Thanks for the thoughts, folks. I appreciate the input. I'm also jazzed that I only failed to collect four of the cards (Sorin, Avacyn, Sigarda, Craterhoof) before it rotated from Standard (which was my goal, with the stipulation of never buying any of them out of pocket [though trade-ins for store credit was allowed]).

Let's say I was in the market to sell a 1x FOIL Innistrad block (all three sets). I don't know that I am, but what do you think a sane person might actually pay to take it off my hands? Some of the junk rares/un/commons are in EX condition, but everything important is NM. Please ignore any boasting you might interpret from this post. I'm genuinely curious, and the Market St. forum folks would know better than me, even though it's kind of an unusual question. My guess would be $1000 at the bare minimum.

I doubt it will ever see much play, but Astral Cornucopia must be referred to as
    The Pornucopia
, because, you know, its cost.

  • posted a message on The Magic Lampoon
I guess I just haven't thought about it all year, but what happened to The Magic Lampoon? All of their pages and media accounts have been dead since March.

I mourn this loss, however late I am in doing so. Does anyone know what the deal was or if there's an archive of their content that can actually be accessed?

    Thanks for any info/help!

I see where OP is coming from, but the process of clarifying the distinction shouldn't take more than one attempt for it to stick. And oh my goodness I can't believe how many people posting have absolutely no idea what they're reading. Think for a second, all of you. You (obviously don't) know who you are.

I was going to say it's just a drawing or marker on the map/figures they're looking at, but the I realized that it overlaps the raised edge of the map, so that can't really be it, unless the artist was just that negligent like I believe to be the case for .

Found it. Never Mind! Card is called Victimize and it has really weird wording

In case you revisit your thread, it has the weird wording so that you can't choose to reanimate the creature you sacrifice and another creature. You must choose two creatures in the graveyard before you send the sacrifice there. That would make it a nearly better Zombify (retriggering multiple ETBs) simply at the cost of needing a creature on board and having the creatures return tapped.

Well additional is 10 characters but yes.

I totally miscounted, but I think it's absolutely reasonable to consider two lowercase Is (factoring in kerning) as one character Rolleyes

Thanks. Seems like they should go ahead and use "additional" more often since it removes pretty much all confusion with nine characters. I doubt that it's hard to stick that word into 99% of text boxes.

{T}: Add 1 to your mana pool.
1, {T}: Add to your mana pool one mana of any color in your commander's color identity. If you spend this mana to cast your commander, it enters the battlefield with a number of +1/+1 counters on it equal to the number of times it's been cast from the command zone this game.

Why does Master Biomancer use the word "additional" but Opal Palace does not? (http://www.wizards.com/magic/magazine/article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/ct/269)

Luckily, the linked article alleviates my initial concern that the absence of "additional" would somehow replace altogether any counters a commander would come into play with (Any hydra-type effect, Skullbriar). I'm still not sure how the rules support the apparent fact that they do.

Anyone got anything concrete? The Replacement Effect section of the comp rules didn't really help when I investigated.

Thanks for all the replies. Nice to know they don't seem too powerful. And I'm kind of surprised about Purphoros. Might look to pick one up now. I always say that Red makes EDH "go" by putting players on a clock, so at least the red god plays into that.

How have the gods been for everyone? Are any of them powerful enough to actually cause concern, given their difficult-to-remove nature, especially when not creatures? I only have one essentially useless data point on the matter (a friend testing Erebos, God of the Dead as commander, unsuccessfully), but overall, they seem like they may be a thorn in the sides of many.

It seems like the most realistic/playable answers to them are Return to Dust (one of my favorites); Merciless Eviction if absolutely necessary, however narrow its color ID is; Karn Liberated; Ashen Rider, Archon of Justice, and Oblivion Ring variants, temporarily.

Now that I went looking, this list seems longer than I had anticipated, which alleviates the issue somewhat, but I'd still like to hear if anyone has any outstanding impressions of Maindeck Gods, that is, not acting as Commander. Are they as annoying and persistent as I imagine them to be, or are they just sort of there? Feel free to comment on either situation as long as you make it clear.

If I recall, Infiltration Lens is what you're looking for. Mirrodin block, same costs and desired effects, but far more "intended" execution.

  • posted a message on Why is WotC Emphasizing Creatures so Heavily Over Instants and Sorceries Recently?
This is Tunnel Vision, Pure // Simple. As has already been mentioned, there are plenty of spells being used today that are as gamebreaking as the creatures. And I support the position that creature combat is generally more fun than a game without creatures. The points regarding Planeswalkers are also all valid. Just looking at the new set, we can see there are plenty of powerful rare spells that are going to be played, just like some of the creatures.

And off topic, i.e. and e.g. do not mean the same thing.

My fav card is 'Quoting multiple posts that are right below'. It's a hoot. Are you trying to make a meta-recursive thread?

It's more tolerable than when posters quote the entire OP as if posting in the thread does not imply a response to the OP.
