I would use Medomai completely different from what you guys have been talking about.

I'm thinking upkeep triggers, Planeswalkers, and time walk effects.

Upkeep triggers: Enduring Ideal, Paradox Haze, Staff of Nin, Azor's Elocuters, Ephara, suspend cards (Ancestral Visions), Braids, Conjurer Adept, Sun Drop, Dream Tides (just mean), Followed Footsteps, Hondens, Reality Strobe, Thassa.

Planeswalkers: Obvious reasons. You get to use their abilities twice as often! Brighthearth Rings would be crazy. You'd get 4 times the bang for your buck.

Time Walk effects: Besides the obvious "take an extra turn" effects, pseudo time walks like Abeyance, Silence, Orim's Chant, Sudden Silence, and Time Stop can make it seem like you're taking all the turns.

Honestly, it seems like a fun deck to play. Powerful, but not broken.

I run 3 different kinds of accel/ramp in my Progenitus deck: Signets/Darksteel Ingot, Green Ramp Spells (None that only get 1 land), and non-basics that should produce no less than three colors. I just make sure that most of my signets and non-basics make green. This makes your acceleration hard to attack.
You won't be particularly vulnerable to being attacked through artifacts, non-basics, or straight LD.
For an early game, I'd recommend getting Collective Restraint, Alara Charms, and Split Cards. This gives you versatility while you ramp. Besides, it's cool when you just-so-happen to draw a Jund Charm against the reanimator opponent. Trust me, try it.

I think your bombs could be a little bombier and expensive. When playing 5C, you have your choice of the best cards in the game. You should prove it every time you drop a spell after a few turns of ramping.
It's fine to play 'goodstuff' you should just try to build some synergy into your deck.
My personal flavor of Progenitus good stuff is focused around multi-color spells and recursion. Recursion is just better when your spells are 'just better' than everyone else's.
Multi-color: Knight of New Alara, Reborn Hope, a few Nephilim, Cloven Casting, Supply/Demand, Might of the Nephilim, Conflux
Recursion: Reborn Hope, Recollect, Worldheart Phoenix, Eternal Witness

    I hope this helps!

Ya know...I like both cards. I really like Loxodon Smiter. I could see him in a deck where you use his alt cost to cheat him into play. I use to use syncopate back in the day. So, it's a welcome return.
That being said, does anyone else feel cheated out of the Friday Spoiler? I thought the spoilers that they left us with over the weekend were supposed to be cards that got people excited? I see lots of approval and very little excitement.

Bolas officially sucks. Way to go, Wizards. Give me more Ajanis and Elspeths, please.

I don't understand why people are reacting this way. We've known the casting cost of this card for some time. As well as the first two abilities that it has. We all can agree they rock. Vindicate any non-creature or control magic once a turn for free. That is the epitome of game changing. For the -9 ability people have been saying it needs to 'win now'. Seriously, though. From the reading of lots of these posts that is just about literally what you people want:

-9: You win the game. This ability has Split Second.

Would that be good enough? No, of course not. There would still be the nay-sayers saying "I would rather just play something that wins for less than 8 mana and two turns." Well, thank you for your completely unconstructive criticism. If you want to play a deck that wins before needing 7-8 mana go play aggro. Were you expecting a 8 CC planeswalker to fit into this narrow vision for what is good? Very few cards in the history of competitive magic have used cards that expensive. But, you know what? They all did win the game right then and there, right Dragonstorm?

Those decks had the entire rest of their composition around making those cards work for them. We can all agree that if this card gets out and hangs out for any measure of time it can single-handedly win. It will solo you as was said of Thornling.

If this card is to be correctly placed into a deck you have to evaluate it in the context in which it wants to rest. It would certainly be played in a deck with some measure of acceleration (or consistent land drops like 5cc in standard) and control. I'm not claiming "It just needs to be put together and we'll have a tier 1 deck." I'm just saying don't evaluate the card in a vacuum, evaluate it in context. Nicol Bolas wants you to work to get him out and if you protect him like he needs in those following 1-3 turns he will win the game. That's where my vision for him sits, however vague.

Armillary Sphere and Shard Convergence seem like good ways to make turn 8 your 8th land drop. Yes, I know it's four colors, so what? How easy is it to splash right now? Stupid easy.

At worst, Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker will be in a casual deck I make for him.

eh, I wouldn't mind using it as a strange Terror in my Devour Deck. It actually kills any creature it can target at the two slot. That sells me alone. And if i were to put it into a deck I would put it into a deck that compliments its trigger to an extent that it is justs kills on the next thing you do. I.E.
    T1 Tukatongue Thallid
T2 Yoke of the Damned their Wizened Cenn or Figure of Destiny
T3 Thunder-Thrash Elder nom noms Thallid

gameplay wise: Yoke of the Damned and Nantuko Husk any evoke creatures (as mentioned before) , 'sac at eot' creatures, and in multiplayer this is just fun people!

  • posted a message on What's the luckiest pack you've opened?
Just last month my girlfriend was looking to fill out her Esper-control deck and I had been wanting a Punish Ignorance (as I had none) and we bought ONE pack that day and opened a Master of Etherium and a foil Punish Ignorance right behind it. Luckiest i've ever opened. (Foiled Grinning Demon in draft is pretty sweet, though, as a second.)
