The great thing about EDH isn't creating useless decks, it's showing everyone online that I did.

Do you not understand WHY these cards are banned?

I don't think politics has much to do with which of these generals he should play. All of them will win easily if you play the politics correctly because all will combo out if you're not disrupted consistently. The lion's share of victories will be surprise victories, Azami isn't great at that (compared to the other two).

Arcum has the best chance of being able to win immediately if you untap with him (or Lightning Greaves with him). He also has a very agreeable casting cost and you can easily Mana Drain into a victory.

Azami will probably take multiple turns of trying to establish crazy-CA before you can win, and even then you have to set up a combo independent of Azami. Drawing a lot of cards is cool, but people shouldn't let you untap 7 mana and 4 Wizards with Azami on board where she really shines.

Zur gets to run black (and white), which opens up a lot of extra combos.

    Citation needed.

It's definitely possible for a disease to evolve that humans have no resistance against. There's no law of biology that says someone somewhere has to be carrying resistant genes.

Like i said, i don't see a real reason to mandate wearing one. its a personal choice and if i die from a wreck specifically because i was not wearing my safety belt then that sucks but i was fully aware it could happen. if i dont die and instead am in a coma and on life support, i leave it up to my next of kin or closest friend to decide, id have them pull the cord but thats just me.

If they cant afford hospital care is not the point of this debate however. Id say act however the law dictates in that case or let there family worry about it.

The problem is that while your friends and relatives decide whether you live or die, they're not the ones paying. If they choose to keep you on life support, but can't pay, then the state pays to keep you alive. What a crazy socialist society we live in where we don't leave our injured out to die on the streets....

As much as I'd love for every gun totin' redneck like yourself to have the right to be pointlessly maimed in a car crash, and then be left to die bleeding on the pavement, you (or at least your corpse or vegetative body) would create a massive burden on our non-Spartan society.

    Quote from Captain_Morgan

Burglar forfeited any expectation to safety once they broke into the home, especially with the intent to do harm. Not all home invasions are about stuff, sometimes they're about sex.

That's not remotely how the law works.

You're only allowed to respond in kind (with an equal level of force). Say you lay traps in your home and you're not there. A burglar breaks into your house. He cannot possibly harm you or any members of your family, but he's caught and seriously injured in your trap. You were the person who escalated the level of violence, and you can bet you'll find your way to a jail cell.

I for one intend to stay well above the mason-dixon line so I don't get killed by someone like you, but so you know: putting up a sign that says, "Trespassers will be shot" does not give you the right to shoot someone who enters your property. You have the right to ownership of property, but violating that property is not a threat to you. If you are present in your home and a burglar enters, that constitutes an intent to cause harm and you have the right to respond with an equal (non-lethal) level of force. Examples: Fisticuffs, pepperspray, bean bag weapons, tasers.

Just trying to help you stay out of jail, here.

Cards should only come off the banlist when they're safe. Memory Jar is not remotely safe with Goblin Welder, Metalworker, Grim Monolith, etc. Don't believe me? Playtest. Don't speculate and throw words like "bogeyman" around when you clearly don't understand why it was banned in the first place.

5 mana to see 7 new cards? Yeah, seems fair.... The fact that you'd compare its draw power to Ad Nauseam, which requires a lot of life remaining in-game AND a ridiculously streamlined decklist (you can only run 1 or 2 Ad Nauseams, just from the life loss, and then very sparingly play anything that costs more than 2) proves that you don't understand why Memory Jar would be a threat.

Earthcraft should also stay banned. There are two card combos in Legacy that win the game, but Squirrelcraft would be by far the easiest to assemble, plus the pieces are decently useful on their own.

Squirrel Nest makes an army of 1/1s. It's not the best card, but you could block your opponent's Tarmogoyfs, etc. until you can find the combo pieces you need.

There are some other combos with Earthcraft. Wild Growth on a Plains or Utopia Sprawl White and Sacred Mesa = Infinite dudes. Even without Wild Growth, you get all of the tokens at half price. 4-5 tokens a turn can easily seal the game up against most decks.

The most commonly played two-card combo is probably Sword of the Meek and Thropter Foundry. Both pieces are junk without the other piece and the cost is about the same. Also, Thropters requires 4-5 lands to work and takes several turns to build up. Squirrel Craft is strictly better and easier, but Thropter Foundry still sees a lot of play.

What the current person fails to understand is that light can be bent it can also be affected by gravity. to say that we can be 100% correct how long something out there is a guess it is far from accurate. you put to much faith in that science is always correct and that everything is a fact.

You know something, which in this case is worse than nothing. School is where you can get educated, but your wild assumption is like saying, "You can't know for sure that my client is the one stabbing the victim in the chest. Air molecules bend light, creating disturbances that make camera footage useless." While the premises are true, the conclusion does not follow.

Feel free to look up gravitational lensing, the speed of light in a vacuum, or simply do the calculation yourself (not hard).

I think this has serious implications for the scientific community as a whole. mostly since i believe the universe was created at one time. it means that well they have to go back and revisit their theories again.

Scientists are always revisiting their theories and the theories of others. The most fruitful areas of research are often revising existing theories. But no, this has no impact whatsoever on the "scientific community as a whole."

i guess you don't understand the implications of this. it means they were possibly wrong about the big bang. which i never agreed with anyway just on a logical scale. It means that there is possibly another theory to explain the creation of the Universe.

How does the fact that evidence corroborates a theory prove that there is possibly another theory to explain the creation of the Universe? There are at this time no other theories for the creation of the Universe other than the Big Bang Theory.

On a somewhat unrelated note: Does it ever bother you that you don't read the actual science articles and get your science news from thirdhand religious sources?

If I may, I point you to the example of the female cat.
The male cat's ***** is covered in minute barbs that point backwards. This makes the removal of the ***** from the female cat's ****** a very painful experience for the female. And yet, the female cat does want to reproduce.
I think that, in conclusion, we can see that the desire to reproduce overpowers the desire to avoid pain.

It's hard to determine for sure that the female cat thinks it's painful.

In cities, hot dog vendors establish business locales on sidewalks. They have to get permits, because they are engaging in commerce....

How can San Francisco, and other cities, excuse their prohibition of homeless folks, while allowing everyone else to use the sidewalks?

You answered your own question. There are a number of restrictions already in place for what you can and can't do on sidewalks, but you don't see Faux News complaining about those.

I don't understand this idea that you have the right to infringe upon the rights of others. If you are exercising your right to do whatever you want on the sidewalk, you impinge upon another person's right to use the sidewalk (say for transportation).

I'd like to see a fair and balanced article about this issue (or ideally two articles). It seems 90% of the threads in this place link to articles with a clear political or financial bias.

    This. A lot.

Any arguement about the 'awesomeness' or 'crapiness' of music will go no where, because it's all subjective. Just try to find objectivity in music taste.

Some music is certainly better than other music. You wouldn't say that Beethoven's Fifth is crap and then laud your son's 4th grade band playing Mary Had a Little Lamb.

Music can be "crap" (opinion) because it is not to your liking or because the topic is something you find pedestrian. But music can also be crap (fact) because it is poorly executed, or the lyrics is hackneyed.

In this way, we can differentiate between, say, Fall Out Boy, Metallica, Eliza Doolittle, Katy Perry, Vampire Weekend, and The San Francisco Symphony Orchestra.

(I chose bands and people whom I happen to like, but I can't argue effectively that Eliza Doolittle is not crap the same way that I could argue that SFSO is not crap).

There is a difference between scientific debate and lay debate.

A scientist will say, "This changes our understanding of how the universe took shape" when he means (in layman's terms), "This is an important field of research. Please read my paper and contribute to my grant."

Laypeople interpret it to mean, "Our current understanding is completely wrong, and I've disproven it."

Of course, the blame really lies on the laypeople for being too stupid to understand, but scientists should also be more careful with their wording, since this kind of crap happens every day.

I can't believe someone wouldn't like this deck.

The maindeck is pretty solid and does what it's supposed to do consistently. It runs a lot of guys to get through creature removal and the thickest countersuite in Magic as well as maindeck removal for every permanent type.

Yeah, it's close to Bant, but it makes considerable changes. It's probably not reinventing the wheel, but Wasteland is a significant addition that wouldn't gain support as a universal change for Bant Aggro, and splits the deck into having different matchups. It makes sense to have a separate thread.

You do need a name without underscores, though. WUG Tempo or Bant Tempo.

To me, it's more about conquering our fear of being murdered by an extremist Muslim than it is about anything else. People are afraid to draw Muhammud due to what they've seen extremists do.

Comedy Central censored Muhammud. CNN censored Muhammud. Not because they're afraid of Muslim sensibilities, but because they're afraid of retaliation.

These Muslim extremists use fear to control our behavior, to make people afraid to exercise their rights. That's ridiculous.

The "collateral damage" of DMD is that the non-homicidal Muslims (the ones who set up the political environment where murder for one's faith is ok and who also believe in the same things) see a picture of Muhammud. It's a really small price to pay compared to the ability to discuss Islam in an open forum. I think even most Muslims would agree that Islam is sidelined in part because of their association with these homicides. DMD is a great opportunity for non-homicidal Muslims to differentiate themselves from their homicidal brethren and say, "We won't kill you, and we don't endorse murder or the fear that these extremists are using to infringe on your freedoms."

As long as "moderates" keep saying, "We don't support murder, but... you deserve to die for drawing Muhammud." It's not really opening up Islam to debate, you know?

I think a lot of judgmental idiots just popped into the thread without researching the background on this.

People actually DIED because of the Danish Cartoon fiasco. 105 people, if I recall died immediately after in the various riots associated with the cartoons. And over the years a number of people criticizing Islam in other ways have been murdered or been forced into hiding by homicidal fatwas. There are passages in the Quran (that moderate Muslims take literally) that command you to kill people who insult Islam.

Not every Muslim is a terrorist, but Muslims have collectively established this track record that you might get killed if you criticize Islam. Muslim extremists get the last hit, but this attitude that murdering people for religion is ok is absolutely ridiculous. This isn't a Bronze Age desert.

But people are afraid to insult Islam. It's given the wide birth of a prison rapist, even in academic circles. This fear validates the acts of terrorism committed by Muslims.

And you have to keep in mind that the fear *IS* real. Buddha can snort coke and Jesus can have an internet porn addiction, but Santa Clause in a bear costume pretending to be Muhammud is a big fiasco where people are actually afraid that they could get killed.

Part of America (and western culture as a whole) is freedom of speech. Speech isn't free if you could get killed for what you say. Draw Muhammud day is a (relatively) safe opportunity to criticize one of Islam's most retarded beliefs, and a belief that has, in recent times actually led to murders: That Muslims should kill humans drawing Muhammud.

I don't like Christianity, either, but if I call the Pope a pedophile in public (that's mainly speculation, but he did help other pedophiles escape justice), I'm not going to get killed.

If I point out that Muhammud actually raped a 9 year old girl in the Quran in public, even though that's not speculative at all, I still fear repercussions.
