If Sol Ring got banned, then I would stop running Ingot Chewer. There is nothing more satisfying than destroying a turn 1 Sol Ring with a turn 1 Ingot Chewer Smile . On a more serious note though, I don't think it needs to be banned. However, if it were to be banned I wouldn't see much of a difference honestly. I don't think Sol Ring is essential, so no decks would be ruined by not having it. It's one of those "lucky starts" that shows up every few games, which actually keeps things fresh in my opinion. In my playgroup (casual) we all run Sol Ring. And usually all that ends up happening is whoever gets their turn 1 Sol Ring is the person who is attacked first. Not because of the Sol Ring specifically, but because of the fact that the Sol Ring put them ahead or because of what the Sol Ring ramped into. Sol Ring only seems to be a problem early game. I can't think of a time where anyone has ever said anything or expressed negative emotion due to a Sol Ring mid to late game. That doesn't mean I still won't use Ingot Chewer on it mid to late game, but you get my point Wink .

I actually run him in one of my decks, not as the general but as a normal creature. Usually he won't die without hitting someone for 6, and since I don't run too many noncreature spells myself, I find it to be a solid choice. I actually had him out once at the same time I had out Nullstone Gargoyle, meaning on most occasions someone is going to take 12 damage before taking him out. I couldn't tell you how he works as a general since I haven't seen it, but I definitely enjoy running it in my deck.

I run a R/G ETB deck that actually uses Birthing Pod as well. Usually when I run into the 4cmc slot, I'm not looking for a creature to stick around very long. I either plan on getting an immediate effect from it (ETB) or some sort of ability when it dies. Some cards that I use are Ondu Giant, Quirion Trailblazer, Gamekeeper and Summoner's Egg. If I need ramp I grab one of the first two, if not then I grab one of the last two.

The first situation is completely fine. People can reveal their hand if they want to, and this can be part of politics as well.

The second situation where there is outside help isn't against the rules per se, but it is probably not the best idea. It's like playing a game of chess and having a third party help out your opponent. Kinda sucks doesn't it?

I remember being in a standard tournament a few years back where I was in a very close game with an opponent. I saw him reveal a Terminate in his hand which should have given him the win. However, he calculated the math wrong and chose the wrong creature which gave me the win. I remember being surrounded by a group of people who saw him make the error as it was happening but decided to say nothing. I am very grateful that they said nothing when they could have easily done so.

This card is worth testing in EDH. I can see it being useful in a variety of situations. It can help you fish for some creatures when you don't have enough of them, and it can help you spit them out when you have too many of them. If you're going to play a green creature and you are able to play Garruk, you might as well play this first. Pretty useful against counterspells, seeing as they have to counter Garruk or else that other creature gets cheated into play for the most part. Of course, this Garruk is pretty contingent on having a deck full of creatures (which I do). Although 6 cmc is on the costly side, it is totally playable in EDH, especially with Green.

I see. If I already had a creature in the graveyard before Warp World was casted, and he took it with Sepulchral Primordial, could I use Duplicant on it or no?

It is my turn, and I cast Warp World. I receive an Eternal Witness, a Duplicant, and a Dragon Broodmother. My opponent receives a Sepulchral Primordial and a bunch of lands. During the casting of Warp World, my graveyard is empty.

This is what happened, and I want to know if everything was correct or if we messed up at any time.

All the triggers are on the stack, and his proceed to resolve first. Because my graveyard is empty, he casts Doom Blade to send my Dragon Broodmother to the graveyard. Once it is in the graveyard, he steals it with Sepulchral Primordial. My Duplicant exiles the Dragon Broodmother, and my Eternal Witness grabs an instant that was put into the graveyard by Warp World.

    Did everything happen correctly?

Also on a side note, can I grab Warp World with the Eternal Witness that came into play as a result of it?

    Thanks!

Eeeeeeh, I don't consider any of them auto includes. Sure, they're powerful, but their high mana makes them conflict with other things. I think the only ones that are close to auto includes are the G and B ones. Hell, I don't even run the sylvan in some of my decks. Timmies eat these cards up, but the real players know they're not that amazing.

I agree, for most people I don't see them as being auto includes, with maybe the only exception being Sylvan. But for decks that abuse ETB, and by abuse I mean run cards such as Conjurer's Closet, they end up being pretty useful. I think the titans and primordials have a strong enough effect to warrant their ETB abuse. If that's not the theme however, I would probably only run Sylvan or the Black one, as you mentioned.

Green: Pretty hard to argue that this is anything but great. It's a nice combination of ramp and non-creature destruction. Definitely the best "all around" given no situations where it is a dead card.

Red: I run this one, and it's pretty good. Useful for both taking away defenders and swinging with a sizeable force. If I have out some sort of sac outlet when I cast this, I find it to be even more useful than the green primordial.

Black: I played against this in a Mimeoplasm Deck, and it was insane. What was even worse was when someone used this on another one of these in another graveyard, netting the guy 6 creatures off of one primordial. From my experience, it is a solid card.

White: This one isn't bad either, but from what I have seen it is not as good or game changing as the rest. Decent card, just not as good in comparison to the rest.

Blue: I have not seen this one played thus far.

Overall, the primordials are good cards in my opinion. Not unlike the titans, I myself consider them to be auto-includes for the colors that my deck runs. Gotta love that ETB abuse!

So if it does not counter that spell, what happens if they play another non-creature spell after that now that the gargoyle is in play? Will it counter that or is it now too late now that it is the 2nd spell cast?

    Lurking Predators

It is my opponent's turn. He casts a non-creature spell, which triggers my Lurking Predators. I flip over a Nullstone Gargoyle. What happens? Does the Nullstone Gargoyle counter the spell since it is the first one cast that turn, or is it too late because it has already been casted?

Ahhh land destruction. It's one of those things that when you play it you think "What's the big deal?" and when it is used against you it's "That's messed up man."

What you did will most likely win you the game, especially if you still had lands in hand. Otherwise it depends on exactly what enchantments you had out. But I usually make a judgment call post-MLD to see whether I stand a reasonable chance given I have no board and they have something. If its 1 on 1 I will probably scoop. If there are 3 people or more playing, I'll usually stay if someone else stays too. If the guy was losing horribly and wipes the board to even the field, I'll stay. Back when Worldfire was allowed, I recall casting it sometimes during those situations. I would be left thinking "If I do not cast this I lose next turn. If I cast this I might win this game." Of course, after a card like that though the game ends pretty quickly.

Look to your playgroup when deciding whether or not you should actually play land destruction, because ultimately that is what matters the most in my opinion.

    Shivan Wurm
    Changeling Titan

So I'm running a R/G EDH deck, and I am currently running Shivan Wurm. It's obvious use is to bounce another one of my creatures back into my hand so I can replay it for its ETB effect. I recently came across Changeling Titan, and am considering the possibility of swapping out Shivan Wurm for it. I'm trying to think of some pros and cons, but wanted your guys' opinion on the matter.

Shivan Wurm bounces the creature back so you can simply recast it whenever you want. The downside to this is that you have to pay for the mana to recast whatever it was, which might be your only play for the next turn (Terastodon, for example). Also with Shivan Wurm, there is a possibility that the creature you bounce will be stopped when you try to recast it. Shivan Wurm is slightly harder to cast with R in the symbol, but has trample.

Changeling Titan exiles the creature and returns it back once Changeling Titan leaves play. The downside to this is that I cannot bring the creature back in whenever I want and it requires the Titan to leave play. This is nice in that the creature that I exile is almost guaranteed to return safely, and I do not have to pay any mana for its re-entering. This double's up as a wrath deterrent, which Shivan Wurm does not do (unless it is cast instant speed). Titan also works on colorless creatures, while Shivan Wurm does not.

Which would you run in a deck heavy on the creatures, especially ETB creatures?
