I put in the set and I noticed Harvester of Souls was listed as a common and Emancipation Angel was mispelled. Otherwise great job.

Alright thanks for the info. I think we settled on doing a draft the weekend after since its cheaper to get the scars boxes online then trying to go to the closest game store and no one else has any interest in any other set other then scars. The closest stores we have to my area would be Dallas and Tyler. Well thanks for the help.

Not sure if this is the right place but I was thinking bout being a tournament organizer and try to get a launch party for Scars set up if it is not too late. How do you get the packs for the launch party? I havn't signed up yet cause I havn't found a public place to host the tournaments. Although if it falls through we will probably just do a standard tournament or a draft another day. Also is there any other advice you would give that I should know about being a to? It would be a small group of people, most of which I believe are casual players. We are bout an hour to hour and half outside of Dallas.

Blue was not definitetly the worst color. My vote would go more to white cause I didn't get very much and didn't see alot of it. Green was everywhere but the top and strongest color was red. There wasn't much blue but I got alot of people with my flyers. And it didn't seem slower to me. I was finishing alot of games in 5-7 turns. I got to the finals where we split the prize at my tourny.

Here's my deck. Went 4-1 in 5 rounds and made it to the finals out of top 8 out of 30 people. We split packs in the finals so didn't play that game so 1st/2nd plack is nice. No one creature really stood out for me. All did awesome at some point. Major props to Geopede, Windrider Eel, and Emeria Angel though lol. My only lose in the first round was mostly cause of Hedron Crab I kid you not. He played it first turn both games and it just wrecked. You feel bad bout wasting removal on it but you can't just leave it there the whole game either. I actually got decked the 2nd game. First game I wasted a kill spell on it just to have Sphinx of Jwar Isle and Sky Ruin Drake played the next 2 turns. My other rares were Pyromancer Ascension, Sadistic Sacrament, and Warrern Instigator.

    Lands x16
    x8 Mountain
    x5 Island
    x2 Plains
    x1 Arid Mesa

    Creatures x15
    x1 Hedron Crab
    x1 Welkin Tern
    x2 Goblin Shortcutter
    x2 Plated Geopede
    x2 Umara Raptor
    x1 Ruinous Minotaur
    x1 Torch Slinger
    x2 Windrider Eel
    x1 Emeria Angel
    x1 Merfolk Seastalkers
    x1 Geyser Glider

    Spells x9
    x2 Burst Lightning
    x1 Explorer's Scope
    x1 Slaughter Cry
    x1 Magma Rift
    x1 Khalni Gem
    x1 Inferno Trap
    x1 Rite of Replication
    x1 Whiplash Trap

  • posted a message on Priceless Treasures in ZEN packs!!! (confirmed!)
I played in Longview, Tx. Had bout 30 people show up so it was like a total of 7 boxes given out including prizes and no treasure cards got opened. Maybe tomorrow someone gets lucky. I walked out with 3 fetchlands, Warren Instigator, Day of Judgement, Nissa Revane, Emeria Angel, Scute Mob, and Valakut as my goodies. Made top 2 and we split packs so I ended up with 19 packs total for the day.

Don't know if anyone mentioned this but has anyone considered Leonin Armorguard? It prolly isn't worth it but is a soldier and it will pump them for a turn for a strike and would be great with the preeminent captain as a target other then captain of the watch. Maybe I'll test it out.

If you want token making cards Bitterblossom, Goblin Assault, or Sprouting Thrinax. If you need some more sac outlets theres Nantuko Husk though thats only in standard till M10 unless it gets reprinted. Then theres Marsh Flitter and Siege-Gang Commandeer that comes into play with tokens and can sac them. For some budget alternatives maybe Tukatongue Thallid or Dragon Fodder for tokens. Your lands don't look too bad. Maybe 2 more Savage Lands or Twilight Mire if you can get them. And Sarkhan Vol is amazing with this deck too. Steal their creatures and sac them lol.

  • posted a message on this weird GW beats deck....
They used to have a thread for it but it disappeared. Here's my list that has been doing amazing. I just won a tournament today with it and the last standard i was in I got second with it. It can be very fast. You make sure you have a mana guy in your hand and play him on your first turn to lay down a Finks, Cavalier, or Escort on turn two followed by Liege or Knight on turn 3. And its not bad at all to mulligan down to find a managuy to play on first turn if you can't. There are several games where I won when I mulliganed to 5 cards to make sure I had a fast hand. This deck owns Blightning and I beat an EsperLark today without too much problem.

Have you considered Brion Stoutarm? A guy here in my town runs him in his Naya deck and it has been very good in it. He beat my GW deck to win our last tournament. He very easly gave him alot of life if you don't have removal for him.

Heres the deck I took to the local tournament today. Was gonna go to regionals but its a good drive for me and it was alot cheaper to pay for this tourny then for regionals and gas. I had a really good showing going 4-0 and advancing to the finals. Heres my rounds for anyone who may be interested.

Round 1 - Playing against a new player so it wasn't too fair. Had a red/black deck without most of the good cards. Needless to say I steamrolled him going 2-0.

    1-0
Round 2 - Now I play against a real red/black deck complete with plenty of burn and demigods. First game it was a slugfest with him burning my creatures and me removing his from the game. In the end it came down to me almost stabilizing at 3 life but with Anathemancer in the graveyard he finished me off. His star of the whole round was Goblin Outlander by far. I side out all my Qasali Pridemages for Celestial Purge. I knew he had Everlasting Torment in his sideboard so I figured they would be better then the pridemages. They sure helped giving me 11 removal spells all which get removed from the game. Game 2 was a hardfought match won by me and game 3 was just the same. I go 2-1. The removal was what helped me out cause he got alot of his too. I know several times I managed to get rid of his flame javelins by equiping my sledge to my mana guys. Smile
His Everlasting Torments never really did anything for him. They never stayed long enougth. The one amazing thing bout this round was I got a turn 2 finks every game lol.

    2-0
Round 3 - I play against a monogreen elves deck. He was undefeated and doing pretty well. I knew he beat a doran deck in round 2 and then some esper deck in round 1. In game 1 it lasted for a lil while till I find a Shield of the Oversoul and it's game over for him. In game 2, I finally did not open my hand with a manaproducer. I managed to last fairly well with my slow start. He landed a Chameleon Colossus and I pathed it. 2 turns later there comes another one. I O-ring it. Couple turns later there was a third one. Frown
I was like wtc. No more removal for me so its game over. Game 3 I land a turn 2 Finks followed by a turn 3 Shield of the Oversoul for the win. Smile

    3-0
Round 4 - I play against the doran deck the elves deck beat. Game 1 wasn't too bad for me. Went back and forth with killing each others stuff, him with evoking shriekmaws. Guess he couldn't find any paths. I took a really risky move enchanting a cavaliers with the shield of the oversoul hoping he didnt have a path. it was just sitting in my hand with a llanowar elf so I chanced it. I rode it for the win, so it paid off. Game 2 I sided 2 Purge in for the Shields. May not be the best idea. I mulligan when I had a Woodland Bastion and a plains with a bird in hand. The next hand was alot better. This game I just stomped him.

    4-0
Semifinals - Im back against the Elf deck. I steamroll him both games.

Finals - Im playing against a Naya deck with acceleration. The guy is a really good player. He beat the good red/black deck in the semis though in round 1 the red/black deck pounded him. I wasn't who I'd rather play against. Well now I know i'd rather play against the red/black lol. I was more on the stalling side Game 1 when he plays Brion Stoutarm. He would attack with a fatty and when I would kill it he would chunk it at me. I never got his life below 15. It was above 20 for most of the game. Game 2 I side in my celestial purges hoping they would help me. It went alright with me the advantage with a Oversoul of Dusk in play and then he lands 2 Walls of Reverence in play one followed by another a turn later with a Spellbreaker Behemoth in play. He plays Sarkhan Vol which I get rid of 2 turns later which he follows after that with an Ajani Vengeant. Then I landed another Oversoul of Dusk. He finally gets an O-ring with the next turn and lays a Brion Stoutarm. Then next turn he plays Blitz Hellion attacks and throws it at me. My advantage is far gone now. I'm at 4 life and play a Finks. He attacks with a Spellbreaker Behemoth the next turn and throws at more cause of a stupid Noble Hierarch. So yeah this was my hardest match of the day. The only thing that could have gone better was I only got 2 removal spells all game. Frown

There wasn't any token or 5 color control decks being played but since this was the first time playing this deck it looks really promising. There is some tweeking I can do but I have to get the cards first. I really like this deck though and one of the amazing things is I almost always opened with a mana guy and always landed a 3 mana drop on turn 2 and usually but not always a pumper on turn 3. I think I had 3 hands all day that didn't have a mana guy.

Well I'm gonna test my deck out tomorrow at a tournament. I know it's not completely finished so I'm gonna see how it goes. I know I need the painlands but don't have and the same for just the 2 of Hierarchs and Lieges. Was deciding on including the Escort maindecked but I don't see me having many creatures out at a time for its ability so it will prolly be a 3/3 beater for 3 most of the time. But I may change my mind by tomorrow morning. Though I already have lots of 3 drops: 8 creatures and 7 spells. Granted the spells I would rather be playing later in game. Oh and don't own any equipment either.

I don't see how Mycoid Sheperd would not fit in the deck. It's like a fatter Finks without persist. For 1 mana more you +2 power and +1 toughness and providing no remove from game effects you get +1 life compared to Finks after it persisted. So really it's a tossup, fatter creature that has to die to gain life which they will want to get rid of or a smaller one that that gains life when it comes in play and comes back. I think it would be great to play both. Thats more lifegain for me. Not so good for other aggro decks. The only removal that removes from game that I can think of that gets played is white with Path and O-Ring though red has Magma Spray which I always maindecked in my red decks just for Finks and other persisters but that won't get the shepherd. It's more of a personal choice I think but we will see in future tournaments. Something will have to go in my deck for sure though for more disruption. I think I will take this deck to regionals. Its this or red green haste aggro with Bloodbraid

Here is what I came up with. Havn't done any testing with it yet. It would be fairly resistant to fallout. It seems it definetly needs more removal or combat trick. Maybe Sigil Blessing or Oblivion Ring. Maybe take out Dauntless Escort since mostly the only thing that will wipe my creatures other then spot removal would be Wrath or Firespout aside from a few. I can see faeries being a problem mainly with Sower of Temptation. I have been beat down many times with him taking one of my creatures many times.
