I'm really conflicted with this one. In one moment I think it's the enchantress legendary I've waited for so long and in the next I think that a base 1/1 with no protection and the once per turn draw is really underwhelming as a commander. Do I have to find my middle-ground here? Is this just an okay general overall? Is the Nymph superior to this? I seriously have no clue how to tackle my new enchantment build.
More garbage, this set is going to be tough to sell.

Yes, quite so, I'm in huge conflict with this set. In general, I'm just not fond of cracking boxes for 2 or 3 chase mythics because all the other cards are trash compared to them. They might be interesting, I won't argue with that, but they are still trash compared to karn, teferi and history. Even worse is the aftermath and the bad feeling of knowing that those who bought their 50€ karns and 25€ mox ambers just lost a ton of money in the long run due to unjustified hype and emotional blindness. It's like battle for Zendikar, except karn and teferi are counted as expeditions.
I really want to like her, but man, 5 mana, that's the ob-nixilis, jace the unraveler zone. Not protecting herself with okay effects all around doesn't justify a 5 mana walker imo. 4 mana would be sweet, great even to ramp into, but at 5 she's just relegated to rot in sideboards. Worst of all, she's not even a good answer to Lyra as pointed out by some, as Lyra is pretty often flashed in by raff capashen, creating this awkward situation where you might even have to kill Raff cuz you know Vivian will die to a flashed Lyra anyways.
I'm not even riled up because she feels bland or uninteresting, and this is ME we're talking about. I'm just frustrated because she feels so mediocre. If this is supposed to be a new, important character who might even replace Nissa for a long time, make her card so powerful it WOWs people. That's how you create sympathy and interest for a character right from the get-go. Imagine if all lorwyn 5 were on the powerlevel of the first chandra, players wouldn't have given one single **** for each of those characters.
Is it just me or will alterists have a field day with this set? This rector is a nice homage to the old one, plus some new cards are interesting for edh, but man... the art on this card in partciular... I just can't stomach it, it's way too progressive for me.
Wow, so overcosted. This could easily be CMC 4, but maybe that would bump it to rare if you didn't change the stats.
All these legends... nobody will remember half of them after this set is fully spoiled.
Can only agree with you on this, they're trying way too hard here. What made old dominaria and their heroes great was that they had their purpose and also time to develop as characters. I couldn't care less about 50 new tryhard legends. A few interesting ones maybe aside, they're weak, forgettable and all in all a disgrace to what should be a legend in the magic multiverse. Only my opinion though, I guess I just can't see all the supposed nostalgia here.

Believe me, I wanted to LOVE this set. But once nostalgia-blindness subdues, ppl will realize how mediocre Dominaria is in terms of power level.
