I think when you run this much burn/call to mind your deck becomes watered down and you loose some really good dig spells and/or counters that are critical for getting ascension online
Has anyone thought of splashing either black or white for added removal and reach?
Black adds smother, vendetta, doomblade and discard while white adds path, o-ring, and good planeswalkers
just a thought anyway
So, I've got a few questions for those who've played BigRed lists.
What do you do about Firewalker/Baneslayer type cards?
How do you maintain card advantage long enough to get Valakut active?
These are the problems I'm having with most lists. It seems this plays like control. I couldn't put something together without going with a 1 Plains white splash for a few choice SB/MD options - but still consider it BigRed.
Right now some of the lists run lodestone golem and it can deal with the fire walker as it is colorless. As for Baneslayer, I have found that chandra or one of the x burn spells will make short work of her.
no Full art lands in ROE as posted by Daily MTG on twitter dailymtg
(Kelly) @Scott_MDavis: None of the lands in ROE have extended art. That was a special thing for the land theme in ZEN/WWK.
Edit: Sorry then someone please delete this thread as i feel like an idiot
I don't think the 4 negate and dispel is a good idea.
Also i think the versatility of bant charm would be better than dispel as it can do the same thing and much more
Furthermore the deck should have about 25 lands, some removal and parhaps some draw. Any ideas on this type of deck?
ps. This is my first post, I hope the tags are working well...
World Queller and the Spreading seas type cards create a non-bo, as The queller forces your opponents to sac a land and they can just sac their new island. So your just going to have to choose either package.
Okay I really like bant, however the last time i played it post Zendikar I did pretty poorly. Currently i would like suggestions as i would like to play this Archtype again. Here's a list i have come up with.
First, I need to be more in depth about what I like about Harm's Way.
I gave a very poor example with RDW; I had crushed my opponent at a tournament yesterday, but it was just a few random incidents that happened in that match up that made me think HW excels against RDW, when in reality, it's a wasted redirection spell.
HW is reactive, whilest things like path are proactive. After playing my friend's RDW, I can say that preventing the damage all together by removing a Ball Lightning from the game is much better than taking 6, redirecting 2 of it to kill the ball lightning (which dies at EoT anyway), and still taking 4. Not sure why I even suggested it worked great against RDW; I guess it's because I was 2for1ing my opponent all game yesterday with HW, but it was just one of those lucky set of games, I guess?
However, that's not to say HW is bad; it's a fantastic card to run in a deck like this. People try to bait me to block with Iona frequently, and more often than not, I do because she's a huge beat that can take a hit. With Harm's Way, I can block my opponents Broodmate Dragon, let him throw a lightning bolt at Iona to deal 7 damage, and Harm's Way 2 of it at his Noble Hierarch.
a 2for1.
For 1 mana.
And it happens fairly often....assuming of course they haven't scooped once Iona resolves.
It troubles me that Angelsong will soon be rotating out, though. Unless worldwake gives us a decent fog, I'm thinking Shieldmate's Blessing would be a decent replacement for it...:/....which......is bad. :/
Safe passage isn't enough, especially considering the heavy white build I run (W/u). On a random side note, anyone who says this deck isn't competitive is crazy, or just hasn't played a good build; 5-1 the first go round with Ionamorph at fnm isn't bad, and I still have tons of tweaking to do with this idea.
As far as this deck in future builds go....isn't shards rotating out once World Wake hits? Because I imagine that Elspeth will be replaced by the new jace (obviously)
No shards doesn't rotate until the fall of 2010 when "lights" block comes out, which means you will have elspeth and angle song until then.
IT seems that a lot of people are agreeing on a Bant build but i kind of like a green white token build. Mine uses sigil captain and allies with one power and turntimber ranger which can make a lot of tokens.
What about Siege-Gang Commander?
seems like it could fit into the curve somewhere. I don't know because you have mycoloth there, but the commander brings four guys to the table and can act as removal if needed. Also, it is much better post wrath(day) than most anything else.

I feel that the LD may be better because it does the same as Lodestone without the risk to them responding to it on your turn.
(Also Some may notice this is my first time posting on this thread but I have been following the progression)
