Further, you get infinte playing time so you can practice as much as you want, and the decks are preconstructed so you can dabble with every different color and see what you can expect from the color pie. I also think the unlocking of cards is really important for new players, because you can get some basic deck upgrading experience.

From there, it depends on your location. If you want to get into paper magic, just expect right now that you will lose for about the first 2 months, but start off with just the intro deck. You aren't trying to win yet, you're just trying to get into the game, and this will let you start playing with a tiny budget, and more importantly allows you to start building bonds and a network with your local player groups.

Then just kind of buy a few staples as you can. For example, now that M13 is out start buying up playsets of the lands as they will be in Standard until October 2013 at the very least. Then when you know what color you identify most with, start buying things like that. DON'T buy stuff from M12 or Mirridon besieged, as those will both be out by the time you are at the point of being able to really build a deck you want.

edit: I meant these as intro decks - http://www.wizards.com/magic/magazine/article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/arcana/902

Between MoDo beta and RL proxy of the deck, I have gotten a ton of testing with my deck posted above against a variety of people and decks. Just want to say that it is actually really amazing - it feels a lot more T1 ready than I thought it was previously. I am winning a ton with it, and you have game against every single tournament deck.

The main deck is the same except that I went to 61 by adding an Ulvenwald Tracker, but I am still debating on the sideboard. I've been changing the side around a lot and currently I am using this:

A lot of people have been trying out Thundermaw Hellkite, and Silklash Spider is really awesome against it, especially if you manage to soulbind it to Avenger.

Safe Passage seems awkward but it is a total blowout when people go last gasp Bonfire to save the game and you passage. I've never lost a game where I passaged a bonfire.

I think Ground Seal is much better than Crypt in this deck. First, it cantrips and second we have the Champions to get around Lingering Souls, so that isn't too much of a worry. Normal flashback stuff doesn't bother me, the things I need to stop are flashback Snags and removal and stuff like that.

Ray is necessary for Rancor, and is also the reason I added a maindeck Tracker to fight in response to it, so I added 2 more Trackers in the side.

Yeva is just so amazing in so many matchups that I couldn't not have 3 in the 75. I did try switching the main deck Slime for the 3rd sideboard copy but realized that was terrible as I needed a maindeck answer to enchantment/artifact removal. Further, I've actually used Garruk to search up restoration angels to blink slimes a lot and it is amazing so I didn't want to lose that interaction.

I would like to fit in Oblivion Rings because one game I got locked out by a Venser/Stonehorn combo and had no answers, but I have answers to everything else and decided not to worry about it as it isn't really played. I would like to fit a couple in tho just incase I run into some weird rogue deck, or if Walkers start being played more.

I also tried fitting Mirran Crusader in, but I just couldn't find a spot for him. If he went in he would go where Paladin is now but Paladin is much better in this deck because of it being able to soulbind with a bigger creature, and it isn't hard to reset the bonds with Angel. I just am not sure if it is better yet.
