    Primordial Soldier white mana
    Enchantment
Whenever you play a creature spell, Primordial Soldier becomes a 2/2 Elemental Soldier creature until end of turn.
Sometimes, an idea is just as powerful as an action.

I'm not entirely certain Shapeshifter's Guile even works.

    1) Start with Creature A enchanted by SG.
    2) Creature A dies.
    3) SG triggers.
    4) State based effects are checked and SG is put into the graveyard.
    5) Trigger resolves (does game recognize SG in graveyard as the one that triggered it?)
    6) Assuming SG returns, it goes attached to a creature.
    7) Creature A was removed by the original SG that was in play. The one is definitely not the same object by this point.
    8) No creatures have been removed by the current SG, so it doesn't do much.

    Unless I'm missing something.

Is it really that big an issue? If it is... well.... I could be in some serious trouble with my project.

(It's being written in Visual Basic 2008 - I'm way too lazy to learn a language and just want to put something awesome together)

Yes, it's true. People not using Windows will need to download a .NET emulation of some sort, such as Mono. As that only goes up to 2.0 at the moment for features it can emulate, it is entirely possible you're designing your application to target a release that can only physically work on Windows systems at this point.

On the other hand, does VBasic 2008 even support LINQ and the small number of other changes made in 3.0? Man, that's a gimpy language to be using. =/

Something just doesn't sound right about that. I mean the text of changeling does state that (This card is every creature type at all times.) So wouldn't that mean that at all times and in all zones this card is all creature types at once. So when the blackguard checks the creature type of a card coming into play then would it not find that the card is a rogue.

Sorry if I am completely wrong here but I am just explaining my logic.

Except the rule actually explicitly states: "Continuous effects that affected its characteristics in its previous zone or that will affect its characteristics once it’s in play are not taken into account."

.NET should be your first hint, it's windoze-only through and through. (IE unportable)

Or you could be halfway intelligent and try out something like Mono.

The biggest issue with using Mono is that it's still tied to .NET 2.0, so depending on how this was coded it likely won't work at all (it's a .NET 3.5 application, which could cause issues if they're trying to do something like use LINQ).

NINJA EDIT: These people are aware that they haven't done the slightest thing to prevent .NET Reflection, right? I can sit here and stare at their encrypt/decrypt and randomization methods without any effort at all.

    Quote from TheSIN
I had the extreme pleasure Rolleyes of playing against a pickles deck for the first time yesterday, and I was wondering how to combat it.

I play with mono Blue Fairies mostly, and I was wondering about Unsummon. Can I Unsummon the Brine Elemental after the opponent unmorphs the Vesuvan Shapeshifter and before he targets the Brine Elemental, so that he must target something else? Or, can I Unsummon the Brine Elemental in response to him picking Brine Elemental as a target to make the ability fizzle, thus killing the Vesuvan Shapeshifter? Thanks.

No. The ability does not trigger (there is no "when" or "whenever" there), but happens as the Shapeshifter is turned face up. You can not respond to an "As" ability, and you cannot respond to a creature being turned face up. There is no window of opportunity there to use the Unsummon. Also, the Vesuvan Shapeshifter doesn't target to begin with, making references to "targetting" a bit nonsensical.

This is not to say that you cannot Unsummon the Vesuvan Shapeshifter or Brine Elemental at any other time, which would prevent the lock for one turn, but you cannot do it at the times you are asking about.

Okay so I saw the movie on friday can someone explain this to me though
Why did they name it Cloverfield?

Not even a spoiler, rightly. In the movie, it's just a codename. In the general "how did they come up with this" sense:

It was, in fact, one of Abrams’ and Burk’s agents, John Fogelman, who, having seen the word “monster” one too many times in private e-mail correspondence, suggested calling the project “Cloverfield,” after a main street near Abrams’ office in West Los Angeles.

“We started working on the movie, and it became like a nickname. But we thought, ‘There’s no way that’s going to be the title of the movie,’” Abrams recalls. “We even had another title, ‘Greyshot,’ the name of the bridge that Rob and Beth are hiding under in Central Park at the end of the film, which we were all set to announce at Comic-Con. But, by that time, the name ‘Cloverfield’ had already leaked out, and the fans already knew it by that name, so we just decided to stick with that.”

Yes kids... the Clover Monster is named after the street JJ Abrams Office is on.

Uh, we have those classes in school... It's called, "Mythology"

So Islam, Wicca, Judaism, Hinduism, and Buddhism are mythologies now?

Also, what if someone actually believes in the Norse Gods of old? They could reasonably claim that if you say it's just mythology and don't give it equal due, you're biased against them.

A solution for this dilemma is that schools can make special "Christian" classes for elementary school kids so as to avoid teaching topics deemed offensive to their religion. This is especially critical at an early stage when kids are just finding their way in life. If Christianity is bashed at this stage, they may turn from the religion for the rest of their lives. The influence is probably much less later in the high school years in Biology class but children should definitely be shielded.

Do you also intend for Elementary schools to run special "Muslim" classes, special "Hindu" classes, special "Wicca" classes, special "Norse Gods" classes, special "Greek Gods" classes, special "Aboroginal Faith" classes, special "Native American Faith" classes, special "Mayan" classes, special "Aztec" classes, special...?

The list goes on. If you run an officially sanctioned class for any religion that's being paid for with tax dollars, you'd have to officially sanction a class for every other religion in existence; otherwise, you're favoring Christianity in all public education.

Once you've gone through the entire opponent's deck, showing they can no longer win, I would think would be covered under 421.2:

421.2. If the loop contains one or more optional actions and one player controls them all, that player chooses a number. The loop is treated as repeating that many times or until another player intervenes, whichever comes first.

You have an infinite loop that will continue indefinitely so long as Player A continues to take the same optional action. As such, I would think this would apply. Then, as soon as they flip over the next card on a clash, you would cycle through Player B's deck again and either lose at some point or reach the same point again.

The reason why I use the "one player controls them all" portion is because once you've revealed your opponent's entire deck, they effectively have no more input on the loop, and need only state that every clash they will simply put the revealed card back on top of their library.

    Because:
    a) counterbalance counters spells depending on converted mana cost, so it is possible to play around it.
    b) counterbalance is in play and visible, so the opponent will know he has to play around it or deal with it, whereas your guy will be hidden.
    c) spells with split second, or under a City of Solitude or Abeyance don't let you use the Sensei's Divining Top to change the card on top of your library, making the counterbalance much easier to deal with (a Krosan Grip on the counterbalance usually does the trick).
Your card is a counterpell you can play in almost every situation... to counter almost everything... specially after the opponent is in a compromising situation (e.g. to counter the infernal tutor when the opponent has confidently emptied his hand under the protection of his Xantid Swarm)

If you can afford to pay five mana, I think you can afford to counter an Infernal Tutor under protection from a Xantid Swarm. Particularly since you have to dedicate three of that mana on your own turn, which blue hates doing. If you tapped out to play this turn 3, you'd immediately lose to the decks you're talking about. If you played it on turn 5, the first time you can play it and still counter stuff, you've already lost to the fast combo decks.

Besides, having one card in existence that can get around these things if you're willing to spend the five mana is not, in fact, a bad thing.
