I watched this jump a price when the first game started last night for the pre-release, unfortuantely, the guy who did pull him had very little luck with his + ability and often used his - ability to kill off unblockables.
People aren't stupid, they'll probably try to end you before your planeswalkers. So I am curious about Stranglehold.
Collective Restraint - You don't have a lot of basic lands...
Mana Vault sounds real iffy to me.
Tooth and Nail as well.
Maelstrom Pulse - This is EDH, how often will there ever be permanents with the same name?
You can cut your single target removals for board wipes. Hexproof and Shrouds would make those cards dead.
Eternal Witness or Creeping Renaissance. Creep "planeswalkers" to get any that you lost back or anything else you need like enchantments.
I am curious what you use Seedborn Muse for. And Elspeth Tirel... rather not lose my planeswalkers. But if you decide to; you can run armageddon to destory all the lands to allow your planeswalker to be free for a few turns after a board wipe.
This is what I am currently running. Granted, I do not have as much access to cards that your list appears to have (since I started at the butt end of Alara), this is all I really got.
You'll notice there are a lot of board wipes, but I strayed from Armageddon and other strong land wipes. I play with a lot of casual people and my deck is... difficult as is if it isn't ganged on. Even that, I have managed wins with single-digits. I also run a lot of deck-thinning cards such as farseek, cultivate, kodama's reach, and fetches. The
deck combos well, IF doubling season is present. Without it, the combos take a bit longer to pull off.
Omniscience into Tamiyo's Emblem for Praetor's Counsel. Have fun with the graveyard and looping: Life's Finale, Jace AoT, Demonic Tutor, killing/playing other PWs.
I am running something quite similar, but with more... wipes. Anyway, I was wondering why you weren't running the bounce lands from the original ravnica block. Then again... I did take those and the alara lands out. I was also contemplating using the shock lands.
Vraska has quite a nice flavor, but she will die regardless. She screams aggro, so her name seems like a misnomer. Either she will be killed right off via attacks or spell, or your opponent ultimately ignores her and lets you build her as they smash your face before finishing her off with a spell prior to you being able to ultimate her. I like the idea that she tries to be untouchable, but she is, I will gladly send some spirits at her face. Her kill target permanent reminds me of Liliana Vess whom I tend to use just to solely tutor....
I think what makes them rare is that the offer two colors and the ability to not come into play tapped. If you look at a lot of the otherr "rare" dual lands, many of them come into play tapped.
I am a bit annoyed with people and how they price Planeswalkers. I purely collect planeswalkers and play with my planeswalker EDH deck. So missing Dark Realms Lil and Caller of the Pride Ajani is bugging me but I do not value any card over $20.
I am currently holding onto a spare Tamiyo, Cavern of Souls, and Geist of Saint Traft to trade :1 ... just cant find anyone interested.
I am making a planeswalker deck, based off of the one that was posted a while ago by the DailyMTG.
I was curious about a few things regarding planeswalkers:
1. Can they be targeted if I use Leyline of Sanctity/Witchbane Orb, since I cannot be targeted. I suppose if the cards specifically says "target player or planeswalker" then they become legal targets as oppose to Lightning Bolt that says "target creature or player".
2. Can a Planeswalker still use its ability if it has no "legal target"?
ex.
- Elspeth Tirel's +2, but you control no creatures.
- Garruk Wildspeaker's +1 but all your lands are untapped.
- Karn Liberated's +4 but target player has no hand.
3. With Doubling Season, all loyalty counters would double upon use (Karn goes up 8 instead of 4), and tokens would also double (elspeth tirel would drop 6 soldiers instead of 3), could a player prevent this from happening if they were to destroy the enchantment upon declaring the action of the tokens/counters being placed?
Watched Gideon drop two dollars last night.
Kinda hoping Domri to fall in price.

4. With Doubling Season in play as well as Rings of Brighthearth, would activating Ajani Goldmane's ultimate produce 4 Avatar Tokens?
5. What is your best recommendation for keeping Doubling Season safe? I am currently using Praetor's Council to get it back...
Time shifted included?
