    Oh nevermind
    Winter break is boring.
I played Paper Mario 2 for a few hours.
I just won't be online AS MUCH.

Hehe My request is something I have always wanted at news actually.
I wanted an avatar to go with my name.
The specific image, I don't have, but a google image search of 'pill bottle' seems to come up with the kind of thing I want...a tipped over pill bottle with pills coming out, etc
And if it said Urza's Sedatives on it, that would be 1337.

No rush at all, I won't be back for a week.

  • posted a message on Taking a break...
I am on my winter break from college.
I have had too much internets so far.
I am taking a little break from teh internets this week.
It should help me sort out some problems I have been having, as well as make me a little less confrontational on the 'news main page, etc.
I'll try my best to keep my AIM up, and if anything important happens...I'll get the message.

Cya in a week (or so)

    Quote from Slighbrarian »
Ben Bleiweiss' recent article on Starcitygames.com had this little tidbit amongst it "Not only do the trends point towards this, but Wizards has already announced that Birds of Paradise will be a rare in the first set of the Ravnica block." I do not know if this has already been stated and if it has I'm truly sorry for taking up space in the forums...but I had to report it when I seen it.

I think this was old news, we had it before we knew the name of the block. Thats all.

I have issues with the warning system that we used on News...and I didn't like the things we considered moddable.
So many things could just be deleted, no harm no foul.

Regardless, I don't think its necessary to have flaming, even if it 'is just kidding'.

I post on a message board that allows a great deal of flaming (luelinks) and it doesn't really make it any better.

Initially I was really pissed at Cyan, but I can understand his side I guess.
    Kinda.

I am not pissed at Gato either.

Scott's situation is evident in what he did with DPC....the mod that HE DEMODDED is now an admin.

    Anyways, I'm here I guess.
    I still hate phpbb

Oh...this is the card that was changed to a sorcery that you talked about a week or so ago.

    I like it.

    ...Then we make new accounts.
    Whats the big deal.
    It doesn't matter.

I am excited with this change, of course.

Hey seds. I beg of you, stay here at least until Stu55 gets his forums up and running, which are supposed to be far better.

As for that comversation between R_E and Scott, I tried to imagine who said what, and that was quite a weird argument. R_E definitely won, with a 10-hit combo.

    Oh yah...forgot about those boards...lol

People are being aholes already, what with putting the card R_E said NOT TO POST ON MTGNEWS on mtgnews.

  • posted a message on Yep, I got banned twice on 'news.
    This is all i got
All posts made by R_E about the situation have been removed.
As far as I know, all of the mods and admins that left have been modbanned (banned except the tag doesn't say so), so they are unable to tell their story.

That Includes R_E, Urzassedatives, and no doubt the rest of the exiled staff.

Rumors are no longer welcome here.
I now reside on the WoTC boards, and maybe I'll think about Numen's boards.
Regardless, there is a fine line between making lemonade out of lemons, and making a bad situation worse.

What is happening here is only making things worse, pissing people off more.
People are sucking up to the staff that remains, hoping for a position on the staff, to win this....'contest'. Hop aboard ye olde sinking ship!

I do not wholly bash the mods that stayed. Some are dedicated to keeping the community alive. I couldn't stay here because I was so disgusted at what happened, and rumors are why I am here.
But by staying, they are agreeing with the things Scott says about the former admins, that they lied, stole, and slandered.

There are no grey areas. There is what actually is, and what is being told.
If the admins were as bad as S_S says they were, they would have been KICKED OUT, they wouldn't have QUIT.
If the admins were as bad as S_S says they were, a good portion of the moderating staff would not have followed them out.

The moderators knew as much of the story as the admins did.

Here are the final two posts on the admin bunker...all I have for now.

You guys want to talk about failed? I'll tell you who has failed:

Daron - You failed by not focusing nearly enough on trying to fix things working within the current system and seem to think that griping is a more imporant task that site content.

A bad manager is one who fails and them blames those under him. You lied to us, to Greg, and to everyone who uses this site, and now you're blaming everyone except yourself.

    Quote from Subterranean Spirit »

You guys want to know the problem from my end? I'll tell you the problem straight up. I'm a busy guy, more so now than I was 4 months ago.

Being busy is no excuse. We worked our asses off for four months, and got nothing in return. I have a newborn, a two year old, a wife, sick and dying family members, I'm scrounging a living out of eBay and a few shifts at my job here and there, and I'm trying to justify working 2-5 hours a day 29 days a month on a website that has paid me nothing. You were busy, and got nothing accomplished here other than putting up roadblocks so that we couldn't meet our goals.

    Quote from Subterranean Spirit »

Amount I get paid to do my job: $0.

Amount you're worth: $0. You were paid exactly as much as you were worth. You did no work, and you made no money.

    Quote from Subterranean Spirit »

I posted all the information about staff compensation. I e-mailed the entire staff on November 3rd and told them how to redeem credit. I can not help it if people do not check e-mails.

Nobody got your email. I looked into it.

    Quote from Subterranean Spirit »

I'll take care of the T-shirt thing, but I'm not going to be told times. I know it's overdue, but ultamatums will get you absolutely nowhere with me.

"The t-shirt thing" didn't happen. Just because you're making it seem like you're making an effort at this point, now that you're threatened to do so, doesn't mean it's all better now. You screwed up.

    Quote from Subterranean Spirit »

    - I can get people who can post to the front page.
    - I can get people within the forums who want to work in an administrative capacity. I could have a dozen applicants within 12 hours.

In other words, you can justify losing us because we're replaceable. This is the kind of manager you are. Despite being wrong, this attitude has shown through in how you treated us all along. There wasn't a time when I felt like you cared about anything except yourself and your business. Greg and you make a fine pair.

    Quote from Subterranean Spirit »

The information will still come in. Basically, for the last few sets, the information has been coming in from the rumor mill. We didn't even HAVE an Unhinged spoiler complete until days AFTER the release.

We had the Unhinged spoiler long before the release. You just didn't pass on our requests for help with the spoiler to Greg until it was too late. If you hadn't put into place your "don't talk to Greg or you'll be fired" rule, we could have just gone around you and had Greg fix the problems with the spoiler, and updated it on time. But in your infinite wisdom, you put up a roadblock and then failed to pass on messages to the person who could actually get something done. And once again you're blaming us for that. Idiot.

    Quote from Subterranean Spirit »

I'm sure finding a source that wants to be compensated for information can be found.

So if you lose your legitimate ways of getting information (networking with other Magic players who use the site, developing relationships with people who have advance information, and just plain hard work) then you'll buy a spoiler? That's not only stupid and very lame (ie: typical of you), but illegal. Websites have tried this in the past, and were shut down in a real hurry by Wizards' lawyers. I hope you attempt this.

    Quote from Subterranean Spirit »

Even if all that fails, scrap the spoiler. You realize the spoiler is the ONLY thing keeping MTGNews from making a nice chunk of change in ad revenue from Wizards of the Coast, right? You realize it's actually a BAD business decision to keep it, but we do because we know the public likes it. The site could actually be more profitable without it.

You could reinvent this place. Call it "MTGnothing". Without news, that's what it is. This site could be profitable without news and spoilers? Give your thick head a shake.

    Quote from Subterranean Spirit »

Daron - your request was approved.

But you never shipped the cards. I fully know that I'll never get a crap common out of you and that you never intended to pay any one of us a single cent in compensation. Liar, through and through.

    Quote from Subterranean Spirit »

Besides, how much can you really threaten a guy who isn't being paid to do something?

    Bingo! See ya, loser.

    Quote from Jeff V »

I refused to do front page content because it was never in my job description. It was something I volunteered to assist with from my primary role as FORUMS admin. Had you wanted me to work on the front page when I was "hired" in September, you guys should have made that a lot clearer. When Greg bought the site, I figured I was doing the same thing I'd always done, which was running the forums. When I was re-hired in September, I figured I was doing the same thing I'd always done, which was running the forums. I was never told to do anything else until you came to me out of the blue in that AIM conversation telling me that I had been hired to be a "site admin" (a term and job description which I firmly believe you came up with on the spot because you didn't like the way I was doing my job at the time) and told me that my comp was going to be reduced because of it.

If you can hire more people to replace us, more power to you. Personally I will be astonished if you manage to hire even ONE person who isn't within the dark circle of FMC site ownership that Greg can con into coming in, taking on a job description, and then doing absolutely nothing with it. Doing that in and of itself will be more action than the two of you put together have done in the past 10+ months.

If you can get WotC to sponsor you because you're dropping the spoiler, good luck in getting a userbase. The only thing keeping MTGnews going is the spoiler, and you'll be amazed how fast the bottom drops out of your page hits when MTGnews doesn't even come close to getting a spoiler for Betrayers. You keep the spoiler because the public likes it, yes, but you don't take it nearly far enough. You keep the spoiler because it's the only thing keeping the people coming to the site. Good luck getting WotC to buy ads for a site with no hits.

As you've probably guessed, by the time you read this we will have resigned. The admins, along with a good chunk of the rest of the forums staff, will be gone. Not only are many of us resigning, a good portion of us are leaving the site completely. I hope you realize how much of an impact you've had on us to force us to this point. I personally have been a member of this site for over three years, a staff member for nearly three years, and an admin for nearly two years. I have poured my life into this site for over 10% of my life. It takes a hell of a lot of effort to get me to the point where I really don't care what happens to the site anymore. I hope you're proud of yourselves. Goodbye. Happy smurfing new year.

The forums have gone to hell.

Abandon hope all ye who enter here.
Good luck guys. I will be banned after this thread. Hope you all see it!

I then spammed a well written goodbye thread including two posts from the admin bunker with my alt.
    Banned.

I figured being here was alirght.
