Well, Ninjas and Allies don't have a whole lot of interaction outside of their respective blocks.

I'm not convinced that "entirely distinct theme" means that much. If there is absolutely no connection or synergy between [Zen] and [RoE] then they wouldn't work as a draft set. There probably won't be landfall or trap cards in [RoE], but I'm thinking that they will have some kind of themes that are at least compatible with the themes of Zendikar.

What is the point of making two large bookend sets if they have no synergy or interaction?

Actually, Zendikar is intended to be drafted ZEN-ZEN-WWK and Eldrazi is going to be ROE-ROE-ROE.

It is a mechanically different set and will play as such.

Although I assume landfall/allies may make an appearance, who knows?

People are missing some of the shenanigans with Oblivion Ring and Journey to Nowhere...those interact quite strongly with the exile zone, allowing you to pull creatures back from removal. Tidehollow Sculler as well...

There's also Realm Razer; not really a Constructed staple, but there it is.

Let me make something clear to myself: Wizards said Worldwake would contain AT LEAST ONE planeswalker, right? So technically, we can get both Jace and Sarkhan?

If he's gonna be multicolored this time, then I believe WU is the most likely combination, since his new deck in DotP is white-blue.

Probably came up upthread, but Nissa worked a B/G elf deck in DotP and she was mono-green...Also, I think Ajani has a Naya deck. I wouldn't use DotP as a 1-1 correlation with paper magic.

My opinion leans towards a R/BSarkhan in WWK(he seemed pretty dark in the the comic) and a U/W Jace in the next one if at all. Although if the Eldrazi come to town and start om-nomming everything who knows?

I predict these will be horrors in all five colors and the intimidate keyword will be fully showcased with the Eldrazi.

Yeah, horrors seems about right. There's something very Zerg-sounding about them; maybe there is some kind of control mechanic where they eat your creatures and take their abilities. A more cannibalistic take on slivers.

The real million $ question is whether Ghostfire or its ilk will make an appearance...

I'm actually trying to build a very similar deck (mostly identical actually), and I was wondering how you guys would "Budgetify" this deck?

Looking through the card list I'm coming across around 120 dollars (over 120 dollars by ebay) in rares in the land alone.

Instead of running two sets of tapsac lands (I don't need them as badly since I'm not potentially splashing white), could one get away with 9 Swamp, 7 Mountain, and 4 Terramorphic Expanse?

The creatures, and spells aren't too bad, and I can cough up 50 or so bucks for the Guul Draaz, and Goblin Guide, so the main concern is the mana fixing aspects.

Edit: Also can someone give me a link for the "What color are you?" quiz that gives the potentially split results (such as white green, black white, etc), I can only find one that gives mono-chromatic answers.

Answer: Cut the Fetches. You don't need 8 freaking fetches that don't appear to fix anything -or indeed perform any function at all - except a potential white sideboard.

I did read it genius. Anyone can put a card next to a zendikar logo and say they opened it in a booster, doesnt prove anything.

Judges are not saints, they can lie.

Anyway i suppose i believe it, but it was a stupid idea wizards just wants gimmicks to make money, now every set after this will be a let down.

Yes, what a pity that renowned NGO and charitable organization Wizards of the Coast would let down its mission to help the starving and down-trodden...

Seriously, Dr. Jeebus' signature proved to be eerily correct.

They are giving things away for free. Yes, this will make people want to buy more packs. This is a good thing, because a)secondary prices will fall, b)bricks and mortar stores, which are often the product of a lot of blood, sweat and toil on the part of owners, will thrive, c)the community will grow and d) Wizards will stay in business during a recession and hopefully the game will continue.

Some people just love *****ing and moaning too much.

If I was running it we'd be replacing your New found Treasure with a land card.

By which you mean, Player X would keep his card, separate from his draft cards(in a lockbox?), get a land for the pack, and then make his pick as normal?

Somewhere, someone is going to open a pack with a Foil Lotus Cobra, regular Lotus Cobra and a Black Lotus, and have a heart-attack.

    First ever Magic-related casualty!!

One thing that confuses me -- if the format is totally creature dominated, aggro is running rampant, and creatures are all...

then why isn't Essence Scatter basically a two-mana hard counter? I mean, if the issue is that decks are all creatures, then Essence Scatter is a perfect hoser!

Regardless, people will build and it will be interesting to see...

Explorer's Scope was just spoiled. No draw.

So it is. Spoilers are moving fast now.

Probably Grim Discovery, then. Something along the lines of Sign in Blood.

I guess if you want efficient card draw, you play black now!

There is only one instance left for "draw" in the Orb...we have six "draw" and two "draws" spoiled.

Could Spreading Seas be a blue draw card? Seems unlikely...

If not that, Grim Discovery or Explorer's scope seem the next most likely spells to use draw.

Saito Hawkeye, I had multiple fetches in my list before because of the KotR and more importantly the lotus cobra. Without those two cards I would simply stick to the Rainforests. If you plan to go with cobras then two more fetches would be worth including. Thanks for the informative post btw.

Ah, I forgot about the Cobras...
