I decided to cut some of the basics and whatnot just to add in some duals and whatnot that tap for black (thus allowing me to cast my general). This manabase change doesn't hurt me so great! I cut the two planeswalkers since they were never all too reliable at ulting and I feel like the 2 new wincons will act as good card draw for me to draw into my other threats. -

1 Grand Arbiter Augustin IVIn:
1 Oloro, Ageless Ascetic
I realized I never cast my general so I might as well use the one that has a very useful static ability! -

Decided to cut some of the random ramp spells in the deck since they didn't do as much. In its stead, I worked in another land and the solemn as well as a ton of card draw. Purphoros has proven to be a powerhouse so here we are! Just simple utility and pump value in this deck. I ended up cutting some of the cuter cards that did not get there as often. The only hard cut was Rite of Replication but I feel like the abundance of sac outlets and removal makes it hard to do it for full value. -

Out:
1 Pendrall Mists
1 Quicksilver FountainIn:
1 Evacuation
1 Blasphemous Act
I played with the deck a lot more and really wanted a couple more wrath effects so here we are. Mists never did much unless it was against a token deck and quicksilver was always a little lackluster. -

Not entirely sure why I was playing Frost Titan but it is what it is! Bane of progress looks like a HOUSE! Time to try it and see the value
Edit: Bane of Progress is the REAL DEAL! VALUE TOWN! -

DeckMagic OnlineOCTGN2ApprenticeBuy These Cards Changes 8/14/13:
Out:
1 Honden of Cleansing Fire
1 Teferi's Puzzle Box
1 Render SilentIn:
1 Darksteel Mutation
1 Act of Authority
1 Mystic Barrier
I decided to give some of the new commander precon cards a whirl. Darksteel mutation seems like a solid removal spell for right now. Considering Journey to Nowhere but not sure which one would be better. I actually REALLY like act of authority and am hoping mystic barrier works out to be a great political tool! As for the cuts, I usually felt a little too counter heavy and the other two cards have been VERY lackluster or just awkward. -

DeckMagic OnlineOCTGN2ApprenticeBuy These Cards Changes 8/14/13:
Out:
1 Land Tax
1 Ensnaring Bridge
2 Snow-Covered IslandIn:
1 Aura Thief
1 Cleansing Meditation
2 Snow-Covered Plains
The land change was something I totally messed up in the beginning. Often after a land wipe, I never could get white again which was awkward.... Land tax is being cut because my deck has literally 8 targets which is sometimes too awkward to pull off. Ensnaring bridge got the axe because well...I almost always have a full grip so my opponents can just attack... I worked in aura thief and cleansing meditation to make enchanted evening even more busted. -

Out:
1 Melek, Izzet Paragon
1 Compulsion
1 Dwarven Blastminer
1 MountainIn:
1 Nin, the Pain Artist
1 Myr Turbine
1 Rapid Hybridization
1 Springjack Pasture
I quickly realized that although I never use my general in Stax decks, atleast I may at some point cast nin rather than melek so that switch was made. I also wanted some more token makers to feed the stax and whatnot so I worked in the turbine and the pasture. Blastminer was a little too slow and compulsion I never truly liked so the cuts were made. -

The changes made were just to cut some cards that were "cute" but didn't get there and to try some new cards. I also need to work on the mana base some more to work in more fetches and finish off the cycles (filters, etc). -

Had a chance to get in a bunch more games and noticed some of the cards were just not that great. The medallions never really reduced too much (too many artifacts and whatnot). Wall of Kelp was just a bit too slow and UU for the ability was sometimes hard. Invoke Prejudice looks great on paper but UUUU for the cost and the ability was a bit much. Rhystic Study and Mystic Remora never triggered for me for some reason and so they got the axe. Overburden was one I loved looking at on paper but in practice, it usually just turned into my opponents playing a guy and then essentially getting a land drop they otherwise didnt have in hand. Expedition map never really tutored anything great and was only there so I could have another salvaging starget. I cut ruination because my meta is fairly basic heavy. Additionally, ghitu got axed because after cutting the swords this is not as good of a plan.
As for what came in, I worked in JTMS and shadows since sometimes win cons were few and far between. Also decided to toss wildfire and jokolhaups back in since both are mass land D and the deck does lack that now. Skullclamp is self explanatory and quicksilver fountain because its a house at stopping certain decks. Somehow the deck had too few lands so I worked in a few more. -

I realized soon after playing the deck more that Isperia did...well nothing. I switched it for Grand Arbiter as it would just be so much better. I then proceeded to cut all the symmetrical draw effects since they never helped me play the "hug" role and instead, just got me killed (my playgroup considers my decks a threat at all times). The rest of the cards were cut for simply being too slow or lackluster. The deck had a hard time winning sometimes so I worked in some more wincons and rattlesnakes. -

Played with the deck quite a bit today and realized some of the rocks (although man rocks) are VERY slow and sometimes too slow. Both cut creatures were somewhat lackluster and felt weak. The Aether is good in theory but never really did too much other than stall a turn on stuff. The 2 red enchantments served as win cons but I believe the walkers will do a better job. Fellwar stone just plain sucks when youve nuked the lands on board....The additions are cheaper rocks, different wincons (walkers), and some other salvaging station toolbox cards. -

Over the past few weeks, I have not been impressed with Damping Engine since one sac nulls the effect for the whole turn. Exploration was great as an opener but a TERRIBLE topdeck and Defense Grid was very lackluster in general so they both got the axe. The honden cycle looks amazing but the black and white are not as great as I had imagined and I soon found out the only reason I ran them was to make the green one better and in its stead, I worked in the queen and skeleton. Skulllclamp and Jitte were two things I was looking to make room for so here we are. Deathrite Shaman and Ooze are in there for win cons as well as their overall utility. Lands have been adjusted accordingly! More to come soon!

Haha depends on your definition of net decking I suppose... there are just so many cards that go well with new commanders that I have never heard of... for example dual nature. I am looking at quick ways to find said cards.
So is building derevi somewhat like playing Bant goodstuff then? It seems like as I peruse these, its similar to what I would do if I was doing that....
Thanks! Those are very helpful I will take a look at them!
Hmmm I like how this one looks. I have bant enchantress built but I want shy away from that just a bit if possible.
All the ones I see are somewhat cute and casual with explosive/nut draws. NO I am not net decking. I just like to have some ideas before I randomly throw 100 cards together.
Please let me know Thanks!
2 Boros Reckoner
1 Liliana of the Veil
2 Dark Confidant
1 Snapcaster Mage
1 Cryptic Command
2 Mox Opal
1 Scalding Tarn
1 Verdant Catacombs
1 Arid Mesa
3 Windswept Heath
1 Horizon Canopy
1 Karakas
1 Scrubland SP
All for 475$. Again, great buy, but wondering when to cash out of them.
I agree with this post. I will likely be doing the same (selling all my extras around May-ish when people are prepping for modern PTQ season).
Wait what? You realize courser is a 4-of in standard RG monsters and various standard BG/Jund/BUG brews right? This cards is a house in standard.
I was saying more in regards to prophet (it being a rare). Mimic (being a mythic) is another story entirely. Not to mention that dragon's maze was a TERRIBLE set to be opening so likely less are in circulation.
How does this help people NOT attack you? It just makes them not want to remove your noncreature permanents.....
As for the OP, I run a UW pillowfort deck:
http://old-forums.mtgsalvation.com/blog.php?b=8950
Have you played with the card? It is ABSURD in creature based strategies and what UG deck isnt somewhat creature based?
Will they go to 50$? No. But I could see them climbing from 7-9$ up to 20 or so.
My only concern is to how viable a wydwen tempo deck is at playing a multiplayer game. Seems like it would be much harder to pull off.
If you're ever playing a deck and don't use a color at all...its prolly time to just cut the color in my opinion.
Love doing this too! Blinking evoke creatures. Essentially with DEN in play, mulldrifter reads, 3UU, draw 4 cards and get a 2/2 flyer!
As for targets to bounce for the OP, things like Grave Titan and Frost Titan are good offendors as well.
I've totally been snap trading for certain foils from the past few sets aka prophet of kruphix, progenitor mimic, etc. Definitely worthwhile at such low prices!
Yea I think BB will do just fine. With things like tron, mistbind clique and vendilion clique do WORK. Turn 2 BB with Turn 3 countermagic into turn 4 clique locks will win games against tron.
But in the end, it'll still take time to prove but I think it can be done!
Modern speculators and buy outs are a little more volatile than legacy. Also, people kinda prepped for bitterblossom jumping and TCG already had a semi buy out. Then when it got unbanned it had a total buy out and BOOM goes the price. With the cards you mentioned, people didn't truly see it coming so they only had the one jump.
