i dunno what you guys are talking about, liliana is basically the most broken thing to happen to magic since some guy broke the printing press. in the current standard enviornment, she's basically "pay 5 mana, put a card from your deck on the bottom of your library. target opponents jace gains two loyalty. give yourself a titty twister"
I know people might not like the Kor Hookmaster but I feel it can be a valuable card. Other than that, I'm not sold on any of the other cards/quantities. Thoughts would be great.
This will only be my third real event (and first with this deck). Thanks in advance guys.
hey, i'll be there this weekend as well running a similar build!
in my opinion, you definitely need more lands. a couple of Stirring Wildwood would be right up your alley i would think. memnite should probably be a 4-of, and personally i think 4-of skyfisher is more important than 4-of glint hawk.
no Devout Lightcaster in the sideboard? with fauna shaman, you only need a couple to be able to tutor for.
i'm not sure how i feel about thrun in this matchup. control already has problems with vengevine, i don't know if another thrun out of the board is necessary. what matchups are the acidic slimes for?
so i've included Hammer of Ruin as a 1-of in my sideboard for the Caw-go matchup. i've liked it so far, any other thoughts?
i've also been thinking some Emerge Unscathed in the sideboard for decks heavy on removal. protecting a guy then letting him swing through next turn seems really solid. thoughts?
hey guys. i gave kred a spin and hated it so i'm coming to the lighter side and will be running g/w quest at the DC 5k next weekend. couple of questions:
how important is kor duelist? it seems to me this deck wants to start with a quest in the opener or just mull. glint hawk + 0 drops doesnt seem awful either.
thoughts on Kor Skyfisher? i've seen him pop up here and there in lists but am not sure if he's the right fit. especially in green with Fauna Shaman it seems like he would take up a too-important slot.
i feel like the sideboards for this deck are all over the place. craig wescoe said he regretted not having Divine Offering which seems really good now, considering all the swords running around. Devout Lightcaster seems to be the absolute staple for sideboards, and understanbly so. i'm concerned with the triple white cost though. i understand the relevance of being able to tutor with Fauna Shaman but i feel like Celestial Purge should get consideration seeing as how it's just that much easier to cast. Refraction Trap seems really good against vampires and possibly kred if there's enough removal. Kor Firewalker is always popular but i'm not sure that there's enough red in the format to warrant more than maybe 1 spot for him. one reason in particular i like the green splash so much is Obstinate Baloth in the side. great against aggro as well as decks with Feast/Famine or discard.
thoughts on Kor Outfitter? the double white could be trouble in a format with spreading seas but could be pretty good maybe as a 2-of.
as far as the green splash, i'm going to see if i can find some space for Lead the Stampede. it seems like this would be a great deck to use it in because the most you'll miss is equipment which you should be able to tutor with stoneforge.
for the people who said Mul Daya Channelers, i actually made a budget legacy elves deck that ran only creatures and lands and channelers was almost always a 5/5 (since elves don't have a huge dependence on lands). he was pretty awesome and traded with Tarmogoyf more than once.
We're working on defining threads and fourms moving forward. It's more work than you think for a pretty thankless job.
thank you, moderators.
i don't understand how vampires is so successful though. it's one of those things that is just 'let's throw a bunch of suboptimal cards in a deck together and get a tier 1.5 deck' awkward.
the thing is, against another aggro deck, they're probably tapping out every turn, just like you are so they're probably not super-inclined to play it. chances are you aren't keeping a hand where CWZ is your only mana source, so if you're on the play and you see aggro, hold back the CWZ and hopefully you'll draw into enough sources.
i have to agree, ascension seems extremely winmore. i was actually having similar sentiments on Lead the Stampede and as accessible as green is in this color, it seems pretty logical to add it in. not sure how i feel about Raging Raving though. obviously i haven't tested it but having no ramp and having to use a EtBT land seems kinda crappy.
how it HoOR (that's funny if you say it out loud) perform for you? (that just makes it funnier). it seems like if this deck is winning by turn 4 i wouldn't be too concerned with 4 drops, even ones with haste. i feel like he could be dropped for more burn or additional support spells? i'm also not a huge fan of Spikeshot Elder but i assume his importance is much greater in a deck without all the artifact guys and rebirth.
believe me that you do not want instigator. with Ember Hauler and Goblin Wardrive as viable 2-drops, as well as goblin guide, removal/burn and rebirth as 1 drops in addition to not having a strong goblin (i.e. Siege-Gang Commander) to cheat into play, he just doesn't do enough.
any thoughts on Blisterstick Shaman? he was great in limited but i know that doesn't mean he translates well to constructed, plus there are far less guys with 1 toughness. he's a goblin and pings so i figured he's worth mentioning?
i was considering today that this deck might benefit from a black splash which would give access to Go for the Throat. seems like a solid way of dealing with titans and other fatties without having to waste double burn spells. not to mention it gives access to a manland (Lavaclaw Reaches)

cause its easier to hit your opponent for 10 damage than 20?
