I don't know about you guys, but I'm grabbing these up at the prerelease. The way M15 is foreshadowing with artifacts... an "artifact matters" Sub theme could be coming.
I think Wizards is really starting to grasp planeswalker creation. Not standard playable in most shells, but still a great card. Also insane in limited, obviously.
I think that shrapnel blast is not good in this deck. You have much better 2 mana cards like Ravager, Overseer or the best - plating. You play "burn" spells to remove enemy creatures not to kill your enemy with it. Four dmg is enough in most cases. Also you need to sacrifice something to cast it. When i was playing shrapnel i realized that it's better only when your opponent have 5, not 4 life. Another thing you need to consider is "color" When you are playing fast deck like affinity you need something that will fill your hand. Thoughtcast is must have in affinity. If you have Thoughtcast, Galvanic blast, Shrapnel blast, Master of Ethernium you can have hands with too many colored spells. That can ruin your fast start and you will not be able to win.
While I agree on the color issue (which is why I asked) thoughtcast is a chance card, when shrapnel blast is a definite. Sure you can draw into bomb - bomb, but you can also get land - drum. Affinity is a deck that demands consistency and speed. 5 damage is 1/4 of your opponents life. that is nothing to shake a stick at.
I really like this list. Its consistent and quick. Instead of drawing a thoughtcast where you MIGHT draw into something, you instead have 5 damage to their skull. SB looks tight as well. What was your MVP SB? Least helpful?
Also did you always have your color online? With 3 Glimmer and 3 Springleaf, its slightly less than average.
Could someone explain who Gerry T is and why he's a notable person in the world of mtg?
During the "caw-blade era" when SCG gave out byes like candy, Gerry and a few others got up there and were found to be "revolutionary" when they just geared their maindecks for caw blade mirrors since they didn't play the first three rounds. At that time, that's all you had to worry about (for the most part). He is a skilled player, don't get me wrong. It was just an easy time to get up there in the scene. He moved on quick and got the internship and just kind of fell off the map.
White was no doubt the better color. Strong support in the block and a cheap mana promo. I went white twice and only lost 1 game in two flights. Literally insane.
The green one was great, but unless you gave it trample people chumped it all day. I watched it happen, and also did it myself.
The black one was also great but you had to feed it enchantments for it to trigger. Nothing more awkward then your opponents drawing none of them and having a useless promo on the table.
The red and blue ones were just not good. That dragon was absolute trash. If the game went on that long against red, you should have already won. Also, fueling only on mountains? hope you went one or two colors to at least get value.
Grim guardian - the 1/4 body with a slow drain. In my black / white deck. It was insane. didn't expect it to do what it did.
What I saw from other tables: Underworld Coinsmith: that card was preeetty good. riddle of Lightning: Scry 3 and with red having a lot of high costs, I saw this card do silly work.
Aegis of the gods is definitely an anti thoughtseize card for standard. Its awkward that its a two drop though. Probably would be OP at a one drop anyway. If 8-rack ever becomes super strong in Modern, you may see it there too. Not entirely sure.
What do you think about Athreos, God of Passage in affinity?
It is really good with ravager+ornithopter/memnite.
And with Atheros in play our opponent won't clean the board with wrath so easily.
Unfortunately the casting cost might be hard to pay.
You'd definitely need more color producers. Max glimmervoids and drums would be a must. And maybe only 2 max in the deck? Would absolutely need testing.

Unexpected champs for me:
Eagle of the watch - Thought this guy would get eaten up, he stuck a lot.
Akroan Mastiff - thought he would be slow. Did work.
Grim guardian - the 1/4 body with a slow drain. In my black / white deck. It was insane. didn't expect it to do what it did.
