Great stuff. I've been looking for someplace that makes better use of paper space than the proxy options I've been seeing. Printing 9 on a page will waste less paper.

    BUY BUY BUY

unless they have 50 sleeves...I hate when they do that.

I agree. I went to buy sleeves for my Planechase decks the other day (a different color for each deck) to find that they are only sold in 50s. So I would have to buy 2 packs of each which makes it way too much money spent on sleeves for 4 decks.

I bought some packs at one store yesterday for $5. Then went to another store that sells them for $3.89 and sold me a box for $105.

  • posted a message on Recent change to site to make it blocked?
I sat down at my desk at work on Monday ready to read all the updates on MTGS from the weekend only to find that the site is now blocked at my office via Websense. This happened about six months ago with an auto forum I belong to as well and suddenly it wasn't blocked one day after about 2 months.

My question is has anything changed on the site in the past week or so that would cause it to now be picked up by Websense as a "gaming" related site?

My money was refunded this afternoon after the email I sent last night. I got my boxes for ~$84. I'll visit a few LGS' on Friday to see if they have any product and just hope I can get boxes for under 100. I'll def order from T&T or an LGS next time.

This came up in the Zen booster box thread last week. Ebay sellers can take as many preorders as they want and then just refund the money for boxes they can't ship. The seller I ordered my boxes from has a similar seller ID. I'll see if I get an email as well.

I play with a few people. It's their disadvantage because I taught them how to play and I've been playing for almost 15 years. I have a huge cache of cards and around 20 decks that I use.

Swapping decks is great. I use my friend's decks which usually aren't as good as mine because they don't have as many cards to choose from but sometimes I can show them how to win using the deck in a way they didn't think of. It's a constant learning process. From the beginning I taught them that at the end of every game they lose to ask themselves why they lost, and what changes they need to make to fix that. It helps their decks to constantly change and make them better players.

This will always be a learning process. Every few months a new set comes out so no one can say they are the best because the market constantly changes. If someone beats you using aggro or control then you should be the one making adjustments so that you have a better chance of beating them the next time.

  • posted a message on best way to get started with MTGO?
I just started a few weeks ago. I read those articles as well as one on going infinite so it got me interested. However, I don't have much time to play so I don't want to dump a lot of money into it so I decided for now I'll stick with pauper games (some of the bots give out commons for free) and the occasional 8-player draft. For now I've been hitting up the free card bots and getting what I think will make up a cool cheap deck. Then I've been doing solitaries to test.

I've had some bad experiences playing players on MWS so the only real games I've played are a few against friends. Hopefully I'll get the time to play some real games in the next few weeks.

You are right though. I'm a long time paper player (started in Beta) so I have good knowledge of the game. But I am finding it hard to get into MTGO. Learning the interface and the lay of the land has taken longer than expected and I am no where near knowledgeable on the topic.

I'd like to also point out that some of these eBay boxes may never get delivered.

I ordered a box from two different sellers for 75ish. Also got a fatpack from one. But I don't plan on getting two boxes. If I do that's great. But I have the feeling at least one of them will back out cause his shipment will come up short or some other dumb excuse and I'll get a refund.

If you order directly from WOTC the price doesn't change does it? So if I ordered 200 boxes now(for delivery a day or two before release) and agreed to buy 400 more over the next 6 months I can get the same price for all 600 boxes right?

Assuming you get all the best rates from ebay, paypal, and the PO possible for a business then you could lure your buyers in by selling to them for basically cost for the first 200 boxes, but as time has proven the costs of the boxes almost always goes up in the few months after release. Then you get the other 400 boxes and can sell them for 90? 100? more? You're hoping that the same buyers as before will come back as long as you can remain competitive and show that you have prompt shipping and good customer service.

No. It doesn't. It means they're buying in bulk and have a sufficiently awesome business lisence to pay distributor prices buying from WOTC.

I know a guy who does it. He could get us boxes for like 70$ and still make a profit.

Pot shots I'm not supposed to take aside, you honestly just don't know what you're taking about. Every retailer on the bloody internet isn't selling boxes at a loss like you seem to think, just to undercut you. They're making money.

I have to agree. Nobody is selling boxes or cases or fatpacks to lose money. There is always a deal to be made and a cheaper way to get product than we think. Yes I agree buying boxes on eBay for 75 with FS will hurt my LGS, but I would still go there for FNM if they had it. Their argument is not with the online sellers over the price difference, but with WOTC over their sales methods. The market sets the price, so WOTC telling me MSRP is $4.29 isn't really realistic if I can get packs for $2.08.

In my opinion there is only so much you can sell packs of cardboard for on the primary market. Yes there will be adjustments for inflation, shipping, etc over the years (I remember when Revised was $2 a pack nomatter where you went). But the consumer will draw the line somewhere.

Bing Cash?? WoW. Why is this the first time I've heard of this. That's like $50 a case.

Yea it's quite a bit of savings on eBay. Last Thanksgiving cashback was at 25%. That would mean a box of whatever was current then would have been approximately $65!

200 boxes. Does WOTC give a discount for such volume? Maybe that's how they can afford it.

Of course, they have $83.95 to spend/invest for a month before they have to freeship the product.

If they need it a month early to give me that price then I'm fine with that. Laying out 80 bucks a month early to get packs for $2.08? Sounds like a bargain for me. And it's def better than driving around locally after release to B&Ms to find that they are either out or charging $4+ per pack.

I'm all for supporting my local B&M store. But they don't have FNM, and the last time I was in there M10 packs were selling for $5 each. The owner told me he isn't getting any FTV-E or Planechase and as things look now he doesn't know how much Zendikar he'll be getting but there is no way packs with be anything under $4.

If WOTC wants us to support these stores they are going to have to do something to regulate this. I ordered a box of Zendikar on ebay last night for 83.95 with free shipping less 6.72 for Bing cashback and 2.81 eBay bucks. That brings the total to 74.42. I don't think I'll be able to find anything better than that.
