Why on earth is there a chance to get 2013 packs in these? Unless they'll stop distributing those in any kits produced post-rotation.

Yeah I'll definitely wait on stuff like pens until I really get the hang of it, but everything else I mentioned is useful to have anyways and can be used in other crafts or something if I were to stop doing this.

Gotta start some where, thanks for sharing. If I may ask, what all are you planning to buy?

I plan on at least buying a couple exacto knives of diff. sizes, a cutting mat, and a proper ruler. I see some mentioning of markers, but don't exactly get why they're used. And if someone can suggest a better adhesive than mod podge (GF has a bottle so I just used that), then maybe I'll look into that.

I'll also probably look into some beads and what not to make my next one a life counter.

It will probably be a Wayfaring Temple, since I have almost 20 copies of that card.

My first 3d card, far from perfect. I cut it out with a pocket knife just to get a feel for the process.

I loved it, and will be investing in the proper tools when I get paid.

I think I only used 6 or 7 of the token and used 3card fillers between some of the layers. It's thick enough to make a life counter, but like I said, this was my first attempt, and it was rough.

This is why these extremely limited edition releases are a completely failed project on Wizard's part. From a business stand point, sure they make bank at Wizards, but if the idea is to put various staples or cards out there which are currently hard to get to make them more accessible by allowing a LGS two or three of a given box, then having the people sit around on them for economic purposes... then what's the point? Game stores either jack up the price way above the MSRP defeating the purpose of the product even existing, people buy them for MSRP at a game store that is lucky enough to care about it's players to do so they can turn around and re-sell on eBay, or they sit on them.

Congratulations on obtaining a pretty hard to find and rare product, and it's obviously your right to do what you will with it. It's just a shame because there are players out there who would probably enjoy playing with the cards in it, who couldn't afford inflated prices or get one due to accessibility.

Thanks to all of you for serving as voices of reason, as for this rant... I find that original prints function just as well as these fancy foils, and that FTVs simply aren't meant to be accessible to everyone.

Before I begin, I should clarify that this question pertains to the economic value of FTV's, not the play value of the cards contained in them as I believe that merit to be too subjective. Also, some of my conclusions may be based more off of conjecture and personal experience rather than more concrete information. Thank you.

So I've been trying to gather some numbers to decide if I wanted to open the FTV realms that I've been sitting on since it was released. I found that typically, from Relics to Realms, it seems to make more sense value wise to open the set than keep them sealed.

My conclusions here were that with these products coming after the establishment of FTV products, more people keep them sealed than opened, and that the three FTVs (Relics, Legends, Realms) have more usable cards in them than Dragons and Exiled (my biases here being that I don't know a lot of people that actually play dragons, and that the exiled cards seem to have a smaller niche than the later sets in the playgroups I have been involved in).

I found it odd that Exiled was just as valuable sealed as it was opened, and contributed this to the cards in the set to be just as playable as they are collectible and somehow this FTV managed to balance out.

As for Dragons being the only set that I found being worth more sealed than Opened: I attributed this to being the first FTV product, and that over the last four years since its release the number of available sealed copies has simply diminished faster than any other FTV product.

This finally brings me to my question: should I open realms? I find the set to be somewhere between Legends and Exiled in terms of usefulness, leaning more towards Legends based on the prices of singles that I have seen. Because I've found it in a kind of in-between status I'm really not sure what to do with it.

If you're curious about the numbers I came up with, I used two sets. The first was the price I could pay for a sealed copy of a given FTV on Ebay, the second being the total price that SCG sells all of the singles for in a given FTV. While I know I most likely would not be able to sell my own copies for retail prices, I relied on these for steady prices. The results:

    In USD:
FTV Dragons: 225 sealed vs. 169 open
FTV Exiled: 200 Sealed vs. 200.50 opened
FTV Relics: 125 Sealed vs. 130 opened
FTV Legends: 55. Sealed vs. 110 Opened
FTV Realms: 69 Sealed vs. 121 Opened

Again, I'm not particularly interested in talking about the play value of cards in a given FTV product, though I recognize that this factor does contribute to the values of these sets.

Most shop in my country have an agreement that every shop will sell it at 320$.
Or You will get discount if you buy a lot of product in the same day but no less than 250$.
Or you will have a chance to get 1 card , 1 oversize card , 99 - dice , +/- counter from lucky draw from tournament with more than 100 ppl.

Doesn't that constitute price fixing? How is this okay?

Our five copies are going out to players who inquired about this the day it was announced; we've had a few complaints about that recently, but why reward the players who aren't paying attention to the information Wizards is putting out there?

We're also selling ours at MSRP; one of a handful of stores I've heard of doing so.

My LGS does this as well and I rather prefer it. If you're going to be an "avid" player of any format then you should be paying attention. Also, the shop here will be selling at MSRP, but I think it's more because its a smaller shop that's been in business for almost 30 years, from being good to their customers and not gouging them.

    More shops like yours, please.

  • posted a message on Turning G/W into Naya, please help!
Hello, so as per some advice from a friend at FNM I am looking at turning my G/W aggro into a Naya deck. First I will list the G/W deck as it is currently, then a GWR list with my own ideas will follow. Thank you for looking,

    G/W Aggro:
    Turned into Naya:

    My issues:
    1. I feel like I could use more red spells, I just don't know where to go as I don't play the color very often.
    2. Not sure if my Mana allotment is enough, as I don't typically play 3+ colors
    3. Too many x2 of's feels too indecisive.
    4. Wolfir Silverheart?
    5. Don't feel like I have adequate answers to much of anything.
    6. Can this ramp fast enough to drop a massive bonfire?

EDIT: Some deck numbers were wrong.

  • posted a message on Why are Archenemy schemes and Planechase (2009) planes actually worth something?
Question is in the title. These are formats that I played with when they were introduced, but never took very seriously or watched very closely. I have a pile of schemes and planes and was somewhat surprised to see that they were even worth over a dime per card.

So... what's the deal with these format cards? I'm mostly asking to decide if I want to actually hold on to some of them or just get rid of them since the formats aren't popular at my local gameshop or in my personal play group of friends.

This just made me feel bad for my opponent, did this a couple weeks ago with W/G Aggro.

Opening Hand: Too much ramp, one Sigarda, one Oblivion Ring
    T1: Forest, play Birds
T2: Razorverge, play 2 more birds
    T3: Land, 4th Bird, Sigarda
T4: Land, remove his threats (geralf messenger mainly)
T5: Land, Silverblade Paladin binds to Sigarda, Oblivion ring on opponents Geralf's Messenger

Opponent was playing a mono-black zombie deck, wasn't sleeving his cards, definitely a new player. He had some opening threats that I swatted away and he just kept drawing swamps... Happened in both games, went 2-0 that match.

    I felt kinda bad.
