Thanks for replying. I appreciate the tip on MOTL.
I'm probably not interested in liquidating the cards, but would move them all at a discount in bulk if there is a good way to do it.
However, i am most interested if there is a way i can pull the TCG player prices, Deckbox, SCG prices etc as a database or spreadsheet. Is there a way to get a database of their prices? From there i could do some simple look up tables etc to value my collection.
there are simply too many cards to do an individual search on their websites.
I apologize in advance if I've not put enough effort into searching for this information if its readily and easily accessible in the forums.
I've been inactive in playing for 2+ years now and I'm getting out of magic. I'm thinking about selling off my collection. I have a relatively decent amount of time to devote to sorting and selling but also don't know what the current landscape is like for buying/selling cards.
I've used Cardshark in the past to sell, i've also done ebay. I'm wondering though if it makes more sense to use a forum here on MTGsalvation to advertise and sell my collection. I'm planning on inventorying my collection this weekend using a spreadsheet. Before I do it, is there a good template or format that would be advantageous to use? I ask in case there is some sort of tool or method that i can that i can automate looking up card values.
I'm familiar with MOTL, are their Price lists helpful or misguided?
Do you recommend any other sort of price list?
At this point i've only really held onto rares probably ~2500+, and i have stuff from Revised and forward. I've also kept my important useful commons etc. I have playsets of Jaces, fetches, and quite a few duals etc. No Alpha/Beta or P9. Lots of EDH staples. I only share that information to give you a rough estimate of what i'm dealing with here. Also, how important is it to list the condition of every card? id say all my cards are in good or better with the majority of them at NM. I don't really want to spend the time to go through condition of 2500+ cards. Is there a price value of an individual card you'd recommend that i make a cut off for determining the condition?
1. play pyromancer's ascension.
2. play Intuition 3 copies of lava dart, 1 goes to your hand, the other 2 go to your graveyard.
3. play lava dart from your hand, +1 counter on pyromancer's ascension
4. Flashback a lava dart in the graveyard, would that not get your second counter on the pyromancer's ascension?
Wall of denial seems good but not when you want to wipe via day of judgment.
I can see pyroclasm being very useful against goblins, soldiers, even vampires, but it would require testing. maybe dropping elspeth to 2, or ajani to 3 would be acceptable instead of cutting a pyroclasm. but i think you have it right, 1 less pyroclasm for a sphinx seems good.
the sphinx could also be run just in the sideboard as a 4 of to replace the ascension in certain matchups. versus vampires between the hex vampire and the bloodwitch, ascension isn't that great. the sphinx would be a much more viable finisher.
4/4 pro white creature is not fun for this deck. In fact we have no answer to it at all. I think this vampire is going to be the finisher of choice for a lot of vampire decks so i think it is really problematic. i expect to see a lot of vampire decks running around out there because wizards essentially built the deck for everyone.
its an alternate finisher to the ascension. Maybe adding 2 to the main? you could drop the ascension by 1, maybe one of the planewalkers? I'd hate to drop the ascensions down to 3.
I live in the Fairfax Area and I'm interested in finding a place or people to draft with.
I realize that there is a great MTG scene up in maryland (Dream Wizards) and i've been there. It was fun, but honestly, the hassle of getting there takes up so much time and really deters me from wanting to go.
I also don't want to spend an arm and a leg to draft, so if a place is charging MSRP + entry fee, its just not worth it.
So does anyone know of a group where people are playing (doesn't have to be sanctioned) that is maybe on the more casual spectrum of drafting.
If not, is anyone interested in me trying to start something up, there are a lot of university students in the area, i'm sure there has got to be some interest on George Mason's campus.
For pricing it sounds like TCG is a reliable price guide? Sell prices Should be expected to be around TCG - Low?

i simply put lava dart because most spells with flashback aren't very cheap, or have high flashback costs.
i think its worth exploring. pick another flashback spell you think is more suitable.
when you play a spells flashback cost you are still casting the spell and it would trigger pyromancer's ability and put the second counter on it.
from then on you can copy your instants and interrupts.
1. play pyromancer's ascension.
2. play Intuition 3 copies of lava dart, 1 goes to your hand, the other 2 go to your graveyard.
3. play lava dart from your hand, +1 counter on pyromancer's ascension
4. Flashback a lava dart in the graveyard, would that not get your second counter on the pyromancer's ascension?
I would suggest pairing it with Lava dart.

soothes out the manabase and could be an answer to malakir bloodwitch
I'm concerned about the Vampire matchup.
Like you just said:
Vampire Hexhunter
seems to be an issue. wiping our counters from the ascension.
another issue i see is:
Malakir Bloodwitch

I was thinking of running some
Sphinx of Jwar Isle main.

what do you think about the vampire matchup?
i live in fairfax.
Colonelcoo, i actually do play there casually, but no one seems to draft. They also are only willing to host drafts for $15+ which is just stupid.
clawn, if you find interest let me know. I'd like to start drafting Zendikar.
Thanks.
Sounds perfect.

Bant Sureblade
Naya Hushblade
i'd consider taking out the whte orchid and stewards of valeron for them.
with border posts, they get their bonus. Also if you run knight of the new alara, they get +3/+3
