Has anyone tried terminus in a u/w build ?

It seems as though it can be a useful inclusion.

No need for more wrath on this deck. the purpuse of going UW is the cheap removal(path), cheap "gain-turn" (silence) and better SB cards(stony silence/leyline/timely reinforcement/ect...)

When do you guys chose to put Laboratory Maniac in the sideboard as an alt wincon?
Are there any color comobos in turn decks where it just can't find a slot it the sideboard?

I don't. Personally I think it is too narrow and I can't think of a relevant match up were we could need it.

if i go infinite, i can cast Cryptic Command bounce Worship/whatever you have on the battlefield. the problem of this deck always as been the first fews turns before the combo. not the combo itself.

it depend of the matchup and your hand, imo its not always a good play to burn the bird. to always killing the noble hierarch, on another hand, might be a good play (cause they are annoying as ***** :p )

Bedlam Reveler is indeed terrible in Burn. i tried 2 in my Mardu Burn this weekend. coun't cast it a single time. i think to run it good we need to trim the number of creature... to 8-10 including the 2-3 Reveler. (we might need to cut the monastery swiftspear, may be more to make it playable) Bedlam Reveler might also only be playable in a dedicated delver deck with a lot of can trip.

I don't think there is any reason to play Emrakul over Elexir except the flavor of winning another "extra turn". The life gain is relevent against aggro and Part the Waterveil is more than enought to win after you cast it. Its basicaly a 2-3 turn clock if you tap their blocker. IMO Temporal Mastery is pretty bad. You draw 2-3 card per turn. 99% of the time its a gain turn for 7 that exile itself or you have to miracle it when your not ready. Doing it just as a explore on turn 4 is not that great a I would max the number of part the waterveil before playing any temporal. don't get me wrong. I tested it. Its super funny to win a turn during their turn, but since they printed Part the Waterveil, i did not look bakc, i prefered to have a better spell 99% of the time than being lucky once in a while. Have you played Exhaustion? Its basicaly a gain turn for 3 mana. Also, i don't like playing too much gain turn that exile themsleve, as you won't be able to cycle them back in the deck. Late game if i activate the elixir at the right time, the density of gain turn after that make it almost impossible to fizzle.

Radiant fountain is ok. But i don't want too many colourless land with Mikokoro (a must have!) and Gigadrowse! But at the same time i really want to try a couple in my deck.

Anyone tried Ancestral Vision seriously? I have 4 already cause i play Shardless Bug in Legacy, I still like Serum Vision... I wnat feedback

I did top4 of a 16players modern event last saturday. My 2 lost were against Burn. I got roll over the first time. And the second in the top 4 i killed his Eidolon with a Redirect on Bolt but lost over the next Eidolon! :p Sideboard was very untuned and old. Last time i played the deck was before eldrazi winter and twin was legal... Ugh! Wipe Away is not very good atm XD

I want more fast counter in SB => Dispel / Negate... and i want to test the 1-2 Engulf the Shore in SB

As long as you hit lands drop you don't need to be hasty with this deck. I Sb out a couple of Cryptic more often than i would like to admit (vs control for exemple) protecting your combo with a 4 mana counter is not great. Sometime I still keep one post SB. You can also use it a semi-gain turn. Pass turn with 6-7 mana up and cryptic and Gigadrowse in hand. Its basicly gain turn. Post SB, you'r not suppose to touch the core of you deck. You can upgrade your Counterspell, Remand for exemple is bad in control matchup. Its really good VS midrange. Remand a Tramogoyf/Kalithas is like to gain a turn! So Negate/Dispel and cie... Instead of slow semi-counter. You just upgrade your cards. Control is really an easy mathc up if you can resolve howling mine effect. Howling mine effect are the most important thing in this matchup. Good players will try to attack those cards. Bad player will try to counter Time Warp. You need 1.5 mine-effect in play to win. That means that 1 in not enough, 2 is more than enough at 3 its almost overkill. Beware of discarting when you try to play fast during the combo. Worst matchup is RDW Affinity Infect Boggle... (Fast combo/aggro). Midrange and Control are easy as ****! Back in the days, twin was one of my favorite matchup. Look at this deck like a scapeshift deck. Except the scapeshift need 5min to resolve.

Not really sure where to put the deck, its not the usual Jeskai Black Midrange deck. But its still Jeskai. i won quite a lot of games this week on Xmage with a Jeskai Ascendancy deck. I'm sleeving this deck for my PPTQ this weekend. I did consider a splash (G and B) but the manabase was too shacky for turn 1 Monastery Swiftspear. I was playing more Slip Through Space at the start but i prefer the good old Defiant Strike for its instant speed. I'm not sure i want a 3rd Treasure Cruise, it keeps going in and out. I did try Monastery Mentor. But i found it too slow sometime and Jeskai Ascendancy is everything i want in this deck. I did try Jace online (-1 Defiant Strike -3 Seeker +3 Jace +1 Treasure Cruise) It was good. Cool plays. Expedite Jace to flip it. flashback cantrip is pure card advantage or cast Titan's Strength 2 times (on a prowess creature its +8/+4) but i know this weekend i wont have access to them in paper magic. So it stopped to playtest with them. Sideboard is mess. But there is some idea Deflecting Palm is bonker vs the big Ramp decks atm. Kozilek's Return is basically "deal 2 damages on your creatures and 1 on mines and trigger +1 attack.". Good against aggro decks like atarka red, some mirror and random aggro decks. its quite strong and better than Radiant Flames IMO. Hallowed Moonlight is for the Rally deck. To be honest i did not play a lot against it, so i'm not sure its enough against it but i told myself that at least it negate 1 of their spell and cantrip, it can't be that bad in a Ascendancy deck. I'm interrested to fit Felidar Cub, Erase or Abzan Advantage to deal BWx decks with a lot of Silkwrap/Stasis Snare. I just don't know yet were to place them in my SB and how many. Any suggestion is welcome.

My decklist atm. i changed Temporal Mastery for Part the Waterveil. the bad thing about Part is that it exile itself (not worse than Temporal Mastery if you ask me). the bad side is that you use less Walk the Aeons buyback ability because you try to reach 9 lands to start the clock. Removing Temporal made me remove Telling Time. which was less than optimal in all fast match up. Boomerang is quite handy in those match up, to bounce an attacker or a land early game. its a sort-of remand, sometime its even better. because i removed telling time and thassa i added 2 howling mine. (6 effect, 8 if you count jace and mikokoro) you need about 2 of them into play to go infinite and i was felling like i needed more than i had in my deck vs Jund deck in general. i'm not sure of every slot in the SB. Spell Pierce and the 3rd Boomerang might be overkill, i try to improve my early match up vs aggro deck in general. i'm still not sure of those cards. Redirect is nice vs discard, bolt, command, abrupt decay, its also an ok counterspell decks. the deck is amazing, but if you play it in a tournament ask your opponent to concede(when you have 3 mine effect and its you 8th turn in a row.) and play it really fast... its really boring to play against... a bit like playing against High Tide in Legacy :p

i'm playing Takin'Turns since july (a deck won a local event of +100people) and i really like to stay with the classics. so i am playing about 12 gain turn. 1 Exhaustion 3 Temporal Mastery (and i was toying with a couple of Telling Time) 4 Walk the Aeons and 4 Time Warp. Bottom line is : i didn't like Telling Time at all and Thassa was hard to sneak into play when you'r in combo mode. This week i have been testing Part the Waterwell and TBH i see no reason to not play it instead of Temporal Mastery. Its cheaper +75% of the time than Mastery and its a win-con. And since it added additional win-cons, i removed Thassa. Part the Waterwell is really good.

Borborygmos Enraged Wow, i never thought about him... 5 lands is enough to kill a lot of deck. i often find myself at the end of the game with too many lands in my hand... not sure about your idea of cutting hivemind. I often sb it out and make a midrange G deck but i feel its good game 1 even in bad matchup. I think you need at least a Pact of Negation to play Titan into Tolaria West into Pact of Negation. Anyways Borborygmos worth testing.

it will be a freezing day in hell when i run Jace, the Living Guildpact in a deck. i will run Jace, Architect of Thought ANYTIME before that.

Kolaghan's Command... if they don't see an artifact game 1, i'm pretty sure they SB it out. it's not really effective vs us. But if you play 4 Mine, i can see it being a problem.

i don't think you can beat Infect. Affinity... there is a reason there is 3 Hurkyl's Recall in the SB. Burn is beatable but Eidolon must never resolve.

IMO, this deck is basicly a mono U splinter twin deck that need a mine-effect in play and at least 5 mana to start combo-off. its just a worse combo deck. but its a tons of fun to play. you dodge a lot of hate. and majority of people don't expect it at all. Being Mono U have its strength and its weakness but i don't think you absolutely need to splash to make the deck playable.

@doc.brown if you splash green you dont want to play Eternal Witness cause au double G.

@Sporefrogzz I tried the exact decklist as the other dude. now i will make some changes for sure. Academy Ruins seem sweet, the random Ghost Quarter did not help me really much today to be honest. i could almost have been a Radiant Fountain, and would have done more work. i will definitely add the 2 non-island islands. if i find them(they seem hard to find atm, Oboro in particular.)

Exhaustion seem sweet, thought i'm not sure about it yet.

Gigadrowse split seem fine to me atm. the card was ok, but not completely stellar to deserve 4 MD slot.

the deck definitely need more mine effect as i said. but not more than 8 total. Thassa herself is almost an mine effect. Jace Beleren also. so may be 2 extra. I think i will play Howling Mine itself. i don't want a guy that can die.

    ------------------------------

Played today at a PPTQ. i watched the video of Frank Lepore with this deck just before the event to understand the lines of play. i did only 3-3, i won against Cruel Control (good matchup) Mono U Tron (good matchup) Jund (not bad)... and lost to AdNauseum(bad match up), Burn(not very good match up) and Splinter Twin(???)

on the Adnauseum deck (with Angel Grace and cie) i didn't know they could win instant speed, so i was kinda surprise. but i don't think its a good matchup to begin with.

Burn is hard, i find Spell Pierce in the SB barely playable for this style of deck. even in that match up. try to counter a bolt on 3 land, its weird. Next time i will play some Dispel. I want more hard counter. It also protect the first Gain turn you play vs Control. I don't understand Spell Pierce in this deck, every time i had it in my hand, i was feeling like dispel or spell snare would have 100% better in this deck. please enlighten me on we spell pierce is good.

splinter twin, i was too greedy (i always forgot the Pestermite tap a land) i need to practice more this match up in general.

Cruel is a piece of cake. they are too slow, have a lot of dead card (kill spells...) and we have more counterspell than them. Oddly enough i was playing Dictate at the end of my turn when he was tapped out for an anticipate. i had no other choice.

Jund is not that hard we have a bunch of tempo play and our hands are pretty resilient to discard spell. Everything Draw Counter or Gain Turn. Watch out for choke. he got me game 2.

Mono U tron is like a bad control deck vs us. they have only a couple of counterspell and their wincon are also slow and need to attack. they dont play Karn and no Big Fancy Eldrazi. Only slow Wurmcoil Engine and Big coulourless creatures that you can Gigadrose or cryptic bounce.

Thassa was awesome all day for me. Its a quick clock. and helps toward the win. My Jund player quickly understood that Dictate was very important to make the deck work and was playing Abrupt Decay on them ASAP. SO i might add some howling mine in MD or SB. May be like 1-2. or may be a second Jace Beleren somewhere. I feel like a 4th Cryptic wouldn't hurt either. I didn't SB in Lab Maniac. Honestly, Thassa is already really hard to deal with in modern and i have Jace Beleren as a back up. (and Elixir.) i can't see a spot where i would wish it in my deck.

Overall i fell like with a bit more preparation (toward my plays vs splinter twin notably.) i can make this deck work. I think i can modify the SB to reflect my style of play. this deck is great. and fun. except for our opponents. Smile

this list won 148 player event : http://manadeprived.com/mdss-toronto-wrap-up/ since its a event (relatively) close to me, it got me interrested in the deck. What do you think of the decklist.

    @TrueFFIke

    1. personnaly i dont run SSG. its a personnal choice, i don't think it make a huge difference in the result. i prefer consistency over explosiveness.

    2. right now i'm high on Firespout... you just need to play against Merfolk or Elves to see. sometime 2 is not enough

    3. i think you need at least 1 of each. you can play the deck without it and win. but those cards really help in the long run.

    4. i personnaly play 3 hive mind because we have no way to tutor it. Primeval Titan is my wincon most of the time (because you can tutor it with almost everything... tolaria west, summoner's Pact, Titan itself. its like having 11 copies)
