I've been thinking about a deck like this too. GW aggressive using landfall beaters for explosive power, but I've been trying to keep a reasonable curve because I don't want to over commit early and then get DoJ'd. Here's a c/p of the rough list I have

    4 Steppe Lynx
    4 Scute Mob

    Heart Expedition/Green Landfall +2/+2 guy?

    4 Knight of the Relinquary
    Dauntless Escort?

    3 Garruk

    4 Rampaging Baloth

    4 Vines of Vastwood
    4 Harrow

    12 Fetch lands
    6 Forest
    6 Plains

Rampaging Baloth provides a good top of the curve that gets out of hand quickly if not dealt with, especially with onboard tricks like KotR and the Heart expedition just waiting to pump out 4/4s in response to removal.

Scute Mob is just an idea right now, I'm not sure how well he's going to work out and I may want the slots for something more direct.

If the green part of the +2/+2 landfall cycle is any good he will have a place here for sure, I'm hoping for 2 cmc.

Garruk is around to help ramp to early Baloth, or pump out more beasts, or provide an overrun for the win. The usual stuff.

That's a good starting point. I think if we both put our heads together, we can come up with something that will rock the new Standard. Looking at it at first, I think it's obvious we could run this like all-in-green, but I've firmly decided that I [personally] want White in here, if for the very least, Knight of the Reliquary to help insure a landfall every turn. Though I also think Knight of the White Orchid can do a lot of good here as well.

    As we're running WG we need to run Dauntless Escort, to protect ourselves. I don't think this is an optional include...it's mandatory. Vines of Vastwood and Harrow I think are also auto-includes here. Then we've got Steppe Lynx as the early beater, Rampaging Baloths as our finisher. Personally, I also like the Baloth Woodcrasher, he gets beefy, and a single harrow mid-combat turns him into a nasty 12/12 trample. Though maybe that's just my play-style. Hmm, how about this as our "official" first rough draft;

    What do you think, TPC?

Wow, that's awesome. I just wanted a R/W banner(that's my fav colour combination) so I originally copied someone elses and uploaded to my photobucket. Then I found this quiz, took the test...and scored R/W. And...everything seems just SPOT ON with my real personality.

Any other opinions on this? I know it's still a week or so early, but I'm just eager to get a head start on this build. I really think it an do some good stuff.

    Okay, so I've decided that I'm gonna be running two decks post-ZEN, one being BR Vampires, and the other being GW Landfall. I already am pretty set on what I'll do for my Vampires, so I'd like to discuss what to do for the Landfall.dek. Here's a rough list I've thought up so far;

    Knight of the White Orchid
    Knight of the Reliquary
    Terramorphic Expanse
    Sunpetal Grove
    Noble Hierarch
    Dauntless Escort
Path to Exile(I'm not sure about this in a "land matters" theme like ZEN is...)
    Overrun or Sigil Blessing
    Behemoth Sledge
    Thornling
    Great Sable Stag(SB obv)
Ajani Goldmane (He's in my colours, the vigilance I think seals the deal, so why not?)

    ^There's the base from cards we do know. Now, for what ZEN offers;

Steppe Lynx(this guy is really good)
    Rampaging Baloths
    Harrow
    Baloth Woodcrasher
River Boa(not on-theme, but terribly efficient)
    Scute Mob
    Khalni Heart Expedition
    Vines of Vastwood
    Terra Stomper
Maybe some of the fetchlands? Although I have Terramorphic for that purpose? It doesn't matter if they CIPT, I'll have enough mana where it doesn't matter IMHO.
    World Queller(sideboard tech)
    Pitfall Trap(sideboard tech)
Journey to Nowhere(sideboard tech? maybe coming in to side out PtE versus other landfall decks?)
    Qasali Pridemage(sideboard tech)
    Day of Judgment?

I know we still have more of the set to go, but how is this for a list?

EDIT: What about adding Mycoid Shepherd? Even Kalonian Behemoth? If I'm not going to use Ajani Goldmane, what about that Eldrazi Monument? Maybe even Spearbreaker Behemoth in a ramp deck like this?

Now all they need to do is reprint bad moon and everything will be fun.

I like stillmoon in this deck as it gives an answer to white and it can be pumped and can first strike if need be just a great utility card.

as for removal. i think splashing green or red for pulse and or some other direct damage is almost a must.

with red we get terminate for getting rid of big creatures plus the mass removal.

i probably wouldn't go with 3 colors but 2 at the most is almost a must.

I see nothing wrong with going three colours like BRG, but...they all have to have B in their cost. You can't afford to have non-B stuff to trip up Nocturnus. Like try BR and you can get Terminate, Blightning(if you want it...), Bituminous Blast, and the ultimate in SB cards, Thought Hemorrhage. Maybe add Lightning Bolt because it's just pure win(one of the few exceptions to the "make sure everything has black in it" rule). You could expand on this(you have M10 duals, and Borderposts, then the Fetch lands in ZEN too) and lead off with something like Maelstrom Pulse, which allows us to hit enchantments/planeswalkers and the like. It cold even open the path to a beefy Lord of Extinction for end game, with all the cards you'll be killing, but he's probably a bit sub-par, and doesn't have any other synergy with the deck.

Meh, sounds like I'm doing too much with this again(Sigh...I always do that). Personally, I just think that BR really is the best option for it. Seems to mesh together the best IMHO.

That thing is gonna rock some ****...and probably be the newest member of the "Hi, I'm a mythic rare, and I cost over $30" club.

And the Red Ascension is pretty bonkers. Remember Chandra Ablaze? Yeah...oh yeah...<_<

    No prob.. just wonder..
22 lands in MD not 23....

Oh snap, my bad. I just mis-represented it on here. I have 3 Savage Lands, not 2. It's in the deck and all, just must have slipped by when I was typing this up. Sorry. Hopefully I'll have those replaced when I can get two more Dragonskull Summits.

Also, thanks for the support NotStiffler.

except when they're called armadillo cloak/rancor, auras are all bad.

yes, shield of the oversoul and runes of the deus are bad.

While I agree auras are bad as they get you 2-for-one'd...they don't/can't 2-for-1 Uril. Only way to get rid of them once they hit on him, is to sweep.

    Hi guys,

I've actually been contemplating a build similar to this. A friend of mine made a deck he calls "Protect the Angel"(i.e. Baneslayer Control) so as I like Naya so much, I've thought about my own twist on his deck that I want to title "Protect the Miststalker".

I have a small base to start with, the standard FoDs, Wild Nacatls, Ranger of Eos, Woolly Thoctar, Bloodbraid Elf...then using Spellbreaker Behemoth(tho proly a SB card) and Enlisted Wurm with Vexing Shusher(tho proly also SB) and then dropping a fat 5/5 troll shrouded body in Uril, the Miststalker. Maybe keeping up with Angel with a Uril + Behemoth Sledge/Shield of the Oversoul/even Indestructibility? That new 3WWW aura in ZEN screams BOMB-TASTIC with a solid hard to kill body like Uril wearing it. Hell, you could even run a singleton of something crap like Asha's Favor to make Uril swing for the fences, then he also has vigilance to defend too...

    Thoughts?

    Sorry for double posts.

In my R/B vamp deck I run Bituminous Blast. The cascade is nice for getting Black on top as well

Yeah, I agree. The Bit Blast is awesome for that. I actually beat my bro(he was using my Jund Dragons) because I had a Child and Nocturnus on the field, with a Nocturnus on top. He attacked with his six saprolings, and I Bit Blasted one and cascaded into that Nocturnus--flipping over another Child. Turned the combat into a blowout for me, and I got to recover from near-death with a six point life gain from Child plus double Nocturnus. Needless to say, I won on the next turn.
